Sorry where? I don't remember either of these things being directly endorsed. You're trying to read a 2,000+ year old book with the mindset of a 21st century male. Read it with the mindset of someone from 1000 BC and it will make a lot more sense.

Since when did the old testament become invalid?

I respect you and your ability to defend your religion. +1 to you.

I never said that, I said you're trying to interpret it as a 21st century person. Take Abraham being commanded to sacrafice Issac (his only son). Seems pretty ghastly, but back then it was very commonplace for human sacrifice (especially child sacrifice) to be undertaken - especially in Canaan.

And of course the acceptance of slavery and suppression of women was a mistranslation too.

Dude, what we were talking about is different. The stuff that made it seem that the world was flat was just one or two words in one or two lines. Read the thing I linked you earlier.

And BTW, the site that had the article I linked you has stuff about the old testament and sexism and stuff if you want to read it.

Not for Jews. Most Jews sacrificed lambs.

I think Abraham was a bit shocked though, and even then, wasn't he told that he didn't have to at the last second anyway?

A few things I do wonder about God though, is how come in the Old Testament, he burned a bush to tell a murderer that he must save their people and lets him split a river or something in two to cross, turned some river into blood, brought plagues on people and stuff and now he does nothing like that? And if the Egyptians were killing all the Hebrew baby boys and Moses only survived because he got put on a river and had tons of good luck, how come his brother survived too?

EDIT: And why did God tell Abraham to kill his son and then tell him not to at the last second? I heard it was like a test, to see if he'd do whatever God said, but how come God couldn't just tell? He's God...

He killed the Egyptians but not before giving them a warning. The Hebrews were His chosen people and they were put into slavery.  And if the Egyptians were killing all the Hebrew baby boys and Moses only survived because he got put on a river and had tons of good luck, (Guarded by God, not lucky) how come his brother survived too? His brother was a kid, not a baby. By baby boy, its newborns.

EDIT: And why did God tell Abraham to kill his son and then tell him not to at the last second? I heard it was like a test, to see if he'd do whatever God said, but how come God couldn't just tell? He's God... Of course God knew, but He wanted to make sure Abraham knew too. If you believe you don't live up to standards, you lose hope in the project.

Was his brother guarded by God too then, or how wasn't he killed? And why doesn't God turn lakes into blood and stuff anymore?

Sorry, didn't make that part red. His brother was already a kid, not a newborn, which is why he wasn't killed.

God needed to have the plagues come and go river-splitting and such because he needed to show the Egyptians how powerful he was and that they should let his people go. And he is waiting until the Rapture to continue these large miracles. And Moses' brother survived because only boys under around two years old were killed, and Moses' brother was older than that. Or he was born after the slaying.

Yes, Abraham's test of faith was sacrificing his son. God, I think, know what will happen after we decide to do something, but the choice to do something is up to us. Abraham could've chosen not to almost sacrifice his son, but then God wouldn't have blessed his lineage. When he chose to go up the mountain and sacrifice his son, God understood that Abraham was a loyal servant and stopped him.

What's the title of that t.v. show? Sounds dramatic. I mean, I just got into Game of Thrones, and if there is as much incest in that show as in GoT... Well I'm not going to not watch it.

It is very simple;

Is there evidence for God; No

Is there evidence for Evolution/Big Bang/Multiverse Theory; Yes.

That's as easy as it is.
