TAHARIAE’S ARBITERS OF PURITY

"No longer a gentle hand- but a steady grip.”

 

 

 

ORIGIN AND TAHARIAE

 

During the first war, Many descendants were left powerless against the forces of ruin and darkness that tore through their homelands. Seeing this, Tahariae convened directly with these lost and suffering peoples to bestow upon them his blessings and boons. In this, they became the first of the clerics.

Through antiquity, Tahariae’s following of clerics have been marred by the unworthy, falling to inaction, insufficiency, and even becoming that very darkness which they had sought to purge. For this reason, the clerics were sundered, a tarnished stain upon Tahariae’s name.

 

However, following Azdromoth’s apotheosis, and the death of his beloved brother, Xan- Tahariae sought to not give up upon the endeavor of a mortal following; but to reinvent the idea, though no longer in the image of the now-dead Lion’s paladins, nor in the image of the once-sundered clerics.

 

Thus now he scrutinizes his Arbiters closely- for they are the means to justify the ends, and He is the judge, jury and executioner of His vision, in service to the purity that the creator initially bestowed upon descendantkind.

Arbiter is incompatible with all other deific and dark magics (with the exception of seer).

Arbiter is incompatible with any race other than the Descendent Races: Humans, Orcs, Elves and Dwarves. 

 

Utilizing any of the Arbiter’s incantations or rites to metagame or ‘darkspawn test’ is grounds for your MA to be revoked, and for you to be placed on a permanent blacklist from the magic.

 

 

THE VISION OF PURITY

 

The vision of purity is the creation of a mortal world inherited by descendantkind without impurities, without the meddling of the deific and daemonic.

 

An ‘Impure’ being is defined as any descendant who has forsaken the pure nature gifted to them by the creator, by having their soul altered by any means, or those who are under deific or daemonic influence.
‘Impure’ beings include, but are not limited to: Naztherak, Inferi, Mystics, Cursed Children, Frost Witches, Necromancers, Undead, Voidstalkers, Arcane Scions, Templars, Arbiters, Shamans, etc.

Arbiters are a mere extension of this higher will, that serve only to enact this sole imperative, entrusted unto them by Tahariae. The mortal world of ‘purity’ which they are guided to create is one not meant for them; for in allowing their souls to be altered by Tahariae, they have chosen to eschew their own purity for the sake of purpose.

This is but one of many sacrifices expected of the noble souls that fill the White Stag’s followers, for only those who are incorruptible, steadfast, faithful, and willing to sacrifice everything, would be of use.

THE TENETS OF TAHARIAE

These are the guiding principles that have been bestowed upon the Arbiters of Tahariae, and expectations to follow these tenants are written through their altered souls. To betray these tenants is to betray their purpose, and Tahariae has no use for those who can not or do not act to fulfill the vision of purity.

 

I. “Woe to those that turn against Me and My mission, for they must be cast out of thy ranks.”
There is no tolerance for corruption, rebellion, or inaction within the ranks of Arbiters. Tahariae has no need for a tool that does not fulfill its purpose. 

 

II. “Woe to those who refuse to protect and heal the innocent, to return to purity what has been rendered impure.”

Arbiters have an obligation to protect those that are pure, and to cleanse and guide those that are lost from the vision of purity. 

III. “Woe to those who let the impure, the beings of darkness and influenced by the Heavens, walk free when they cross thy path.”
Arbiters have an obligation to purge the impure that can not be cleansed, and those who have allowed their souls to be altered irrevocably, or otherwise have given themselves over to deific or daemonic influence and refuse mercy or cause harm to the pure.

IV. “When the vision of purity is fulfilled, you will be the last to be purged, for you are impure and do not fit within My vision.”

To accept being an Arbiter, is to accept being impure. This is to accept sacrificing everything for the vision of purity.

 

THE RITE OF CONNECTION AND GRACE

 

The connection of an Arbiter is a solemn event, a necessary sacrifice to enact the vision of purity, to give up one's own purity and future in order to uphold the sanctity of Tahariae’s will and that of the creator.

The nature of the connection is largely freeform and up to the discretion of the Arbiter performing the rite. However, the following core aspects should occur:

 

The aspirant should kneel and request acceptance from Tahariae for sacrificing their purity for his purpose. Following this, the Arbiter should restrain the aspirant with Faith’s Fetters, as they become bound to their new fate. Though the threads will not harm a pure descendant at first, over the process of the aspirant losing their purity, the threads will begin to sear and burn. Afterwards, the Arbiter should summon their Stag, a manifestation of Tahariae’s light, and symbolic of him and his will.

