Update:: The new Money Management System

Recommended Posts

Greetings LotC players and community!!

I'm happy to announce that we've tested and decided to implement a new Money Management system for our economy! It supports player Vaults where you store your physical minas (emeralds) and can still use /commands to pay players money directly from your vault, or you can carrying the money on you physically and toss it to them, and the plugin scans your vaults and inventory to give you a combined total when you type /money.

Using the plugin is as simple as it gets::

-To make a Vault: place a chest, then put a sign above it with [vault] in the top line. -magic noise- done!~ PLEASE NOTE:: Vaults are not protected by default, you must still LWC it for it to be secure, and this also allows for multiple people being able to pool together resources in a single vault, though only one person will have /command access to the money.

-You can CURRENTLY (this will change in 3.0) have ANY NUMBER of Vaults. We will split it later in 3.0 so that any player can have one Vault chest, ANY donor can have two vault chests, and Gold+ Donors (subject to change, this is just from the current discussion) will have access to more.

-To see your total money between your Vaults and Inventory: type /money

-To pay someone: Either throw physical money from your inventory, or type /money pay <amount> <player> to send the money from your vault to theirs (or their inventory if they have no vault)

A Temporary Revision for VA thieves involving vaults::

-You may pick the locks on Vault chests as you would any other chest, with all standard lockpicking rules and limits in place.

-If successful, you may only take up to 1,000 minas from the chest, as coinage is heavy and unwieldy. This being said, if there are multiple thieves working together, EACH ONE can take up to 1,000 from a successfully picked chest. This is across all possible vault chests you successfully pick, if you successfully lockpick 3 Vault chests, you can still only take 1000 minas in total.

A few things to note::

-The plugin only recognizes Emeralds as currency, not Emerald Blocks.

-The server still has no chest-shop plugin, so for the time being, this is how you can exchange for minas::

-Make a modreq, GM's will exchange Gold Ingots at a 50:1 ratio (50 emeralds for 1 ingot) and diamonds at a 150:1 ratio (150 emeralds for 1 diamond). We WILL NOT exchange emeralds BACK INTO Ingots or Diamonds, once traded, they are gone for good.

-Any Emeralds you may have from the previous physical-money plugin will be valid for the new plugin, so those of you that invested and converted your fortunes to physical minas, you were smart investors. Everyone else, sorry, everything will be rebalanced when 3.0 comes out. Minas notes (maps) are wiped and are not being refunded in any capacity.

-ZOMBIES, no other mobs, just Zombies, have a chance on death to drop 0-2 emeralds. We decided this as RPly zombies used to be people, so they might have some money still in their tattered pockets, but we don't want mob farming to be a primary source of minas like it was before.

-Here is a link to the actual plugin, for those of you who want the fine details and to see the coming-soon features. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/gringotts/

We hope you enjoy this running test of the new Money Management plugin, go out and make your fortunes!

Two things

1) Wveryone should be give 5k Mina's for the economy.

2). Because you can use the physical or the command no one will carry around actual money.

So unless I'm confused TWO emeralds are worth alot? so a single emerald would logically be worth like half a stack of bread?

*an earthquake opens a chasm in the earth, by coincidence JUST under all your storage places for the now-missing money, closing at the exact moment all the now-missing money hits the molten core of the planet and melts, destroying it*

There, mother nature hates you!~

This is a temporary exchange rate just due to the fact there are a LOT of these resources around. There is no perfect solution at the moment, and with 3.0 looming on the horizon, we're focussing our efforts on balancing it for 3.0, and making due in Asulon.

Thank you for clearly explaining how this furthers the story-line of LOTC. Good work, keep it up!
