What do you think are the top five things that are most important in an application and why?

1. Grammar:

In order to have good RP you must be able to know proper english. I am not a grammar freak but when looking at an application missing punctuation and multiple misspelled words show me that they either don't know how to write, or they didn't care enough to proofread their work.

2. Presentation:

When looking at applications now I notice that the ones who put more effort into making their application look good are also ones who put more time and care in with their answers, character bio and input on the server. Usually ones that have no new paragraphs and have every section jumbled together also have an application with very short answers and a very poorly written character bio.

3. Character bios:

This is probably going to be my favorite part of the application process, I always enjoy reading other people's characters, just a little short story to read and every single one of them is about a raw character, no preset mage, warrior etc. This is the character these people want to be and would probably be in any other RP game. These always seem to be the make or breaking point with an application. While browsing current applications It always seems the most often reason for denial is needed expansion of the character bio.

4. The sample RP questions:

These will show the type of RP experience the player will contribute to the server, I feel this may be one of the other make or break points in an application

5. Definition of Meta and Powergaming:

I think the most used OOC phrase is, meta, this will ensure players are aware of their characters limits and provide better RP for the server as a whole.

Creativity

I love looking at applications with things that I never see. If I saw an application with someone whose parents were both cannibals, and tortured their son/daughter every day by eating them, I would be quite impressed. A bit more exciting then their parents getting eaten by Orks, eh?

Biogrophy

Now, I believe the biography defines their RolePlaying skills. If it is obvious that they have spent a lot of time making their biogrophy, and it was well structured, that would improve their chances of getting accepted. These always seem to be the parts that make or break an application, so I always look to find good ones.

Grammar

I honestly think Grammar defines if a person is good at writing. If they write in what is commonly called '1337 sp33k' Then I will decline them. No questions. If they typed 'I thnk tht i wld be a grat addition 2 the community' then I would decline them. No questions. In order to show great RP, you must first show that you are good with English.

Understanding Role-Play

If people merely say that Role-Playing is taking on the role of another person, then that would barely pass. I would think that a answer such as 'Role-Playing is the term given to the act of pretending to be another character, whether it be a Blacksmith, Warrior, or anything of those sorts' then I would be quite impressed. If their whole application was RP'd, and it was good, then that would boost the likeliness of me accepting dramatically.

What is your least favourite rule

Now, I believe this can be the downfall of a great application. If someone wrote that their favourite rule was 'You must stay In-Character at all times' then I would believe that they liked to Role-Play, and that they are somewhat good at it. On the other hand, if someone wrote 'My least favourite rule is no griefing' Then I would decline them. It just shows that they wish to destroy other peoples work of art, and they have no respect for the people that made it.

-Side Note-

Thank you all, for taking the time to read this application. I hope that I will get accepted, but, if not, know that I will continue trying. I thank you so much for reading this, and hopefully one day, I can be making the GM's lives easier by accepting applications!

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1:good definition of role playing: I would first look for a good definition of what role playing is because this is a role playing server so all applicants must know the definition of role playing.

2: a good bio: I would then look if the definition of role play is good for a good bio that fits in with the lore and wasn't bunched up and well thought out.

3:grammar and spelling: I would then look for good spelling and grammar because if not they would just ruin the role playing experience for everyone else.

4: A good definition of meta and power gaming: As this happens a lot in the server power gaming and meta gaming i would look for a good description of both of them so they know that they cannot do that in server.

5:server rules; this one is last because everyone can say they read the rules but it still important to check that they read the rules and know them because it also ruins role playing if they do not know the server rules.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

First the Biography: a well written bio is the main part of the application and there for the thing you should work the hardest on. A good bio tells a good story about the character, why the character acts as he/she does in the given situation, faults no buddy is perfect, what he/she is good at and the characters personality. In other words it it should describe your answer to the questions at the bottom of your application (Character Personality, Your ambitions, Can your character read or write?, Can your character mine?, Are you a capable builder?, Can you wield a sword?, Enjoy Farming? And Does your character have any special skills?)

