Hark the Herald of the Ravenlord!

 

Upon the hour of twilight within the Corvid Palace, the Raven Lords met to discuss the realm and the future of the Smallfolk upon the grounds of future Caerfran. All the Lords were invited, primarily those of Blackworth and those of Rhosmark. All Lords Representing Blackworth had attended, whilst the Rhosmark stands laid empty.

 

It was a slight to his Majesty; to the Sovereign and the Realm. And, it was then a singular man had arrived,

sent supposedly to represent Rhosmark and Richard Achilles Stassion. 

 

Interrupted; during time of regular session the Stassionite interrupted the procession respectfully; respect ended therein, for immediately words of Treason were thrown. The man would belittle the sovereignty of Ravenmire. He had claimed that despite living upon Ravenmire soil the land was separate; he had claimed Rhosmark was merely leasing the land despite records not corroborating this, and even then, in terms of lease the family of Stassion was…

to the crown. A Number which was supposed to be paid yearly to maintain the lands but was not.

 

To those who claim the man was but a grunt or a fleeper, those same words were sent to the sovereign via a letter signed and stamped by the seal of Richard Achilles Stassion.

It was then decreed;

 

Traitors shall die a Traitor’s death.

 

Though, in fairness, the man was simply restrained and lost his tongue for his insolence. He was told that the host and levy of Ravenmire and the Duchy of Blackworth would descend upon Stassion and drive his yoke from the lands; he was told this so that the guard of Rhosmark could muster some defense due to the land being composed of petty backwater “Nobles” and thieves.

 

For Naught but death.

 

Fire, first it was set upon the fields; then, the city.

 

Rhosmark’s walls were breached easily as the armies of the Ravenlords marched within the decrepit and deserted “city” in which chaos would become insurmountable.

 

There was No Resistance.

 

The Man who was sent ahead of the host to warn his own people, seemed to not even ring the bell of the watch of which he professed to be a part of. Instead it was assumed that the man scrambled into the Stassionite palace to loot the treasures, paintings and regalia of his own liege lords

 

For, when the Armies of the Ravenlords breached the palace, they had found little remaining tapestries and Orenian monuments of which used to litter the halls.

 

Making his way to the Stassionite throne hall, The Sovereign Earoslav of House Rostova, first of his name, took seat. Reclaiming HIS land, demanding oaths of the Ravenlords present of which were given, And to where, the Sovereign made a decree and a vow to the Smallfolk of Ravenmire and their liege lords to protect them from any such treachery in the coming years.

 

So I say unto you non Stassionite houses under the Orenian yoke.

Die a Traitor’s death?

 

If you do not wish to suffer being drawn and quartered as those of House Stassion would suffer, send word to His Majesty and swear fealty as the remaining Ravenlords have. Bend the knee, renew your oaths of fealty, and your lands and titles shall thus go unharmed. Refuse, and your keeps shall be seized and your titles returned to the Crown.

 

Let it at last be said that henceforth, the Crown will not so easily forget acts of treason or tolerate unpaid taxes. The House of Stassion is hereby exiled from the Sovereignty of Ravenmire and all titles they held within the Sovereignty are hereby revoked.

Cordelia Claudine read the missive with disgust, "The fat oaf claims to protect the smallfolk yet burns their very homes without care? Oh how the scorn of ignorant children ruin the good works of their parentage." She lamented as she crumpled the missive. "It is known the house of Stassion never swore fealty, and now they seek to claim titles that were never pledged to them! What has the world gone to when lords build walls of lies to protect themselves! Is this the way Ravenmire seeks to inspire loyalty? Under brutal fire and brimstone?" She'd turn the reigns of her horse back toward Rhosmark, seeking to provide aid and shelter for the smallfolk savaged by the evil Earoslav. "Thus I say, if it is fire and blood this false protector of the smallfolk lives by, it is fire he will be consumed by in the seven hells!"

The Carrot Merchant finds the marks of a failed attempt to bandit their stall, the fire beginning to spread to it. It was easy to put out the flames, even easier to re-secure it, and easier still to relocate the undamaged goods elsewhere. The only thing lost were the plans to move that stall to Blackworth.
