Honestly this just will detract from rp.... Having an area where people can no rp kill without it making sense for their character? Kinda gets rid of the whole point of a VA application in the first place. Honestly I feel this will not help roleplay, but rather lessen it. I mean why should someone roleplay when they can go to the center of the map and go around killing people at random? There are other methods of obtaining what you are trying to achieve. And in this case, this will create an area people want to avoid. But not for the reasons you are stating. Merely because it will be an area where there will be no rp. In a roleplaying server... And merely pure pvp mess that will cause ooc rage/hate.

Make it a designated island for nation skirmishes. Not no rp but a place where armies can decide a victors of situations. That way the capitals don't have a chance of being griefed. Roleplay should still happen though. Just make it the badlands from Aegis.

Well.... I do think we could Try it, but make lore behind it! Maybe something to the opposite of the cloud temple blessing? Then it would work for me!

Since it's just a little temp map, I'm all for it! :)

 

Maybe if the community likes this danger zone in the center and it goes smoothly, it can be something in 3.0, but if it fails, then it obviously won't be. Why not give it a chance? It's not like temp-map items matter anyway, they'll get deleted when we go to 3.0

Eh, complete No-RP kills seems kind of bad. Maybe make it so that it is the opposite of the Cloud Temple blessing, like Arzota said, and allow people without VAs to murder there but still have to do a little RP?

Remember, this is kinda'a temp map, and therefore a perfect place to hold an experiment! If it does not work, KILL IT WITH FIRE within the first few days, heck hours. If it does... well that will be another topic.

The "Opposite of CT" where every can fight -with RP- sounds great.

I don't think this will detract from RP actually. You say "why should someone roleplay when they can go to the center of the map and go around killing people at random?", but the truth is, why are those same people on this roleplaying server when they could be on a PvP server? That's the cool part (in my opinion) about this idea, because not only does it create an IC reason for people to not go there, but it causes an OOC hatred for the location from the roleplayers because they detest PvP.

 

The rest of the map is RP, but for those who hate PvP so much they can simply choose to not go to the center, almost as if there isn't a middle island at all. Therefore, it doesn't detract from RP, but rather it allows it to continue as if nothing is happening.

Hm, and this is why we ask the community for their opinions! I like this "opposite of CT blessing" thing, and allowing people without VAs to fight. As you say, there will be lore as I mentioned in the OP. This is certainly a good alternative and something that we will consider. Thanks for the reply. :)

 Or your character looks at it as a dangerous island filled with brigands and bandits, a lawless island.