 

The stag will then charge forwards, and fuse with the aspirant, goring through their soul and embedding within it Tahariae’s blessing, which allows the now impure Arbiter to be able to withstand the grace needed to incant and utilize his blessing. This process is horrifically painful, akin to burning from the inside out. After which the rite is complete and the aspirant is now an Arbiter of Purity.

OOC and IC consent is required to pass on Tahariae’s blessing. Should the connection rite be performed on an unwilling participant, it will have no effect and fail.

 

This rite can not be performed during combat.

 

Arbiters who are connected will forever have their soul marked by Tahariae’s blessing, and thus will be unable to take on any magic or feat that would be deemed impure, even upon being disconnected. 

 

Additionally, the unique strain that grace places on the soul weakens the Arbiter’s physical form, meaning they can only wear up to medium armor, while slowing an Arbiter’s natural aging process by half.

 

The Rite of Connection must be taught to a tier five [5] Arbiter prior to applying for a TA. It cannot be inferred or observed passively. This rite must be marked on the Arbiter’s MA prior to making a TA.

An approved TA must be accepted in order to connect a new Arbiter.

 

Upon being connected, Arbiters learn the language Flexio and can read, speak, and write it fluently. This is the default language utilized for their incantations, although other languages can be utilized so long as the function of the incantation remains the same. 

 

 

GRACE is the amount of Tahariae’s purity found in one’s soul, and is generated by calling upon the White Stag’s blessing. It is required to perform many great feats, and to cast the litany of incantations available to an Arbiter. However, a mortal soul, even one altered with Tahariae’s blessing, can only withstand so much of the Aengul’s power.

An Arbiter will start at zero [0] grace, and generate more as they call upon Tahariae’s blessing. Should an Arbiter attempt to cast any incantations or perform any rites while at the maximum threshold, they will find that they are instead wracked with agonizing pain as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and fall unconscious for the rest of the encounter.

 

Utilizing grace to cast an incantation must also be accompanied with an appropriate magic tell. Though these tells can vary for flavor, they should remain within the realm of Tahariae’s domain. These tells should strictly remain within the color range of white or silver. These tells can include but are not limited to: glowing white light from about the Arbiter’s form, a crown of white ethereal stag horns, or shining silver eyes.

Arbiters will start with zero [0] grace, and their grace will wear off over a period of twelve [12] OOC hours.

 

If an Arbiter attempts to cast a incantation or perform a rite while at their maximum grace threshold, they will instead be wracked with agonizing pain as though Tahariae’s grace is burning them from the inside out, and will fall unconscious for the rest of the encounter.

 

All Arbiter incantations must be casted with an appropriate magical tell, with glowing white or silver themes. Arbiter incantations may not be ‘stealth’ casted.

 

Arbiters can not be temporarily disconnected mid combat in the same way as most magics. Instead incantations must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote in order to cast, and must be chanted for each incantation. Incantations are unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned, silenced, in too much pain to speak, etc.

THE LITANY OF INCANTATIONS

 

REFULGENT JUDGEMENT

[T1] (Non-Combative / Passive)

 

An Arbiter’s being is altered by Tahariae’s blessing, they carry with them the constant feeling as though someone or something is judging them from just out of sight, as though Tahariae wishes for them to remember his expectations. This can, at first, be quite a nerve racking feeling, which can cause bouts of anxiety, stress, and even paranoia in new Arbiters, though eventually the feeling will fade to an uncomfortable itch in the back of one’s mind.

 

Additionally, Tahariae has granted his Arbiters the ability to see prophecies from beyond, allowing them to gather further evidence to make their judgements upon the mortal realm. When an Arbiter is struck by a prophecy, their incantation tells will flare in a sudden burst of light, and they may even murmur incomprehensible incantations until the prophecy passes.

MECHANICS

Refulgent judgment is a freeform passive which is always in effect. The Arbiter is constantly accompanied by the sensation of a cold judging gaze, as Tahariae leaves a permanent impression of his expectations upon the Arbiter. This effect can be depicted in a variety of ways.

 

Additionally, This passive allows Arbiters to receive prophecies and visions when they occur. When an Arbiter receives a vision, their connection tells will flare in a harmless burst of light, and they may even murmur incomprehensible incantations until the prophecy passes. This is also a freeform ability which can be depicted in a variety of ways.

 

REDLINES

Refulgent Judgement allows Arbiters to see prophecies, following the redlines of Prophecy Lore.

 

The magical tell of receiving a prophecy is purely aesthetic and can not be used to harm or blind another.

 

 

REFRACTIVE RECALLING

“Flectere ad voluntatem.”

An Arbiter will find that they are able to utilize Tahariae’s grace within them, and the heavenly light of the creator around them in new and skillful ways to create harmless effects as though it were an extension of their own form. An Arbiter may create light from the blessing of Tahariae’s grace, as well as refract the light around them.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Flectere ad voluntatem.” in order to call forth Tahariae’s blessing and bend light to their will for the purposes of depicting stories and creating heavenly effects within a range of twenty (20) meters, or #RP range, around them. Though this ability is largely freeform, it is meant for the purpose of flavorful roleplay and storytelling.

