What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?:

  • Applicant has a good sense of what roleplaying, metagaming, and powergaming is.

I admit it, when I first joined Lord of the Craft, I had not a lot of knowledge of what metagaming and powergaming is. At the time my application was posted, there was no section for it. Luckily, I had pertained enough knowledge to know what was fair and not. However, this server brought me to learn a lot of new things, even encouraging me to research more of the depicted topic. I encourage applicants to have enough through knowledge of metagaming and powergaming prior to their first day of Lord of the Craft. At times, I may be lenient about decisions I make, however, since metagaming and powergaming are a key factor in the rules of Lord of the Craft, I expect applicants to know about this before submitting their applications. I also make sure that ((OOC)) isn't used to their advantage. Another key factor that Lord of the Craft implements as it's specialty is roleplaying. Now, in Lord of the Craft, exemption of roleplaying can get you banned. I believe it's the applicant's duty to know what this server is before applying just because it looks "cool". I'd rather have the server have a population of less people who take roleplaying seriously, than random 8 year old immature kids bouncing around and killing innocents. I believe that roleplaying is "the changing of one's behavior to assume another." If the applicant's explanation doesn't appear close to that, I will deny his application even if the rest of his application was over the top.

  • Applicant has good spelling and grammar.

One thing I cannot tolerate is horrible grammar and spelling. Not only do I type professional on the Lord of the Craft forums, but I also type like so in other cases. It's a great habit for me. However, if the applicant shows horrible use of grammar and spelling, I will instantly know that the applicant is not set to enjoy the server the right way. Occasionally, us being humans, will make mistakes. This is totally inevitable. However, when I read an application, this should be avoidable especially if the applicant proofreads their application. The forum provides many tools, such as spell check, that will proofread faster. Showing no proofreading displays how lazy this applicant must be and will be in the server. Effort is key and crucial.

  • Applicant shows a large amount of effort.

Tying in to my previous reason, effort determines how much fun the applicant and other players of Lord of the Craft will have. Effort brings forth determination. Determination brings forth a positive attitude. Lord of the Craft is a big happy family who should stay positive. Positivity inflicts the future of what Lord of the Craft will grow to become. However, negativity will ruin the experience for other Lord of the Craft players. Simple one sentence questions to questions that could hold a lot more shows poor determination to the server and will not get applicants accepted. I would love to bring forth new players with such creative minds that can shape the lore of Aegis. I notice, a lot of times, applicants don't even write a full sentence in their applications. This shows how they are not taking this server serious and should not be welcomed to the server. However, instead of listing what applicants do wrong. I prefer listing ways they can improve their application. If they just read what they did wrong, they would just edit what they already had based off of instructions. Instead, to have applicants show authenticity, I would encourage ways for applicants to think about what they could do to change. For example, if an applicant were to say that their elven character was 27, I would say "That elf must be very very young!" rather than saying "Remember, elven years are different than human years. Refer back to the wiki." This will give time for applicants to research more about the lore than to just go look straight at the wiki. These semi-hints will have they thinking for maybe 2 days straight. Remember, applications can be submitted again 2 days later.

  • Applicant shows prior knowledge by reading the lore.

When I first saw Lord of the Craft on Minestatus, I instantly knew I'd love this server. However, looking at server applications made me worried as many applications were rejected. Instead of instantly submitting an application, I had read as much of the lore as a I could. When I was done, it had been 2-3 days. I found this time very productive and helpful as I became accepted after my first application! I think this is exactly what applicants should do. Not only will it help them become accepted, but it will also help the have a better understanding about the world of Aegis. As a human, I instantly knew what to do and where to go. A lot of the servers I used to play on were boring to me only because I never read the wiki. It took me months before I finally learned the server and I started enjoying it. Luckily, since I read the lore of Lord of the Craft earlier, I never got bored from the start. Reading the lore will keep new players occupied for quite a while and might even help them write their own lore!

  • Applicant has an original, realistic, and creative biography whilst showing honesty.

Talking about players writing their own lore, I also encourage players to take time and effort into writing their biography. Knowing a lot from the biography will tell me whether or not the player will fit right in place in Aegis. I am very nitpicky when it comes to biographies. I enjoy reading biographies but not when it has no sense of originality. Anyone can easily plagiarize other's work which can be annoying to work with. It wouldn't be fair if one puts so much effort into their biography when someone else easily just steals it from them. This contradicts the creativity the server provides. Anyone who does so, I believe, are not welcome to the server. However, I encourage applicants to read other's applications to be inspired and influenced. If biographies share some common traits, it can lead to friendship between two but eternal hatred if plagiarized. I cannot handle biographies that are unrealistic. Unrealistic can somewhat be powergaming, especially if characters have super powers. If those kinds of applications are accepted, players would be very unfair. In the end, the best biographies are the creative ones to me.

Side note-

At times I can be lenient, however, at other times I could be very strict.

