Hello LotC, I'm going to be addressing a big issue that came up in the past 24 hours that must be addressed, and some of you are not going to like I'm sure!

 

As many of you know, the mining multiverse was brought up prematurely by a member of the staff that thought it was ready when it was not, and it became quickly exploited for dungeons and diamonds, some people coming out with stacks of diamonds, and even some with enchantment books from dungeons and diamond gear from mines and strongholds, which of course created a massive imbalance in the economy, only 24 hours in to 3.0!

 

The mining multiverse was promptly shut down by Danny when he woke up and discovered this, and since then we've been discussing what is to be done about this, and it's taken a good bit of discussion, but the decision has been unanimous among every staff member that's given input, and the majority have agreed already, and we believe that the remaining staff will also agree.  In any event, a vote was taken, and the majority vote is already in favor of this decision, so I am bringing this post to the community as a kindness to inform you.

 

Even as this post is being written, we are removing all diamonds and diamond gear from all inventories and chests/other storage devices.  No compensation will be given for them, those of you who mined like crazy in the mining multiverse still have an imbalance of Iron, Coal, and other goods that you shouldn't have had access to, but we're leaving those alone and accepting them as your compensation for a mistake we, the staff, made.  We do this in order to re-balance an economy where diamonds were supposed to remain RARE, and introduced very VERY slowly.  On day 2 we have people in full diamond plate due to this mistake, and that will simply not do.

 

We, the LotC staff, appologize for the error that was made and for any anger this may cause in our decision on how to deal with cleaning up the mess.  We accept that mistakes were made, and we ask that the community remember we are just human like you, we are flesh and blood, and we make mistakes from time to time, and we will always seek to come together as one and fix these mistakes.  We take this action for the betterment of the server and the RP experience and economy of this brand new world.  Items are fickle, and should not be the primary focus of this wonderful RP server, and we hope you agree with us on this point.

I can't help but feel disappointed. Why has there already been abuse of materials? Folks, get your act together and do some roleplay instead. This isn't a grind to get the most diamonds, and what do they even add to our roleplay? Nothing.

Honestly I think the entire server should be re-set.. half the world is in full iron right now but whatever.. Players should have known they were abusing the mines rights.. Thanks :)
