Rebellion Against The Mori

*You see what appears to be a Wood Elf shouting in the middle of Elandriel, and a note with its transcription pinned in the board.*

Hear me, brothers! You have surely heard the story of the battle in Mori lands, if you were not there yourselves. The Mori were in danger because they had angered the dwarves. We, the ones most suffering from their awkward and awful customs, came to their call as tame lambs. We run to them as if it was to help us. We can't have helped them in thanks, so we must have helped them in interest, or thinking they are close family.

The only thing we have in common is the look. Yes, they certainly look like dark elves. But that is all. If they were our brothers, would they kill our kin? Would they slave our families? Would they limit our needs and reject us from their dark caves, not to talk about Mori not recieving us in any manner when we first arrived here? They certainly wouldn't. They would accept us, adapt to us as we have adapted to them and embrace us in their society. Nether, even the remains of the ruins in the damn High Elven city have embraced them more than Mori have even humbled themselves enough to look at us! We are suffering the greatest disdain, and what do we do? Run to their will the first time they need help. Allow them to control us, just because they were here before. I read in this same city that they weren't even from Asulon originally. Well, you see, I don't like this "I was here first, it's mine"-attitude they have. Why do we have to comply to their rules?

And then, one would think: "Well, we surely got something out of the battle." Well, guess what. We didn't.

We have a treaty. With the signing, we lost a threat, yes. Now they won't attack us. Really? You think, after murdering so many Elves, they will sit and wait, and not attack us? They are not to be trusted. They know the lands better than we do, and they surely control the underground of the continent. Why would they ally with us, wasn't it for having us as backup? They have no care for other elves, nor will they have it in the future.

And what price did we pay for not having to worry about them? We have gained new threats. Dwarves are more powerful alone than all Mori. Twice. Left alone allies, of which we don't know about. We are more powerful, as demonstrated in said battle, yes. They are not near here, I agree with that. But we gained another threat, a much nearer one, nearer than even Mori, or actually the inability to deal with this threat: Spiders. A simple spider can be killed easily by a medium-skilled fighter or archer. But now, thanks to his awesome treaty we've got with Mori, we can't kill them. We can't attack them. The will appear forever, since we have to keep part of the forest dark for Mori to hunt. We will have a city full of spiders, and we won't be able to do anything with them. Let me tell you, it'll end bad. VERY bad.

We need to show them what we are capable of. We need to make them see WE are the dominating ones here, not them. I will wait for you at the porch in Elandriel at Sabet, 7th of the Second Seed ((9pm GMT)). Come to me, and we will show them.

I don't feel this is necessary at this time. We have larger fish to fry, my friend. The threat of the Mori has decreased. That being said, in due time, kind Elf.

This meeting is not sanctioned by the council and will dealt with as criminals. The Sorani and Vanguard remnant will arrest any that try to attack the Mori within our lands.

I risked my damned life to make sure this treaty was upheld and I was assured by friends and council members alike that it would have been appreciated. Apparently it is not.

The only ones that cannot be trusted here it seems are wood elves.

Emerging from the shadows of the forest floor, Prince Ashur approaches the Wood Elf with a dark expression on his face. He stands in front of the man, addressing him with a quiet but forceful tone so he is not overheard by any others nearby.

"I'll ask you to consider the following points before you make this worse than it needs to be.

One ... if we chose to go against the Mori, there would be war with them. Because of how close they are to us and because of their size, they would crush us. We did what was best for Malinor.

Two ... those dwarves did not represent the entire nation. They were of the Blackaxe clan and sought revenge for the death of a comrade. Because we ensured no survivors, the official dwarven stance has not changed about us.

And three - if you continue with this attack, the already-vulnerable relationship with the Mori will be shattered. If you try to continue, you and any others supporting you will be stopped before you even reach the mouth of the cave ... and let's not forget the repercussions if the dwarves hear of us aiding them.

I'd suggest cancelling your little siege."

(( Also, we took precautions to ensure very few people knew about our aiding the Mori. Who did you hear this from IG? If you haven't heard this from someone in Elandriel, this information is powergaming. ))

I was at the battle. We HAVE gained more of the Mori's trust. And remember... We came to their lands. That is why they were hostile towards us. A rebellion would put us in more trouble than before. The council and myself will not stand for this.

(I'd also like to see the bio, history, and all that of this so called wood elf. Using a NPC to stir up something such as this is wrong and very close to powergaming in itself as a forum NPC can't be silenced or dealt with IG.

This is in addition to what Ashur stated. This entire post is very sketchy.)

Shuness watches the elf from a tree above.

"Foolish elf. Why must you stir the hornet's nest?"

I do not mean we must attack the Mori. What I ask for is support against an official alliance with the Mori, which will lead us to no good.

Dwarves are our allies, not the Mori. If we are both threatened then of course we should aid each other, but one should not run to the call of another like a trained dog. Also, let it be shown that the elves are the least warlike of any race. We pick our battles wisely, for when we do fight, let all of Asulon fear the wrath of Malinor!

Hey, I'm a wood elf. You don't see me encouraging all-out war!

We had heard word of the dwarves coming to attack the Mori. The same word suggested that they would have attacked Elandriel as well, to exterminate any Mori there, and destroying our homes in the process.

This is why the treaty was in place. To provide a Mutual defense for both Menorcress and Malinor. Further.. to invade the Mori would take our full cooperation, that of which we were neither willing or ready to provide, as their warriors would need to use our land to even reach the Mori.

Because we made the treaty, we decided in the end to honor it. The dwarves had no valid reason to make war in our lands and have suffered for their brash decision.

OOC:

(Just was saying there was a survivor of the battle. Was fun, fair battle on both sides. Hope for a rematch in the future.)

Bungo, sitting on the stump of a tree begins to overhear the conversation between the elves. After a while, he gets up and walks towards them.

"If we 'ave a treaty, why do those damn Mori not follow it? I 'ave sheen ... errr ... a bunch'o elves, dwarves, and even 'alflin's attacked by them and taken 'nto those caves."

*A bird drops a hastily scribbled note down by the elves. You cannot discern who the handwriting belongs to*

Ye' stinkin' elves! If ye' needed 'elp bashin' de Mori, den ask fer it! Don't sign some foolish treaty just to buy time and make yerself luuk pathetic! N' de nerve to defend the Mori! De battle was between us and de Mori. Dey killed one o' our most highest nobles, n' ye spit on our traditions by fightin' wittem!

We're lucky 'un our comrades survived de battle to warn us of dis treachery. While we dun know exactly w'o fought fer de spiderspeakin' scum, we went in and saw regular elves clad-in-armor, fightin' against us, 'uns w'o even claimed to help us in de' battle!

What hogwash...

(Just a clarification, there was only one elven melee fighter, and they fought clad head to toe in Mori provided armor (we didn't have any weapons or armor so they were provided heh). So unless the survivor can identify the two unarmored elven 'archers' they will only be able to make an accusation on hearsay.

Not calling this letter invalid, the writer and the survivor could just be ignorant to the fact.

As to the OOC accounts above, we've worked out ad clarified things with those involved, there's no meta going on :) )
