The Elven Menace

A peasant man in tattered workman’s clothes stands afront the fountain in Salvus, preaching to the people as they gather around or simply pass by. As you approach, you begin to hear his words flowing from dirt-covered face hidden behind his matted hair. He is obviously trying his hardest to keep the peasant accent out of his voice...

"People ov Oren, hear me now! The oppression ov tha elven menace is upon us, and we shall all be crushed beneath et’s destructive reach if actions are nay taken nuw! These vile creatures come into our lands, our home, and wreak havoc for us to deal with! Should we be forced to live like this? Nay, I say, we should not! They steal our food, our goods, our valuables, attack and murder our people, threaten our leaders, vandalise our cities and disgrace our god! Should we really be forced to face this whilst they retreat each day to scowl in darkness from their black Malinor trees? The elves have gone too far, and these are just scouting parties! Soon their dark, treacherous armies of heretics shall descend upon us, and if we do not prepare all shall be lost! Our armies have tried once to rid us ov these vile beasts, but suffered a minor loss at their hands! Little did we know that their dark, heretic powers had grown so great! But this gives us all the more reason to make sure they are quenched beneath the mighty fist ov Oren! They lie now weakened by our forces, it is not the time to fall back and agree to the elves’ false terms ov peace, but rather tha time to continue our campaign against them! I beg you all to go forth and preach my words to those across Oren! Bring awareness to our brave leaders; the most divine Emperor Godfrey, tha grand Order ov the White Rose, the steadfast protectors ov tha Teutonic Order, tha noble and just knights ov tha Chapter of the Lion, and of course tha cunning men ov the Emperor’s Privy Council! All these leaders have done good for us over time, served their citizens well and protected us from tha evil that lurks outside our borders! It is time now that they are warned ov the threats tha elves create, and know to act bravely in order to save us from their menace! Go now and do this! For the Emperor and for the Empire!”

Upon finishing his speech the man reaches down to the pavement infront of him and picks up a pile of parchment. He proceeds to go around handing out posters to the people in the crowd...

A random peasant in the crowd jumps out in front, smearing cow dung onto his face like war paint, the Peasant holds up his pitchfork and kills a random elf next to him. "UPROOOOAAAAR!" The Peasant shouts as he jumps around wildly, eventually charging off towards Malinor with his pitchforked raised above head, he would surely meet his demise to the Elven swine.

A hooded figure stands in the back of the crowd. As the pesant begins yelling about elves he twitches lightly and a faint, almost unnoticeable light shimmers in the back of his hood. His very ears seemingly curving from points. He simply observes before quietly strolling off.

*Listening from nearby, Blundermore grumbles from under his hat... before finally a thought dawns on him...*

"Why is it that they only percute the Elves who live in the trees of Malinor, out of sight, and out of mind... When there are Elves much closer to home who do of what they speak... who own their farms... who take what they wish, who sit in office and sit in arms. Lords over man such Elves are, and they live right under the very nose of these people. Surely it is much more apparent that they should deal with these Elves, for they are the ones who do that which they speak. Their "Threat", is much closer to home than they would ever realise. And... ironically, it is the fault of their own Empire, that has caused such to occur.

If there are any Elves that deserve such Branding, it's those traitors who left Elven kind to rule over men."

*Getting up and fixing his pointed white hat apon his head, he makes his way through the crowd, mentioning these facts to passers by as he goes, hoping to speak to the crier in the center, this lowly revolutionary in the attempt to make him and they see this fact as well...*

((You can't have your cake and eat it, if you want to claim Elves being evil and wanting to claim dominion over man then this is a fact you're going to need to take into account that many Elves hold high up positions in the armed forces and the political system of Oren. What you have effectively done is unleash a double edge sword if this is to be rp'ed even slightly correctly. The backlash against Oren's nobility and poltical side will be as severe as it will be to the Elves themselves. Basically if you want to do this realistically, you're going to have to go after these Elves as well, Elves who are known as Elves in Oren. It only makes sense that this would be the case, and to not do so would be powergaming or at least extremely biased towards Oren.  These Elves in Oren do EXACTLY what you're preaching about IC'ly, they effectively HAVE taken over Oren in some parts by being in these political positions. Would be cool to see a massed lynch mob go after members of the Oren court because of this fact due to your painting of "all Elves" as evil creatures that must be destroyed.

Edit:

You can claim that you are uninformed and stupid IC, but what you must remember is that this is also a double edged sword that works both ways, not just for the purposes of aiding you alone. Sometimes blind faith and loopholes can lead to getting the opposite of what people in power wanted. People becoming too over zealous, and taking that blind faith just a little too far even if it goes against the wishes of their leaders. Again, this is another double edged sword that Oren plays with a lot without suffering the consequences of such actions.

Actions have consequences, you cannot preform an action and then cherry pick the outcomes from it. There are both negatives and positives that come with it.

I speak of these because of the fact that at the moment many Elves reside in Oren, and live as Humans, which is not fair really, as this just ruins the point of being a Human. Why should we even have Humans when we can just have differently opinionative Elves running around instead? Because that is what is happening in some cases and that shouldn't be the case. There is literally no downsides to really being an Elf that follows Oren past having to cut your ears, past that, you're just a Human who lives a lot longer than normal Humans.

If you were to RP this correctly, you could help to actually bring the Elves somewhat back together again, Elves at the moment have little reason to live in Malinor, this could help to give them some reason again, to help put the Elven community back together.

Many would say to me that the Elven community is dead, I say, it is, so long as people continue to think that instead of act. This could be the first step to bring actual population back into the Elves.

