February Newsletter!

Howdy folks! Danny here with this month’s LOTC newsletter. In this edition, we’ll be discussing what went on in January, what’s coming in February and the future of the Lord of the Craft. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Most Noted Player this month (we’ll do a large one next month!). This newsletter is also a wee bit smaller than usual, but still contains all the appropriate content. So, let’s get started.

Donations Update - 3/2/13
We’ve gone and overhauled donations once more, adding a pile of new perks! All VIPs are now able to create a sign that can change the map in their hand to that on the sign, and also to change the painting type that they place. To do the latter, you simply right click your painting once placed, scroll with the mouse wheel until you get the correct one, and right click again! To create the map changer, you simply create a sign with [Map] on the second line, and the map ID on the third.

Iron VIPs (and above), are now able to create small gates, doors, normal gates and bridges. To find out about these, please refer to the CraftBook wiki. Gold VIPs (and above) are now able to create Cooking Pots, Lifts, Hidden Switches,‘PayStations’ and are able to make use of ‘vehicle’ mechanics. Diamond VIPs have been granted access to numerous CraftBook mechanics:- 0235, 1235, 1277, 1276, 1275, 1273, 1270, 1227, 0239, 1239 and also safes (again, refer to the CraftBook wiki for information on these).

We will be making areas on the main website that describe each perk in detail in future - until then, please ensure you are aware of what the perks do by reading the CraftBook wiki.

Anthos (The Lord of the Craft 3.0) officially announced...
We’re extremely pleased to announce that the Lord of the Craft 3.0 will be named ‘Anthos’ - continuing our tradition of beginning Realm names with the first letter of the English alphabet. With Anthos we’ve taken the brilliance of Aegis, and the beauty of Asulon and combined them to create what we consider to be the perfect Realm for the Lord of the Craft.

In addition to announcing it’s name, we sent out an email newsletter to all of our members that gave them a bit more insight into the new Realm - we’ve uploaded it for anyone who didn’t see it here.

In that newsletter, we also revealed a brand new website that we’ve set up for you to follow Anthos’ final stages of development - the Anthos mini-site. If you missed that, then be sure that you go and check it out!

Website Upgrade
As you will (hopefully) have noticed, we’ve totally overhauled the forums! They were updated to the latest version of IP.Board (the software we run for the forums) and reskinned to a more ‘clean and slick’ look.

This isn’t all that we’re doing with the website - we’re overhauling the main website as well! That means, we’re implementing a new skin and changing the site to make it more user-friendly and useful - as let’s be honest - just now, it’s neither. That’s going to be quite a large change, which will take us quite some time to complete - so, please be patient when we get to doing that.

The wiki will also be updated again - we’re returning to the old style wiki, and we’ll be transferring all articles across and editing them to provide the maximum amount of information. This is to allow us to have a clean and easy-to-use wiki, instead of our current (rather ugly) one.

There’s also a few things that I personally want us to do as well - so, whilst these aren’t fully confirmed, I just thought I’d mention the following. The return of the ‘skin library’ that allows players to upload and view
skins that can be freely used by other members. Also, I aim to have us implement a staff development blog on a secondary sub-domain where we keep you up to date on upcoming updates, minor updates and other things
such as this - this allows us to do the previously mentioned things without cluttering the website and forums with an article every day.

Elysium and Kalos (2.5 / 2.5.2)
As you will have noted (if you’ve been online) we’re currently running on temporary maps until Anthos is ready. Both of these maps were hand-made and designed for roleplay, meaning that we aren’t running on simple Minecraft-generated maps. You can read about Kalos here.

Server Update - 9/1/13
The server received an update regarding mob-drops back on the 9th of January. Now, only zombies drop minas and they have only a 75% chance of doing so. Other mobs will now only drop items! Read the full update here.

The Technical Team
Unfortunately, Alec left the Technical Team in early January, leaving Reag and Tythus with the duties that come with that title. We’re currently seeking another coder to take on the huge workload of developing plugins - if you know anyone, then be sure to let us know via email.