Effects can include but are not limited to: Bending light, creating and shaping light to depict a scene, refracting light akin to a prism to create a rainbow of colors, carving glowing words into a surface, and lighting unlit fire sources which will then burst into mundane flames.

 

Although this ability is largely freeform, the first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace, the second emote should be the creation of the heavenly effect.

 

REDLINES

These effects must occur within a range of twenty (20) meters, or #RP range of the Arbiter.

 

These effects will dissipate upon the start of combat.

These effects can not be used to blind or harm anyone in any capacity.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

 

SUMMON STAG

“Iungere latus meum.”

(Non-Combative / Combative / Active)

 

An Arbiter may summon forth a physical manifestation of Tahariae’s blessing that is embedded within their soul. A white or silver stag of ephemeral light can be called forth to bound out of the Arbiter. This steed can then be used to assist the Arbiter with long treks through the descendant realm, and is otherwise a stalwart and unflinching companion.

MECHANICS

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Iungere latus meum.” in order to summon forth a physical manifestation of Tahariae’s blessing in the form of a stag. This summon can then be used to assist the Arbiter with long treks through the descendant realm, and is otherwise a stalwart and unflinching companion. It is only able to be used as a mount and serves no other purpose. It is not an independent summon and not attack or defend.

Although this ability is largely freeform, the first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls forth Tahariae’s grace, and the second should be summoning an ephemeral white or silver stag made of light.

 

REDLINES

This steed is always a white or silver stag manifested of Tahariae’s light.

 

The steed summoned by an Arbiter, although a manifestation of Tahariae’s light, can hold up to two riders at one time.

 

The steed must be mechanically represented by a horse while being ridden.

 

This steed can be brought into combat from out of combat, however it can not act in any capacity outside of the functions of a mount. This steed can not be made to attack in any capacity.

 

This steed can absorb two [2] direct hits of any kind, after which it will forcibly dissipate and must be resummoned. 

 

This steed can not tank or block a hit meant for its rider. This steed can not be summoned at the last moment to block an attack.

 

Only one steed may be summoned at a time, and a steed can only be summoned one [1] time per combat.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

STAG’S STEP

“Revertamur.”

[T2] [1 Emote: 1 Chant and Cast | 1 Grace]

(Non-Combative / Active)

 

An Arbiter will find that their summoned manifestation of Tahariae’s blessing is more than just a useful steed, as they assist the Arbiter with traveling long distances in the span of moments. Effectively ferrying them away to elsewhere.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Revertamur.” while mounted upon their steed in order to have it ferry them away, such as bounding off into the sky, bounding through a portal of shimmering light, or dispersing into a ray of light in order to appear elsewhere. 

 

Although this ability is largely freeform, the emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s grace, followed by the steed carrying them off to elsewhere through some means.

 

REDLINES

Stag’s Step can only be used while the Arbiter is riding or mounted upon their summoned steed.

 

Stag’s Step is purely an aesthetic for soulstoning, and follows all rules for soulstoning.

 

This incantation can not be used during combat, or to escape combat. This incantation can not be used if a proper halt emote has been made.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

 

LIGHT OF VINDICATION

“Radius vindictae.”

[T1] [3 Emotes: 1 Chant + 1 Charge + 1 Cast | 3 Grace]

(Combative / Active)

 

An Arbiter may call upon their blessing in order to create a ray of light from above, focused on a single target within line of sight. Over the course of three emotes, the ray of light will grow brighter, until descending with terrifying force. A ‘revealed impure’ being caught by this will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae's light.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Radius vindictae.” in order to call upon Tahariae’s grace and create a ray of light from above, focused on a single target within line of sight (up to a maximum range of twenty [20] meters, or #rp range). 

 

A ‘revealed impure’ being caught by this will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae's light, interrupting any connection or spell charging, and leaving first degree burns upon the areas caught in the light.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace and a ray of light appears over the target’s head, the second should be that ray of light shining and growing brighter above the target, and the third should be the ray of light descending upon the target.

 

REDLINES

The target must be within line of sight (up to a maximum range of twent [20] meters, or #rp range) in order for the incantation to be cast.

 

The ray of light is created, and therefore can be used indoors or when in the dark. The ray of light is one [1] meter wide and up five [5] meters tall.

 

This ray of light can be avoided by moving at least [4] meters directly prior to the casting emote with the specific intention to dodge it.

 

The burns left by this light will pierce through clothes, light armor, and medium armor, but not heavy armor.