You may say, that it wouldn't be fair for those who play Elves in Oren, well, to this I say this, RP is RP, they chose IC'ly to live in a hostile land of Humans, thus if this backfires on them, it is an IC consequence that they will have to deal with. That is what happens sometimes, sometimes things backfired, again, can't have cake and eat it.

It would even help Oren, many people complain about the lack of culture in Oren and the lack of "Human like" role play, this would also aid to making Oren more Human centric again, instead of being this xenophobic nation that is also apparently multi-racial and multi-cutural at the same time which, I'm sorry to say everyone, DOESN'T WORK. It doesn't make sense that it could, I've studied Human geography on this subject, in fact, I wouldn't need to study Human geography, you would just need common sense. Two polar opposites just cannot work together. Again, you can't have your cake, and EAT IT.

This makes perfect IC sense that if such a claim was to be made against Elves, it would affect Oren as much as it would effect the Elves and there is no way, shape, or form that this could be denied, to deny it is the pinnacle of bias and powergaming.

Edit:

I don't make this a personal attack against you Owl, you have every right to make this post, but I make this post in return in order to make people of LOTC see, that there are consequences that come from the actions of followers of blind faith. There are consequences that come from utilizing such reasons as "God wills it" or blind belief, all of these facts in the end are double edged, they can work for and against.

I'm not saying this shouldn't happen, but I'm outlying that there are benefits to be had by BOTH sides if BOTH sides agree on this agenda and enforce it PROPERLY. RP is a Co-operative thing, it isn't about winning or loosing, it's about having fun, and to be honest the prospects of having what seems to be the perfect Empire somehow start turning on parts of itself as its' own religion, ideals and values bare down on it after so long would change up RP a bit more whilst giving others a chance to actually gain RP from it.

Oren is not the Empire that will last for a thousand years, there are so many corrupted and self centered individuals in RP in it in high positions of power that it is doomed to fall at some point. To not do so would also be powergaming and hints of metagaming as we all know for a fact that Empires just don't last forever, they seriously don't. There are so many problems that come from Empires that eventually something gives way and things change. Oren is extremely, extremely flawed Rply. It just doesn't have the ideals that will make it last.    ))

Jonathan Black, Knight Commander of the Lion Chapter, looks at the speaker with nothing short of flat annoyance as the peasant comes to give him a poster.

"Are you trying to start a pointless war? No. I won't have -you- dishonoring the treaty His Imperial Holiness made. Get out of my sight and out of this whole city before I arrest you. Take your cause to the White Rose, because my Chapter and the Teutonic Order aren't interested, I assure you."

*Selena Hyacinth stands at the side of the square, she frowns deeply at the peasant. Her hands go to her currently rounded ears for a moment. She turns around with a rustle of her green dress, heading off to her family in Lin'Evaral.*

Sariant knight Berendan Thorne shrugs as he listens to the man. Knowing fully well that it is the Emperor who gives the final call, not some

would be instigator.

Khel burst out into laughter hearing this wondrous speech. Khel turns to his brother and hands him one of the posters

"Almost a perfect portrait of me wouldn't you say so?"

Khel chuckles once again to whichever one of khel's friends decides to respond to this

"Funny bit about this, half of Oren are malinorian immigrants. Hell, most of their nobility has elven blood coursing through their veins. Quiet Ironic I'd say, he'll be be beheaded quiet soon I am sure for breaking the emperor's peace for at least a fourth of their nation

Edward hears the peasant's yelling and shrugs to himself.

"There is no religious fervor in this movement, I disapprove."\

((@Blunder, I think we all the humans want to purge Oren of the all powerful elves. Though they are still a minority in Oren.))

Verden stumbles out of the local bakery carrying several boxes of freshly baked cake and overhears the ranting. He strains to look over his tall stack of pastries before shouting back at the man,

"Stop stealing my air!"

Kaila looks over the Parchment sadly. Her eyes look up at the dirt covered man. "Elves have saved my life many times." she says softly to herself. "I pray for you sir." Her small hands takes one of the posters and she slowly wanders off to the keep.

Rufus grins a toothless grin. Wait, that's not right. He has three, silly me. Rufus grins a three-toothed, yellowed grin, his blackened gums exposed in utter glee. He raises his skinny, blistered arm into the air, hand clenched into a fist. He cries out.

"Yea'! Dea'f ta' tha' Elfies! They're stealin' our jorbs!"

He finishes speaking, lowering his arm, smiling quite contently.

Shas'O Kais Ishikawa stands in Yamamoto over a defeated foe who came into his lands attacking him for being an Elf in race, he looks down not following his usual routine of sheathing his Katana and wiping it clean in one move, instead he takes a piece of white cloth from his defeated foe wiping the blood off the well folded steel of his Katana before saying out loud directing his voice and gesturing to the body

"You fool....you bloody fool."

he then moves to sheath is now cleaned Katana into its black sheath before walking off back to his keep, his men begin to pick up the body to begin to give it the last rites

As Meta listens to the cries of the peasants who dared tried to incite another war he only sighed to himself as he continued to look down at the book that contained various forms of strange letters and shapes. His thoughts lingered for a moment on the insanity of such a phrase as he smiles politely to himself, turning the page once and foremost. "Many problems plague oren, yet as they ever seem to do humanity is content to find blame not within themselves, but of themselves. For as long as they are burdened by the perception of low value, they themselves have a value of no perception..." he ends his statement firmly to himself as he takes the book, turns it right...

Then Left...

Then right again...

Finally he simply held it upside down before he growled to himself,

"WHY IS THIS MATH THING HAVE COMMON WITHIN IT! I thought it was numbers! JUST NUMBERS!" He slams the book on the floor as he folds his arms, growling about the strange wording within the book, unhappy and uncontent he was struggling so much
