Repairing the damage won't be a problem. In fact the idea of cutting off a few halls was in the process of happening, but unfortunately it was during the time of us actually spreading apart.

I mean this happened before but it wasn't as big of a deal the first time. We all lived in Kal'Urguan than eventually people got bored because their wasn't much RP due to the fact the Mines couldn't be regened and the war with Orcs have ended. Their started popping up many colonies which one became a nation Alras. Other colony was a floating island but Undead blew it up, and another was that one colony which was overrunned by the Undead. This already happened before, and we all eventually went right back to Kal'Urguan in the end.

You guys need to recentralize yourselves. You guys are too few and spread too far out. Kal'Anart is nice.

Well, since I'm going to start a dwarf char soon ( When the skin is done ) I'd say rebuild Karik. It was a very nice place, and I'd love to see it come back to life. Besides that, I am EU and I believe that I'll have a hard time finding RP when you're so spread out.

I care little for 'chances'. All I want to see is the city re-occupied. Yes, it is also quite huge, but we can limit it. We don't need all those districts.

Exactly, just repopulate the main hall and the DIRECTLY surrounding areas and seal everything else off and as more dwarfs arrive, reopen and renovate those areas.

Yeah the only districts that are needed for this is a Noble District Which is home to the Council ( which when its time for new members of council they must evict their homes.). We can have small clan halls within the Noble District, and I don't think clan members should live in a clan hall since the majority of Dwarves are clans. We all live in a housing district. The next following should be Market/Entertainment for Rp ( this is where other races would go to.) The next of course Mining/Forge and the last a Religious/Scholar district.

(Very rough idea.)

( edited just now.)

We would only use the entertainment and housing areas.

Just a tunnel with a teleport would work.

I'm going to pull quotes from people because my opinion has already been summed up by others:

I say build another capital city. Third time's the charm!

REALLY GUYS?! You can't honestly be serious. There was a reason we abandoned the city in the first place. It was too big. RP was spread out and it flat out didn't suit our purpose. The city itself was absolutely beautiful. I had the same impression as when I first walked into Kal'Urguan: "O my god, this is perfect. This is why I made a Dwarf character." But the city itself failed. And we as a race have not changed.

Also I know for a fact many dwarfs hated the idea of abandoning the city

I never wanted to leave. I hated that the decision to leave seemed not to be a consensus of the Dwarves. But we left. It's over. Karik is a ruin. Leave it that way. Fix it up perhaps and leave it as a monument, but by no means should we inhabit it again. The last 3 (?) weeks I spent in Karik there was no sign of life because other Dwarven cities sprang up all over the place and everyone decided they wanted to leave. Between Dwain, Holm, and rest of Asulon we as a race could not hold it together. We didn't have the population to keep it up.

You guys had your shot at a beautiful city and you ruined it

I hate this comment. It's hurtful on a number of levels, but I refuse to disagree with it.

Everything Tyrion said

We have barely tried out this system. Let each clan own its own hold. Let us come together when we need it. When the other races (or evil) come knocking on our gates, burst through our doors, and ransack out golden halls. In that hour, when we need to band together to save ourselves we will go back to living in one central location. Right now it makes no rp sense. We've proven we can't live together under one king under one roof so many times before, when will we learn that it's not possible under our current circumstances.

I never had a say in abandoning karik as I left due to political reasons buy, I miss the great city.

I wasn't going to touch on this... but... : You weren't the only one who never had a say. However you were part of the reason that Karik was abandoned. Losing a large mass of Ironguts didn't help the population in Karik. How do we stop clans from doing this again and plunging the new Karik into a barren wasteland... Point is at the moment it's not possible, and if you force Dwarves to live there they will hate you for it. (You used in a general sense. Not pointing a finger at any One person).

In my opinion the seperate hold idea is making the RP very thin.

Omi, I respect you immensely, but I just don't see it. I had some of the best RP I've had on this server today. And it happened with 5 Dwarves. Dwarves who all live with-in a 200 block radius of each other. Yes the Dwarves are split up. It helps keep tensions down. The RP is there (At least in my time zone, but a centralized location might yield the same problem), and the RP is fantastic...

I'm going to go back to diggin' now...

Really I don't want us to all go back. We've moved, restructured, moved again, restructured again so many times that it's getting confusing and I'm personally sick of it. Everyone voted and separate holds won, now we are wanting to change it again. Really, we should just leave it the way we have, in my opinion at least.

Actually I believe it is the 5th time... Sadly...

You guys had your shot at a beautiful city and you ruined it, so I vote no for the sole purpose that you do not deserve to live there. I am by no means mad about the whole situation, but as I mentioned before, you had your chance.

I don't see why you have to attack our player-base like that, there's no need for it. We couldn't sustain ourselves in that city because of our low numbers and shaky political leadership. I personally didn't want to leave the first time, but when the ball gets rolling, its difficult to stop.

I have to agree with Goldrim on this one. The dwarves just keep hopping from city to city and it is getting them nowhere. The best idea yet is the one you are doing right now, the multiple holds. The multiple holds keep the dwarven enemies apart while keeping a council-ish system that the dwarves have always had. Just mah two cents~

I agree as well that we should not move. It's not just our location that has changed, we have changed our main governmental structure many times, enough is enough. We should take things more slowly rather than rushing to go change the next thing or move to the next area. Kal'Anart isn't even two months old, let the RP develop, let the holds flourish. We just got the first deeproad in today, so this should help the flow of RP to the less RP inhabited holds.

The Hold system works, but say we do go back to one huge city, rather then housing districts, we could separate the city into clan districts, which would be handed out to established clans with over three members then force all the clanless dwarfs into either joining a clan (which establishes friends, retains interest in dwarfen RP and centralizes our RP) or risk being homeless.

By the way, I am a fan of both the hold and mega-city routes, but I really don't like Anart and Alras - they're too above ground for my tastes.

That's the thing with Kal'Anart, we try to differentiate ourselves as Mountain Dwarves through different RP, architecture, and culture. Moving back to one city would likely ruin what we have going. In my opinion the Hold system may not be perfect but it is the best we have. Changing yet again could just set us back. Remember that building does not necessarily create substantial amounts of RP.

In my opinion, we need a group to work on organising more events within the nation, outside of battles such as arena fights, feasts and weddings for example.

I've just started my dwarf character, and I could stir up some events for you guys. I'm on the event team after all. Just hail me with your ideas, and I'll see what I can do.