second What do you know about role-playing?: the second most important part if you ask me a new person on the sever should know that role-play isn't about getting the biggest loot it's about interacting with other players and know how to do it

third Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules? What about the lore?: it's very important that you know the rules otherwise you can't play it's like any other game if you don't know the rules you can't play simple as that

and the lore is almost as important if you don't know the lore you won’t know what people are talking about when you rp it's like common knowledge but there are so much lore both player and gm written that it's almost impossible to read it all

fourth A screenshot of your skin: I think it's very important to have a good looking skin (if I get accepted then it's probably the thing I'm gonna reject most people for) I hate bad skins I think it can be just as rp killing as bad role-play no if you wanna play on the best rp sever out there you have to get a good looking skin.

being mature: we don't want (no offense) 10 year old kids who have nothing else in their mind then pvp and killing just to get loot and griefers so through your application you have to show that you aren’t just some stupid kid trying to ruin others day and rp

and I just have one more that's just as important no metagaming and no powergameing we is so rp destroying powergameing can be allowed but only if both sides agree on it

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Bio.

If this is bad, the whole thing is bad. No point in letting them in if they can't write minimal lore. Or, a Mary Sue. *shivers* If your not mature enough for this, your gone. And, plagiarism. Stealing someone's app makes two IDENTICAL characters. Not only it is illegal, but it'd get you banned. And, it won't hurt to split from the giant "My parents were killed by orcs" junk.

2. Grammar.

This is the second most prominent sign of maturity. Typing "hey n00bs, give me ur minas nao, or i kill u," says "HEY! I'M SO IMMATURE!" so loud it's not funny. 'Nuff said.

3.

What is your character good at?

The site of all Mary Sue-dom. Giving themselves "Like a boss," on everything. This makes a boring place with nothing but warriors who do everything. Thank Vaq for the skill system to prevent this though.

4. What is Roleplaying?

Really. If they don't know what Roleplaying is, why be here? Why go to a roleplay-only server? If they say, "Roleplay is being someone else," they'd get denied in my eyes. Why you ask? That is what a 5-year-old can think up. Prime definition, "Roleplaying is the taking on of one other being, in which you interact with others in a dynamic world". There can be better, but that would be enough.

5. Skin.

First of all, this tells if they know enough to change a skin. Secondly, the skin tells alot of a person at first sight. And, this tells if they understand the races. If they are a green dwarf, there's a MAJOR problem.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

The Biography:

Yes, The Biography. Like all other people applying for the app team, I said biography. But, that is because it is the most important part in an application. The biography is the first time that the server gets to see your true potential.

The first thing it shows the server is your capability as a writer. You need to be a good writer if you ever expect to roleplay. Because to roleplay you need to express your characters emotions and feeling. You need to tell how your character is acting. And, to do that you need to be a good writer. So, writing has a big role in roleplaying. That is why your biography needs to show your capability as a writer. If you are a good writer than you should succeed at roleplaying.

The biography also tells who your character is. You should not be a crazy, insane man who robs and steals when you first join. The server does not need new people coming on to the server being able to do anything they please. They need to act who their character acts.

The last thing the biography does is tell of your characters background. If your character's parents were killed by undead, then your character will probably hate undead. This will affect your characters decisions. He/she will probably try and kill all undead and then you will be able to expand your roleplay further.

The Skin:

The skin is an important part in one's application because it shows the reader if the applicant read the guidelines for the skins. If the person has an appropriate skin for their character. They should not have a skin of a creeper outfit. That does not fit with the roleplay and would get denied.

What is Roleplaying?/Metagaming and Powergaming

You need to know this because if you do not know what roleplaying is and you cannot describe it thoroughly then you should not be applying for a ROLEPLAY server. They should also have a bit of experience roleplaying since it does take some time to get used to roleplaying. They should at least have a basic knowledge on roleplaying.

I believe that people on this server ask the question "What is metagaming/powergaming?" in OOC chat way too much. The GMs should not have to answer this to every person that joins the server. I like how it is now required that one knows what it is. Because if they do not then they will find themselves in some tough situations because they just got modreqed for powergaming. This will also clear up any confusion and keep the GM's from having to answer another question.

