dandan1350 479 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Dralex stirs in his bed, for a few seconds heat overwhelms him as he throws the covers off before a sudden chill sweeps up his back he quickly grasps for the covers again, pulling them over him. Repeating this several times as the hallucinations of his father still continue to appear. The same words echo through his mind. "Failure. Disgrace. Worthless trash." As the words dig into his head, becoming louder and louder he begins to thrash about in the bed. Sweat now pouring from his brow as a face of pain appears on him. Dralex quickly coughs violently before he's slammed to the bed by the ever-watching Guardian, Emmanuel. Emmanuel then proceeds to wipe the sweat from his face with a cool cloth. Dralex thrashes against his holds, too weak to provide much resistance as he's pinned down. Saying nothing as he does this actions, his eyes seemingly closed as he experiences hallucinations and nightmares of his father, the words now engraving them self into his mind. They repeat, again and again. Emmanuel then sighs as he lifts his hands from holding Dralex and stands, saying not even a goodbye he stands his body into a stiff position of attention before giving a strong salute. Dropping the salute he walks out. Dralex lets out a sigh of relief as the fever takes its final effect, his arms weak and legs holding any strength he fiddles with his hidden blade, undoing it he lies it on the table, then taking off his belt and scabbard with it he throws that next to the table. His family heirlooms now gone from his side he feels a sense of relief as if a large weight is lifted. Patting the trench coat by his side one last time he slips his legs off the bed before hesitantly standing with weak legs, pushing to stay up. He slowly slips a pre-written letter from his pocket as he lays it next to his weapons. ((If you pick it up I'll tell you what it reads.)) "One. Last look." He says to himself in a rough and low whisper. Dralex slowly hobbles outside as he moves to the castle wall, climbing onto the defences he looks over the land with a tired and weary look, nodding as he takes in the beautiful landscape of Ildon and its out lying lands. If any where to stumble upon him they would have only a mere few minutes to talk to his as his legs buckle beneath him, his body leans over the edge to the shallow and some what iced over river below. Looking behind him to Adorellan sat at his bed-side thoughts flash past of the good and bad times they had, their fights and moments where each other had saved one another. Dralex sighs, a feel of sorrow overwhelms him as a tear runs down his eye. "I'll miss you... Brother." He looks onto the vast landscape of the Elendil land again. Wiping the tear from his eye he smiles. A genuine sense of relief that he has not felt since the days before his brother's death. Edit: ((Smashing work Han, actually amazing seeing all that you do.)) The Hedge Knight 173 Share Posted December 15, 2012 Gavin patrols the outside of Ildon, mounted on his thoroughbred horse. Behind him are three guards, each with a loaded crossbow and an arming blade. He looks around in his great helm, his right hand on the pommel of his short sword. He listens carefully to the woods then slowly approaches the gate, no hostiles sighted along the way. "Gates!" Gavin shouts then patiently waits for the guards in the gatehouse to open the gates. He slowly enters the town and hitches his horse, then begins his daily rounds. (Basically how Gavin looks in his daily life. Elendil colors though.) Snake Plissken 637 Author Share Posted December 19, 2012 Thorenir awoke suddenly, confused and shocked. He looked about but his vision was blurred. He was cold, wet, and seemingly flying. Then he realised he was not flying, but drifting in a great expanse of water. As his eyes began to focus, Thorenir began to see others around him, drifting through the water as he was. Thorenir began to struggle, he was running out of air and didn't know where to go. He saw the direction that the others in the water were floating, and figured up was his best chance. He began to frantically swim upwards, ever searching for a way out of the water. Finally, he saw something in the distance. It looked like a great sheet of stone, spread out to act as a roof for the water. As he neared the surface, Thorenir came to see a circular exit through the stone. He swam towards it with all his might, his fingers were inches from the surface. But for some reason, he could swim no further. He was frozen in place. Thorenir struggled, he couldn't give up, he couldn't die here, where ever 'here' was. He looked up at the pool and propelled himself with all he had, but still Thorenir didn't move. Looking up through the pool, something came into view on the other side, a man. He stared at the man, recognising that he wore a coat similar, if not identical, to his own. He saw a great bushy moustache upon the man's face, and then it hit him; he was looking at his father. Thorenir stared up at Halboron, trying to swim up to him with his last bit of air, but Halboron simply stared back, smiling at his son. He shook his head at Thorenir, then turned and walked out of view of the pool. Thorenir tried to yell out to him, but his cries were muffled by the water entering his lungs. He began to lose it, his head felt like it was going to explode. He began to drift back down away from the pool, floating helplessly, and losing consciousness. He tried to let out one final scream at his father, but still nothing happened, and his world went dark.