What do you think are the top five things, that are the most important in an application and why?

1.Reading accepted applications and all the help threads. It only takes about 20-25 minutes and it does boost your application. You can also see how the others did their application, and then model from that.

2.Your character can't be skilled at everything.E.g he can't be a warrior who is a great farmer who also is awesome and reading and writing And lumberjacking and other various things. In other words Be Realistic.

For example only 1-2 skills are needed when you apply.

3.Biography.

Many have put this before, but i believe that many people and many gms care about the biography. It basically tells us about the applicant so they can know about him.It does also help you when your registering your character card. But there is an art with it,you shouldn't make it too long or a wall of text.but not too small.

4.Know the rules.

Yes an applicant should know the rules, and know what metagaming is.He should also know what power gaming is and the Mary/Gus stu There are guides on these kind of things and most of them have been pinned for the applicants to read.It also helps you in the long term since you won't get ban reports on you.(If you don't break the rules). Also an applicant shouldn't DDOS that he got denied. Its not needed thats all i can say.

5.Patience is a virtue

Don't worry i got denied 4 times!.You must try your best and you get accepted.Everyone gets denied on their 1st app(Not everyone but most people...) And sometimes apps don't get read.Dont worry gms do look at these kinda things.

Side Note.(Yes my Grammar is very bad and i would want to say sorry english is my bad subject also please consider my age when you read this)

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

The 5 most important things on a server application are:

Proper grammar and spelling: If they are not going to take out the time to type out "you" and put in "u" instead they will do this in-game and break role play with other forms of text talk.

If they understand our lore: Putting names of towns, undead names, leaders names and other such things knowing how to role-play them instead of making it up yourself. This is the most important part of the application because Role play drives our server

If they know what Meta gaming and power gaming is: If the server applicant can describe what Meta gaming is then they would not break role play and use out side knowledge in-game to better themselves, or making there character amazing at everything, making the server a more fun environment for all.

If they have read and understood the rules of the server and if they agree to them: I feel that this is the most important part of the application because lets try to decrease that weekly ban report quota of almost 5 or 6 bans a week at times. If the player has a strong understanding of the rules he or she is less likely to break them.

Originality: If an application is original then the person must have taken the time to think about who there character is and what they can do. A person would be a lot less likely to ruin his or her role play when they've spent time on weaving together there characters morals, personality and story to have a fun experience.

Side note: I've been playing on this server a long time and it has provided me with a lot of fun experiences and something to do with my free time. I think I should give back to the server by helping the application team accept, help and deny applicants to the server.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1.) Completion and Working Skin Link: This shows if a player is thorough and careful. I think should be one of the first things your look for in an app. If a player doesn't even take the time to fill in all the questions or make sure a link works, what makes you think they will actually put time and effort into rping?

2a.) Quality: At the end of the day, if it doesn't make sense, then there's no way your getting accepted. Your character can't have lived his/her live in the wilds but know how to read unless you have a good reason. I will have (Some what) no problem if you want to rp a magic welding, assassin, hunter, builder. But you have some pretty good back story and be damn good at rping it ingame. One sentence wont persuade anyone, especially me.

2.b Quantity:If a player answers most of the question with one word answers, that's another red flag. A player needs to go into some depth about their personality and their character's personality in order to get accepted in my opinion. We need players to give us a good idea of them if you are to make an educated decision.

3.) Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation: One of the question on the apps is 'do you have a good grasp on the English language'. The only real way to test this is by reading the rest of their app. If it's riddled with spelling mistakes or grammar errors either; they didn't take the time to proofread or they sink at English. Both do not bout well if you want a player that will be thorough, as well as deep with his/her rp. The key to engaging rp is using detailed and varying sentences. Nothing takes you out of the rp experience faster then a one word answer, a sentence covered in spelling errors or a indecipherable messages that lacks any punctuation. If we want our server's rp to be engaging and exciting then we can only accept players that show they at least have the capacity to accomplish these things.

4.) Research: A good LotC play makes sure his/her RP is rich, deep and engaging. One can not get this affect with out thoroughly understanding and grasping a characters role or behavior,or even how they do their job. A player can't RP a dwarf blacksmith well, if they do not know the first thing about smithing. Same with any other occupation. In addition the player should also be already familiar with the world their character lives in. If you haven't even taken a second to glance at the wiki or anything about the lore your app will be in poor shape.

5.) Do they even know what roleplay is?: To many people I see on the server seem to think that as long as you talk like your from lord of the rings and don't use OOC too much, your roleplaying. The true is that is not the case. True roleplaying comes when every action you do is not because it's what you want to do but because it's what your character would do. Users have to create a character with likes, dislikes, goals, strengths and weaknesses. Basically create an entire person. The user then has to take the form of that person act as he/she would. A user shouldn't join a guild just because all his/her OOC friends are in it. Your character must have a motive to join. This goes for basically everything.