 

This incantation only affects ‘revealed impure’ beings, this means that the Arbiter must be aware of an impure being’s true nature. This incantation can not be used to metagame or ‘darkspawn test’ by any means.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

INTERVENTION

“Ego non sinam.”

[T2] [1 Emote: 1 Chant and Cast | 2 Grace]

(Combative / Active)

 

In times of battle, an Arbiter may find that they wish to rush to their ally’s side in order to protect them. An Arbiter may call forth their blessing in order to rush forwards up to eight [8] meters (or twelve [12] meters while mounted) towards a target ally, with a trail of heavenly light following behind the Arbiter’s path. Upon arriving, the Arbiter will take any incoming thrown or projectile attacks meant for the target ally.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Ego non sinam.” in order to call upon Tahariae’s blessing and rush forwards up to eight [8] meters (or twelve [12] meters while mounted) towards a target ally, with a trail of heavenly light following behind the Arbiter’s path. Upon arriving, the Arbiter will take any incoming thrown or projectile attacks meant for the target ally.

 

The emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace, and then the Arbiter rushing to their ally with a trail of white or silver light appearing behind them.

 

REDLINES

The target ally must be within line of sight and within the Arbiter’s full sprinting movement (either eight [8] meters while unmounted or twelve [12] meters while mounted), in order for the incantation to be cast. If there is no target ally, then this incantation can not be used.

 

The movement portion of this incantation can not be used to get to somewhere that they could not access mechanically, unless allowed with OOC consent or with staff discretion.

 

This movement is not a teleport, it can not be used to phase through people or structures.

 

This ability has a cooldown of one [1] emote between uses, and can be used up to a maximum of three [3] times per combat.

 

If the Arbiter is mounted, this incantation utilizes a mount’s sprinting movement instead. The Arbiter must still be the one to take the attack, it can not be taken by the mount.

 

If there is an incoming attack on the target ally, it must be taken by the Arbiter. It can not be fully blocked or negated.

 

This movement is not quick enough to intercept a melee attack, however, it can intercept most thrown or projectile attacks unless their lore specifies otherwise.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

 

SHIELD OF FAITH

“Fides protegit.”

[T2] [2 Emotes: 1 Chant + 1 Cast | 4 Grace]

(Combative / Active)

 

An Arbiter may find themselves wishing to protect themselves or another from impure magics. They may call upon their blessing in order to summon forth a shield of Tahariae’s light, either in front of the Arbiter or a target ally. This shield negates deific and dark magic of tier three [3] or lower that comes into contact with it, and upon negating any spell the shield will dissipate.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Fides protegit.” in order to summon forth a shield of Tahariae’s light, that is one [1] meter wide and two [2] meters tall, either in front of the Arbiter or a target ally. This shield negates deific and dark magic of tier three [3] or lower that comes into contact with it, and upon negating any spell the shield will dissipate. 

 

Items that pass through the shield that are imbued with deific and dark magic or any enchantment will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes, though it will not protect the target from the physical attack.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace, the second should be the Arbiter summoning forth an ephemeral shield of Tahariae’s light in front of either themself or an ally.

 

REDLINES

The target must be within line of sight (up to a maximum range of twenty [20] meters, or #rp range) in order for the incantation to be cast.

 

This shield is one [1] meter wide and two [2] meters tall, its aesthetics can vary but must be white or silver in color and made out of light. It is not a physical shield.

 

This shield lasts for a total of three [3] emotes, after which it will dissipate, even if it has not negated any spells.

Physical projectiles, thrown weapons, and melee weapons will pass through the shield.

 

Items that pass through the shield that are imbued with deific and dark magic or any enchantment will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes, though it will not protect the target from the physical attack.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

 

PILLARS OF VINDICATION

“Columnae vindictae.”

[T3] [3 Emotes: 1 Chant + 1 Charge + 1 Cast | 3 Grace]

(Combative / Active)

 

An Arbiter may call upon their blessing in order to channel forth up to two [2] pillars of light from above. A ‘revealed impure’ being caught by this will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae's light. The pillars will persist for a total of three [3] emotes. If the Arbiter wishes, an additional [1] grace per pillar can be spent to expand these pillars into a three [3] meter wide wall.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Columnae vindictae.” in order to call upon Tahariae’s blessing and channel forth up to two [2] pillars of light from above, which are one [1] meter wide and no more than five [5] meters tall. Over the course of three emotes, the rays of light will grow brighter, until descending with terrifying force.

 

Upon casting, the Arbiter may decide to expand these pillars into a three [3] meter wide wall. If the pillars are expanded in this way, the wall will negate deific and dark magic of tier three [3] or lower that pass through it.