Matureness

Whether that is a word or not, I do not know, but I do know that this can easily be seen through an application. This server wants MATURE people. They do not want people who are going to break the rules and then blame something else for there own mistakes. We want people who can roleplay and do it easily without having to say immature comments while doing it. Many people of all ages can be immature, but most of the time (not all) it is younger children. Mostly due to the fact that they are still young. But, it does not matter what age they are it matters what their application tells us about them. It is easy to tell someones level of matureness just by simple reading their app.

The Grammar:

Grammar is important in roleplaying so it needs to be tested in the persons application. In order to stay in character one needs to spell correctly and have correct grammar. Now hopefully, everyone on this server is human and we all make mistakes. We are not perfect so the occasional misspelled/mistyped word are allowed. But, if the person starts of their application with "Herroz mey naems Arien" then we have a problem. The persons application should be formal and abbreviations should be at a minimum to none. The server wants to see you took time in your application.

This is just a little extra.

Why I want to join:

Okay, so I would really like to be apart of the application team. I spent a lot of time on this and I tryed really hard of this because I would like to start helping people that are like how I once was. I feel that I would make a great addition to the awesome team and I do hope I can be apart of it. I have tryed to help applicants to the server PMing them telling them if the link to the skin was broken, or if they need more work, or if it was good. I have helped many applicants to the server.

If I do not get accepted to the application team then may I reapply?

Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed!

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1.Biograhy:

For me this is the most important part of the aplication. The bioraphy lets us see what this person knows of rp.If he knows how to write a good story that will interest the readers so he will be a good rper. The biography will also let us know how dedicated he is to the server. For exaple if the person makes a fairly big bio it will be more likely that he will dedicate more time to the server and to the rp.Because he puts alot of effort in his bio so he expanded his character and someone that will only stay for like 2 weeks and doesnt care about the server wont put lots of effort in it.

2.Not making up their own lore and folowing the lore:

This is very important to me If people dont folow the lore it will show us that he doesnt know what the server is all about. The person will just make up what he wants to make his char cooler and more powerfull powergaming to the extreme. For exaple a guy might make:My character is son of the greatrst wizzard ever but after a fight which he won with no wounds on him he discovered he is the heir to the thorne of Aegis. But this will only show us that he doesnt know how to rp and wont be accepted.

3.if read and understodd the rules:

This is important to know because the server has rules like everything else.We cant have people sceaming ooc stuff, griefing buildings and randomly killing people.Asking the persons favorite and least favorite rule is a way to make sure he read them and understodd them

4.Grammar and his skill in english:

I have to admit i dont have the best grammar nor the skill in english a English or a American might have. But i think people can understand what i type and my gramar. But this is important because if you cant understand what the person is tiping he wont be able to properly rp.

5 The persons experience with rp:

This will let us check if the person knows how to rp and what rp is.Will also be good to see what they can rp as and how they can rp

Comments:Ive been on the server since release and i want to help the server that provided me with such fun and enjoyment. If you deny me i would like to know why because i realy want to be a part of this.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1:Understanding of Roleplaying:

Above all things the grasping of Roleplay is by far the most important thing to look for in an application. What does this cover? Well, a variety of things. But most importantly, how to roleplay and an understanding of LotC lore. Otherwise you have somebody who doesn't both - A) Contribute to the server's RP, and B) not really have fun on the server anyway.

2:Response to the Situation Questions:

While the consensus is that the biography is showing potential for rp, I rather think that the questions at the end of the application posing specific situations to respond to force the person to respond with an rper's perspective and is more on the spot as is most rp. These questions as they are answered give us a better insight into the character than the Bio, because personally, I am of the opinion if we start our characters from the ground up our Bio is yet to come! ;)

3:A Grasp of one's Character's Goals, Ambitions and Characteristics:

So many times I see characters made and it is impossible to tell what they are motivated by. There is nothing compelling about a character that is flat, or then again, a character that is too developed! I look at how they feel their character stands as a person. This is important to me.

4:Grasp of English Language:

Although I love foreign people and I love even more cooperating and coordinating with them, this is an English speaking server and the rp is conducted in English. If one cannot be understood, they have no business here, sadly.

5:An understanding of Meta/Powergaming:

Finally, I think that if one is to roleplay on our server they need to have a strict understanding of what these two things are. A lack of understanding of what metagaming is will undoubtedly cause trouble later on. An applicant must know what metagaming and powergaming is before they are allowed on our server.
