A Resignation

Written in flowing, gray script, a letter has been placed on the message board in Malinor. It reads:

"I, Ebs Telrunya, do hereby resign my position as Treasurer of the Holy Princedom of Malinor effective immediately. This is due to the actions of the High and Lower Councils, which I feel have been unduly hostile towards me and other members. I believe, that as it stands, the current governing Council is taking Malinor in the wrong direction, which will end in despair and disappointment for all citizens of Malinor, and I can no longer be one of the bodies pushing the cart in that direction. I find that the encouragement of policy of dependence upon the government of Malinor for employment to be both unacceptable and against every fiber of my being, and I refuse to take part any longer. Radical changes have been made during my brief absence, many of which I do not support. An individual was appointed to temporarily fill my position in my brief absence, and I was not consulted at all on who should be chosen, despite that I was available for such conversation. This individual changed the entire function of my former position, without ever contacting me, and when I returned, I discovered that not only had my position been basically removed, reformed into a role I both detest and that is tailored for said individual to fill, but that many reforms, including new laws and Sentinel reforms, which I had labored to move through the High and Lower Councils, were passed during my absence, ensuring that I could have no part in any of them. With the departure of Former Prince Khel, I truly believe that the current system of governing Malinor is fundamentally flawed, and must be reformed into a more democratic system. I will no longer be the voice of opposition in the Lower Council, and I will no longer serve the people in Malinor in any capacity for an indefinite amount of time. I will instead be working on my studies, which have been neglected due to most of my time being spent slaving for the High Council.

May the trees shade your path,

~Ebs Telrunya,

Former Fourth Prince of Malinor, Former Treasurer of Malinor, Former Okarir'Acaln of Haelun'or, Former Viscount of Fionn"

*Vanir scans the message, his jaw slipping as he considers the consequences of it.*

"Malinor is failing... one bit at a time... and at the worst possible time... Soon there will be no one left to govern!"

*Vanir walks off, deeply troubled and already planning when he can return to Malinor to see what happens and the response.*

Stares at the message, muttering, "Slowly all of the sane officials leave us, knowing what is to come if this is to continue. I hope this doesn't last forever, and soon things will turn for the better..." Nods out of respect for Ebs, and walks away.

Elindor is gravely displeased. Upon reading the resignation he begins walking back to the vineyard. He stops halfway across the bridge, staring back at Malinor's beautiful forest. He speaks to no one, yet at the same time to everyone, to himself, and to the forest.

"Malin's sons have changed. Attempting to ignore the human characteristics weeding their way into this culture has proven futile. The only thing remaining is for Malin's blessing to end and for the elves to receive their greatest wish. Mortality. I weep for you, trees. Your only hope is that the druids can protect you, lest you too be hewn down in greed."

Elindor fastens his satchel tighter. He begins the 20 steps to the vineyard but does not stop at 21. Today he keeps walking.

Chrestienne on her rare stroll through Malinor looks to the note with confusion, sighing she shakes her head and mutters something to herself with a large, displeased expression.

"He was one of the best things Malinor had going for them, too bad he had to go. Seems things aren't looking very grand for the elves these days."

After finishing she takes one final look at the note before heading back onto the paths.

Enyahs comes by and tears done all of the notices. Speaking as walks away.

"I have no more time for those disrespect my family, the treasury, or the nation for it's decisions. Those who insight riots will not be taken lightly any longer, next person to do such will have their rent heightened by double!"

He spits on the ground and returns to his office in a huff.

The poster is ripped down again. Sentinels are ordered to patrol the area more heavily now.

Elene frowns as she passes, watching the note being torn down, and sentinels put to watch. She thinks, for a moment, back to the laws-

"And I thought we were able to  'Publicly criticize whatever we so desire without fear of retaliation.' How strange..."

((This was to herself, and the post has been up for a while, no reason why she couldn't have read it before :P))

Orym raises an eyebrow as he hears Elene as he's walking off.

"How did you know what the poster said... ?"

{{Voided then..))

Azel walks around, many posters in hand but he does not put them up. He laughs weakly as he nears the front gate.

"Get your resignation papers here!"