 

A ‘revealed impure’ being caught by this will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae's light, interrupting any connection or spell charging, and leaving first degree burns upon the areas caught in the light.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace as two rays of light begin to shine overhead, the second should be the two rays of light growing brighter, and the third should be the pillars of light being called down, and expanding should the Arbiter chose to expand them.

 

REDLINES

The targeted areas must be within line of sight (up to a maximum range of twenty [20] meters, or #rp range) in order for the incantation to be cast, and the locations of the pillars are determined on the casting emote.

 

The pillars are one [1] meter wide, no more than five [5] meters tall, and last for up to three [3] emotes. 

 

Pillars can not be stacked or overlaid on each other for additional effect.

 

Pillars can not be moved once they are summoned.

 

The burns left by this light will pierce through clothes, light armor, and medium armor, but not heavy armor.

 

This incantation only affects ‘revealed impure’ beings, this means that the Arbiter must be aware of an impure being’s true nature. This incantation can not be used to metagame or ‘darkspawn test’ by any means.

 

The incantation must be spoken in #RP or #S on the chant emote. This incantation is unable to be used if the Arbiter is unable to speak, such as being stunned or silenced.

 

 

TRAMPLE

“Progredi et domare.”

An Arbiter may call upon Tahariae’s blessing in order to summon an ephemeral white stag; which will rush forwards up to eight [8] meters with terrifying force, passing through and knocking down those it comes into contact with before dissipating.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Progredi et domare.” in order to call upon Tahariae’s blessing and summon an ephemeral white stag of manifested light, over the course of three emotes. Upon casting, the stag will rush forwards up to eight [8] meters with terrifying force, passing through and knocking down those it comes into contact with before dissipating.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace, the second should be the stag forming at a target location out of light, and the third should be the stag rushing forwards.

 

REDLINES

The stag must be summoned within line of sight (up to a maximum range of twenty [20] meters, or #rp range), and may be facing any direction.

 

The stag may only move forwards in a straight line that is considered two [2] meters wide and up to eight [8] meters long.

 

The stag’s charge will knock down anyone in its path, including allies.

 

Beings that are of olog weight or larger will be staggered instead of being knocked down.

 

The stag dissipates after its charge. It is not considered an independent summon. It can not attack or perform any action outside of this charge.

An Arbiter may find themselves wishing to ensnare a fleeing foe in order to enact judgment upon them. They are able to call upon their blessing to cause threads of heavenly white light to shoot out and wrap about a target’s legs, to cause them to be unable to move for three [3] emotes. An Arbiter must focus on these threads, and can not move, attack, or defend while they are binding another.

REDLINES

The target must be within line of sight (up to a maximum range of eight [8] meters) in order for the incantation to be cast.

 

A target wrapped in these threads will still be able to attack and defend, though they will not be able to move for the duration that the threads are wrapped about them. A person being binded may instead choose to struggle out of the threads for one [1] full emote to escape the duration early.

 

These chains can be avoided by moving at least four [4] meters directly prior to the casting emote with the specific intention to dodge it.

 

An Arbiter must focus on these threads, and can not move, attack, or defend while they are binding another.

 

The burns left by this light will pierce through clothes, light armor, and medium armor, but not heavy armor.

 

Beings that are larger than an olog may not be able to be bound by faith's fetters, with the discretion of ST during events.

 

This incantation only affects ‘revealed impure’ beings, this means that the Arbiter must be aware of an impure being’s true nature. This incantation can not be used to metagame or ‘darkspawn test’ by any means.

SUPREME VERDICT

One of the Arbiter’s most potent incantations, an Arbiter may wish to pass judgment upon those impure who cross their path. They are able to call upon their blessing in order to expand the grace within them, bursting outwards in a ring that blinds ‘revealed impure’ in the area for a duration of [2] emotes, and for all others will heal all minor wounds (bruises, scrapes, lacerations) and numbs all pain for a duration of three [3] emotes.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Pondus animae tuae.” in order to cause the grace within to burst outwards. Over the course of three emotes, Tahariae’s light will grow within the Arbiter's chest, before expelling from them in a burst of light eight [8] meters (or twelve [12] meters while mounted) around the Arbiter.

 

A ‘revealed impure’ being caught by this will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae's light, interrupting any connection or spell charging, and leaving first degree burns upon the areas caught in the light, and will be blinded for two [2] emotes.

 

All others caught in this light will feel a comforting warmth come over them, which heals all minor wounds (bruises, scrapes, lacerations) and numbs all pain for a duration of three [3] emotes. Although the pain is numbed, this does not heal moderate or major wounds, and continuing on with such wounds can exacerbate their impact, and prove dangerous or even lethal.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace and a heavenly glow beginning to emanate from one’s chest, the second should be the glow growing in intensity as it is near ready to burst, then the third should be the light bursting from the Arbiters form in a ring around them.