Snake Plissken 637 Author Share Posted December 20, 2012 It was the warmest day since Thorenir had been frozen in the cave. The snow over the lake had melted away and holes in the ice were beginning to form. In the cave under the surface, Thorenir's icy cocoon was turning into a layer of mushy sleet. Thorenir's heart began to beat once more and his body began to function. His blood began to flow, his temperature rose, he began to think, and then slowly his eyelids parted. He slowly brought himself up onto his knees, shivering uncontrollably. His memories began to come back to him, and he remembered being stuck under the lake. After several minutes of trying to wipe away the sleet stuck to him, Thorenir could stand waiting no longer. He sucked up his courage and dove into the pool of water. He swam with all his might through the cave opening and then up into the lake. The water was freezing, he felt like he was going to vommit, but still he kept swimming. Nearing the surface, Thorenir could make out several openings in the ice and went for the one closest to both the edge of the lake and himself. Reaching the surface, Thorenir hoisted himself up onto the ice and crawled hastily over to the edge of the lake. Reaching solid ground, Thorenir let go on lay on his back, panting heavily. Not wanting to drift off again and die from the cold, Thorenir brought himself to his feet after several minutes, the snow was cold between his bare toes. He looked up at the sun to figure out which way was back to Ildon, shielding his eyes from its glare. After estlishing which way was east, Thorenir began to hastily trudge through the melting snow, not wanting to spend another moment out in the wilds. * * * * * Upon arriving in Ildon, Thorenir was greeted only with an abandoned town and several notices claiming that the world was ending and that all must head to the sanctuary to seek refuge. He hobbled into the castle and began shouting for members of his family, but was only greeted by silence. Slowly, he made his way down to his office in the Adunian archives where he put on a set of dry clothes. Not to his surprise, Torrhen Elendil had not bothered gathering up the books and relics in the archives before abandoning the town. Thorenir brought a cart to the door leading down to the archives and spent several hours hoisting all the books and relics from its depths that he could. After finishing ,Thorenir headed back down into the archives to see if there was anything he'd missed. He headed into his office and took one final look around. He saw something gleaming on the chair at his desk and went to see what it was. Upon pulling out the chair he discovered the Circlet of Horen sitting upon his chair. He smiled upon seeing the old crown, then picked it up and took it out to his cart. Once he reached the cart he placed the circlet into a chest near the top and tied his horse up to it, before beginning his long journey to the Wilven Sanctuary. * * * * * Thorenir trotted into the sanctuary on the back of his horse, his cart dragging along behind him. He looked about the abandoned sanctuary, confused as to why no one was here either. As he neared the centre he continued to look for signs of life, but still none could be found. After some thought, Thorenir decided that if the people were abandoning Asulon, the docks would be where they would go. He yanked the reigns on his horse and began on his way to the sanctuary docks. He trotted slowly across the bridge, up the stairs, and through the tunnel, out onto the great docks. Thorenir sighed loudly seeing that no one was here either. Not wanting to give up yet, he brought his horse to trot along the shore, looking for any sign of life that could give him hope. As he neared the end of the dock, a small boat came into view at the end of it. Exited to have found a possible way out, Thorenir dismounted his steed and sprinted down the peer to the boat. As he neared the small ship, he read the words 'Tha Bloated Boar' painted across the stern of the boat. He began to call out exitedly, "Hello?! Anyone in there?!". Slowly, the head of a muscular dwarf appeared over the edge of the ship, staring down at him with drowsy, hung over eyes. "Tha feck ye wunt..?" muttered back the dwarf. "Do you know where everyone is?", replied Thorenir, "Ive crossed half of Asulon and havnt spotted a single soul other than you". The dwarf groaned loudly as it looked down at him, "T'ey've all 'eaded off ta tha new land, cross tha sea". Thorenir looked up at the dwarf and throught for a moment longer, "Is this your ship?". "Aye", the dwarf replied. "Could you take me to this new land?". The dwarf sighed, "Well, 'a wus goin' ta set off un uv t'ese days suun... Spose wha nay make 'et taday...". Thorenir's face lit up with hope, "Ill just get my cart out to the docks, then begin loading my things on". The dwarf nodded sleepily, muttered a few hushed words, then went off to prepare the ship. Cracker 4570 Share Posted January 6, 2013 OOC: Just had two questions about Adunians. Why exactly do Adunians get an extra 50-80 years while other half-elves do not with this new rule change? Do Adunians have any drawbacks, or are they just humans who get to live 50 or so years longer, that look quite similar to a traditional human? Do they face infertility? I just feel infertility is a very easy cure to trade for looking and fighting similarly to a human while having added years.

I just feel infertility is a very easy cure to trade for looking and fighting similarly to a human while having added years. ((Well Adunians do have some drawbacks. The added years was something I created in my noob days and that stuck. The infertility explains why there are so few Adunians as it is. The Adunians were given the extra years after the curses were cast because they were the original half-breeds. I'm not saying there were a few others, but this was the major half-breed race. They received both curses in unison, shorter life than elves and infertility. They however were given longer life than average humans and greater height, like the elves. Their culture is somewhat primitive and that is a drawback. So, they're the half elves that were given both curses and gifts, as they were the first half elves at the time of the hexing. I hope this answers your questions C:))

Hanrahan 2983 Share Posted January 16, 2013 In the 4th century way up in the Highlands, The Horens lion roared at ‘Dunia with a henious plan, The Orenians pushed up from the South with murderous dragoons, an` what they did to ‘Dunia will be not forgotten soon, The fighting fields ‘o Noble, Prince Torrhen was the man, Of illusionary grandeur with no head for command, Ishikawa with cannon fired on ‘Dunians with sword in hand, Brave men fought & died in kilts defending ancient clans! They were ‘Dunian, and now they're gone They were ‘Dunian, and they live on! The Highlanders were cut to shreds, hung & lost their heads, To put some to rot in prisons and left 'em all for dead, No mercy for the Highland people screaming through the years, Some were chained & shipped as slaves far off to new frontiers People come & people go but Dunians never die, They live on in sons & daughters Adunian heart. ‘Dunian pride, Now there's ‘Dunians all around the world, And what better world their be, remember the ones who made our ‘Dunian history!
