New Chapter

I'm not going to go into a long-winded explanation of everything I have been through over the past 7 years, I have been active on and off the server. Suffice to say, I have witnessed many players become jaded by persistent issues that are never resolved, and so their spark for the server is ultimately crushed. The past two years, I have seen something bordering on this, in which a player has been continually harassed, and despite consistent reporting to both moderation and admins, any meaningful action has yet to be taken to alleviate it, despite said players being warned that it has persisted and only spread further and again, nothing is done. I've heard a player getting banned for literally asking if something they WANTED to do is metagaming. Yet I've reported a conversation that happened in a Discord in which another player claimed another was a pdf and shortly after admitted it was 'trolling', and I think all that happened was they MAYBE got warned. What are the priorities here with the moderation of the community? They've felt absolutely non-existent to me because there is a weird gap in which some cases can be handled by moderation, and in some cases, by admins. I'm not sure what it actually is, but the fact of the matter is, it sucks to deal with. Instead of taking time to grieve and recollect myself after my cat had passed away or spend time with my family or play other videos games or even simply just log on the server and enjoy the roleplay as much as I could (or just ignore these issues), I tried to do things the 'right' way by making sure instances with these problem players were reported so they'd be properly dealt with and not cause issues for other players, I've gotten nothing back while I either find myself ghosted or they've continued to not only harrass me, but others as I feared. Seemingly, it would have been a better use of my time to paste everything all over the forums to try to get rid of them through communal shaming.

I legitimately wonder how many players who were just minding their own business have had similar experiences and have had to simply suck it up or otherwise just ended up crashing out or quitting the server entirely. Because this has been happening over and over again, if you want to be stewards for player creativity and the like, I don't want to see another forum post unless its actually detailing what changes are going to be, how certain issues are going to be addressed, and how you will be held accountable should something like this happen again, take a look towards how No Man's Sky made a comeback, or how Runescape handled EoC and OSRS to bounce back. It was the actions they took to regain player trust, not asking players to 'trust me bro' for the millionth time. I legitimately hope for the sake of LotC that players keep up this pressure until some real changes happen, because LotC has so much potential to be such a great server, but it will never realise it when we crush players down with apathy and neglect. I am hopeful, but I have to remain sceptical until real action is taken.

Undoing a horrible mistake and appointing someone to a position they've held in the eyes of players for months now isn't a new chapter.