 

REDLINES

The burns left by this light will pierce through clothes and light armor, but not medium or heavy armor.

 

Revealed impure beings caught in this light can avoid being blinded by closing or otherwise covering their eyes directly prior to the casting emote.

 

The Arbiter casting the spell is also affected by this judgment. Arbiters are considered ‘revealed impure’ beings.

 

This incantation only heals minor wounds. It can not heal moderate or major wounds, such as: gashes, cuts, impalements, broken bones, etc. Please review the wound table under ‘rites of healing and purging’ for more information on wounds.

One of the Arbiter’s most potent incantations, an Arbiter may find themselves wishing to aid their allies and help contend with the impure powers that they may be facing. An Arbiter may call upon their blessing to create a dome of Tahariae’s light in an area around them, and this dome must be focused on completely in order to be maintained. An Arbiter may not move, attack, or defend while maintaining the dome.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Hic es tutus.” in order to call upon Tahariae’s blessing and create a dome manifested of his light with an eight [8] meter diameter (or twelve [12] meter diameter while mounted). The Arbiter must focus solely on maintaining the dome and can not attack, defend, or move while maintaining it, and can maintain the dome for up to three [3] emotes.

 

This dome negates deific and dark magic of tier four [4] or lower that comes into contact with it, though physical projectiles and thrown weapons will pass through as normal. Items that are imbued with deific or dark magic will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes.

 

While inside the dome all other deific and dark magics take an additional emote to be casted.

 

A ‘revealed impure’ being that comes into contact with the dome’s walls will feel as though they are burning from the inside out by Tahariae’s light, interrupting any connection and spell charge, leaving first degree burns upon the areas caught in the light.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace, the second should be a heavenly glow beginning to emanate from one’s chest, the third should be the glow growing in intensity as it is near ready to burst, then the fourth should be the light bursting from the Arbiters form in a bubble around them.

 

REDLINES

Those inside the dome may not hear what is happening outside, and those outside the dome may not hear what is happening inside. Vision into the dome is blurry, obscured by Tahariae’s light.

 

The dome possesses no physical force, people can physically pass into and out of the dome with ease. 

 

The burns left by this light will pierce through clothes, light armor, and medium armor, but not heavy armor.

 

Physical projectiles, thrown weapons, and melee weapons will pass through the dome.

 

Items that pass through the shield that are imbued with deific or dark magic will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes.

 

The dome can be dropped at any point in order to defend or move. Though the Arbiter can not attack in the same emote that the dome is dropped.

THE RITES OF HEALING AND PURGING

 

The second greatest of Tahariae’s gifts is that of healing. Few others have such a power over the mortal form to mend what is broken, and to restore what is impure. It is through these miraculous feats that Arbiters strive towards the vision of purity.

 

Wounds that can be healed are categorized into the following categories:

 

Minor Wounds: Scrapes, Bruises and Lacerations. Everyday wounds that do not cause significant impairment.

Moderate Wounds: Gashes, Cuts, Broken Bones and Punctures. Wounds that are debilitating and cause moderate impairment.
Major Wounds: Impalement, Dismemberment and Mutilation. Wounds that are severely debilitating and cause permanent impairment or death.

 

MENDING

“Laesus Reparare.”

[T3] [2 Emotes: 1 Chant + 1 Cast | 5 Grace]

An Arbiter may wish to relieve another of their pain and suffering, electing insead to take it upon themselves. They may lay their hands upon an injured person and call forth their blessing, transferring the wounds inflicted unto themself in order to heal.

An Arbiter may place their hands upon a person and incant the following phrase, “Laesus Reparare.” while connected in order to imbue another with Tahariae’s light, causing the person’s flesh to mend and come back together over the course of three emotes. 

 

This incantation mends all minor and moderate wounds such as cuts, scrapes, gashes, impalements, and even broken bones. However, all wounds that are mended in this way are transferred to the Arbiter that is performing the incantation. This is a one to one ratio. If a broken bone is mended, then the Arbiter will have their bone broken in the same location.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter connects to Tahariae’s grace and placing their hands upon another person as light begins to emit from them, and the second should be the wounds upon that person mending with the Arbiter taking those wounds in their place.

Mending can heal minor and moderate wounds, however the Arbiter receives all wounds that are mended in this way.

 

The ratio of wounds transferred is one to one. If a broken bone is mended, then the Arbiter will have their bone broken in the same location.

 

In order to use Mending, an Arbiter must physically touch the person that they are attempting to heal on the chant emote. This incantation can not be done at range.

This rite can heal almost all manners of harm to a mortal form, though can not be used to bring someone beyond the threshold of death.

 

This rite takes too long to heal lethal wounds, though if a lethally wounded person was stabilized through some other means, this rite could then be used.

This rite can be used to heal minor, moderate, and major wounds, including but not limited to: Missing limbs, missing eyes, missing tongues, mundane paralysis due to a spinal injury, broken bones, and organ damage.

 

This rite can only heal one missing limb at a time, and must be performed multiple times to restore more than one limb.

 

Limbs regrown with this rite will appear stonelike, akin to white marble, though is no stronger or weaker than a normal limb. However, it is twice as heavy as a normal limb would be, making it inherently more clumsy to use. Additionally, the limb can withstand three [3] blunt attacks in an encounter, after which it will be rendered 'destroyed' and will not be repairable or functional. The limb can regenerate minor damage to itself outside of combat, so long as it is not destroyed.

 

This rite can only be performed once every three [3] OOC days.

 

 

[T3-5][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF LESSER PURGING must be performed by at least one [1] Arbiter of tier three [3] or higher, and have been taught this rite. A total of five [5] grace must be generated by the Arbiter over a period of at least four [4] emotes, by calling upon Tahariae’s blessing to cleanse the malediction of an item or object.

Though this rite can vary for flavor, it should follow these core aspects; The first emote should be the Arbiter speaking the incantation, the second emote should be the Arbiter laying their hands upon the item or object, the third emote should be light beginning to glow from the Arbiter’s hands, and the fourth should be the affliction upon the item breaking. 

 

This rite does not come without a cost, the process of purging an afflicted object, inflicts great emotional strain on the Arbiters performing it as they come into contact with the impure in order to cleanse it as it exacerbates the eternal feeling of Tahariae’s silent judgment.

[T4-5][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF GREATER PURGING must be performed by at least three [3] Arbiters of tier four [4] or higher, and have been taught this rite. A total of thirty [30] grace must be generated amongst the three [3] Arbiters over a period of at least five [5] emotes, by calling upon Tahariae’s blessing to right what is impure with a soul.

Though this rite does not come without a cost, the process of purging an impure soul is excruciatingly painful for the one being cleansed as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and the process inflicts great emotional strain on the Arbiters performing it as they come into contact with the impure in order to cleanse it as it exacerbates the eternal feeling of Tahariae’s silent judgment.

 

For one [1] year (one [1] OOC week) following being purged, the one who was purged will carry with them the constant feeling of someone or something judging them from just out of sight, as though Tahariae wishes for them to remember his expectations.

THE RITES OF RESPLENDENCE AND PERSEVERANCE

 

The greatest of Tahariae’s gifts is that of perseverance through defeat. Though Arbiters are a tool and extension to fulfill the vision of purity, only the most leal, faithful and successful of his followers will come to know the true measure of Tahariae’s gifts. For he seeks to maintain and keep those Arbiters of his who have proven themselves quality servants, worthy of his efforts.
 

[T3-5][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF RESPLENDENCE must be performed by at least four [4] Arbiters of tier three [3] or higher, two [2] of which must be tier five [5] and have been taught this rite. A total of fifty [50] grace must be generated amongst the four Arbiters, over a period of at least six [6] emotes, by calling upon Tahariae to bless an area before them.

Though this rite can vary for flavor, it should follow these core aspects; The first and second emotes should be the Arbiters speaking the incantation, the third and forth emotes should be Arbiter’s manifestations of their blessing bounding out of their chest in the form of an ephemeral stag and circling the area as a herd, the fifth and sixth emotes should be the formation of a tree or a small grouping of trees out of light, which then solidifies into a Resplendent Forest.

 

Once the area is blessed, the tree or small grouping of trees will become reminiscent of Tahariae’s realm. It is this Resplendent Forest from which Arbiters will return when the rite of perseverance is performed. Additionally, while inside this area, Arbiters will always feel the full weight of Tahariae’s judgment upon them, akin to an oppressive force upon one’s shoulders. It should be noted that this grouping of trees is completely unconnected to the realms of the Aspects, meaning that the Balance cannot be heard.

The rite of resplendence must be led by two [2] tier five [5] Arbiters who have learned the rite and have it marked on their MA.

The rite of resplendence must be performed by at least four [4] Arbiters of tier three [3] or higher, including the two [2] Arbiters that are leading the rite.

A cumulative total of fifty [50] grace must be generated in order to bless the area. Arbiters who participate in this rite are unable to generate more grace for three [3] OOC days.

 

PRO / RO permission is not required to create a Resplendent Forest, however at least one [1] of the Arbiters must have appropriate access to build in the area.

 

A Resplendent Forest must be ST signed, and can be no larger than a 10x10x10 area.

 

This rite can only be performed by the lead Arbiters once every three [3] OOC weeks.

 

This rite is unique and is not required in order for an Arbiter to apply for a TA.

 

[T1][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF PERSEVERANCE can only be performed by an Arbiter of tier one [1] or higher and is inherently learned upon being connected. Upon receiving lethal wounds and perishing, this rite will be enacted automatically by Tahariae’s blessing. The Arbiter’s soul will become lost in Tahariae’s realm for three [3] months (three [3] OOC days), where they will be assailed by visions of the White Stag himself, and forced to contend with the despair of their failure.

After this period of time, they will emerge from a Resplendent Forest, with a weakened form, and wracked with an intense feeling of that ever-lingering judgment being cast upon them. They will also be unable to generate grace for a period of three [3] OOC days.

The rite of perseverance must be performed by a tier one [1] or higher Arbiter.

The character will be unable to be played for a period of three [3] OOC days as they go through the process of respawning.

 

After respawning, they will find themselves at a Resplendent Forest, and will be unable to generate grace for three [3] OOC days.

 

If there is no Resplendent Forest, they will be unable to return from Tahariae’s realm and will instead be lost there until one is created.

 

This rite can not be used to metagame information about the circumstances of one’s death. The Arbiter is only left with the lingering despair of having failed Tahariae, and maintains no memories about the circumstances of their death.

 

Should a connected Arbiter be PK’d by any means, they will not go to Tahariae’s realm nor to any other afterlife. Instead they will be purged by Tahariae, their soul reduced to nothingness. For they are impure and have no permanent place in His vision, once they are unable to continue their purpose.

 

 

 

THE RITE OF DISAVOWMENT

 

Should an Arbiter determine that another Arbiter is unfit to serve the vision of purity, such as a lack of moral character, a breaking of a tenant, or for other reasons, they may carefully weigh the option of disavowing Tahariae’s blessing within their fellow Arbiter. This is seen as a last recourse and a terrible act, as being disavowed does not restore the tarnishment of one’s purity, and because Tahariae has little tolerance for further failure and thus will not give his blessing a second time.

 

In order to disavow a fellow Arbiter three [3] tier five [5] Arbiters who have been taught this rite must come together to perform this rite at a Resplendent Forest. The nature of the disconnection is largely freeform and up to the discretion of the Arbiters performing the rite. However, the following core aspects should occur:

 

The Arbiter being disavowed should be bound with Faith’s Fetters, and the Arbiters performing the rite must call out to the shard of Tahariae’s light within the one being disavowed with an incantation.

Following this, the shard of Tahariae’s light will bound out of the one being disavowed in the form of a white stag, an ephemeral manifestation of Tahariae’s blessing. It will then turn on the one it was called out of- goring the once-Arbiter and trampling upon them, before then disappearing into the Resplendent Forest, never to be called upon again.

The Rite of Disavowment can only be taught to a tier five [5] Arbiter. It cannot be inferred or observed passively, and must be actively taught. This rite must be marked on the Arbiter’s MA. Disconnections are only valid if all the Arbiters performing it meet these qualifications.

 

Three [3] tier five [5] Arbiters who have been taught this rite are required to perform it.

 

Although this rite is freeform, it requires at least six [6] well written emotes.

 

This rite is required to be performed at a Resplendent Forest.

 

This rite is unique and is not required in order for an Arbiter to apply for a TA.

 

This rite does not require OOC consent.

 

This rite can not be performed during combat.

An Arbiter who is disavowed will have their Arbiter MA denied.

 

Once an Arbiter is disavowed, Tahariae will not grant his blessing to them a second time. Arbiters only have one chance to fulfill his will, and he has little tolerance for failures.

 

Arbiters who are connected will forever have their soul marked by Tahariae’s blessing, and thus will be unable to take on any magic or feat that would be deemed impure, even upon being disconnected. 

 

 

 

PURPOSE

I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be funny if minecraft user Ibleesian wrote a holy magic?” So here we are. Clerics have had a storied past with a lot of issues and pain points, both in terms of community and lore. I wanted to step away from those things and give Tahariae’s recent rewrite a brand new magic. Healing and Support magic is an archetype that can tend to be bland, and difficult to balance due to its tendency to simply wipe away roleplay impact. I believe I’ve struck a good balance between lasting roleplay while still fulfilling the class fantasy of a support.

 

I also know Tahariae himself has, in the past, been a rather disliked Aengul who has been misused and abused. Purity can tend to be a pretty vague and esoteric subject, so with this lore I hope to give his ideals and current state further depth in an easily digestible way. I hope that my personal interpretation of purity is interesting and in line with his accepted lore piece.

I will say lastly that I am generally very insecure about my writing, but it's been a great learning experience for me in terms of balance and formatting. I wrote this for fun, so even if it doesn't get accepted I feel like I've gotten something good out of it.
