Racial Benefits

Alright, so the word is getting out that Orcs/Dwarves have gotten a damage increase in PvP to increase the idea that....Orcs are built for war. Fine by me. However, this is not the case. A human can be built for war, maybe not as...grand as a legendary Orc but the concept of "Built for war" has become the argument point of this entire controversy. I've come to the realization, after PvPing an ORC WHO WAS IN CHAINMAIL, that any Orc with HALF A BRAIN can beat virtually ANYONE in PvP. I'd easily say I am a superb PvPer on this server, square with some of the top ones on here. This whole idea of buffing people based on what race they chose is nonsense. It's pure power-gaming. It's come to the point that you stand an extremely small chance in fights with any Orc or Dwarf, for that matter., even if say, in RP, they are a GODDAMN BABY. It makes absolutely NO LOGICAL SENSE TO BUFF ANYONE IN PVP. EVER.

PvP was something people resorted to so that they avoided Powergaming, but now, PvP in itself is power-gaming.

This is true. What I fail to understand is that humans do more damage with a bow than elves and elves do more damage with a sword than humans. What is even going on? I understand Orcs are supposed to be strong and powerful but sneaking this in without a topic makes it look like it was implemented for the War, to well beat Oren.

P.S Dwarves also have the same damage as Orcs.

Definitely, I was in the war-zone area, and a warband of Orcs and some dwarves seemingly appeared. I've resorted to avoiding any fighting with Orcs/Dwarves because I've lost to one in CHAINMAIL now. It's utter nonsense.

I was an orc at the battle and I got my ass handed to me by a Blackmont.

Orc PvP buff? News to me, but it sounds like a good idea.

Remember though that orcs are collosal and come from a war culture. In terms of training, they're at least equal with pretty much anyone. They're also collosal, far heavier, taller and stronger than a human.

"that any Orc with HALF A BRAIN can beat virtually ANYONE in PvP"
Then don't take an orc on one on one.

Sounds backwards to me.

I do wonder what's going to stop someone from doing /setrace whenever they need a buff in a certain area.

As a person who plays characters of multiple races, I'd be really annoyed if we had to start paying for race changes again. But if these buffs stay, it seems like the races are going to have to be locked down so people don't powergame by race switching.

I really preferred it without the buffs. And I don't want this server to just turn into Faction Based PVP where everyone is just joining the race with the best benefits.

Which battle? This buff was implemented yesterday. There was no battle. I'm talking about the war-claim battle zones.

People resorted to PvP to avoid power-gaming, yes? How the hell do we avoid getting 5 shotted (with barely any CRITS) in full iron armor now? This war will be over before we know it, because now the dwarfs don't have to play smart, they have to play fast. An easy charge into the fray could result in Oren losing a war easily.

I assumed you referred to the Nation Crossing battle.

Such as everyone joining one race because it is the most powerful empire on the map?

The buff was added the day of the battle. I remember fighting a Dwarf doing 1 heart to me with his fists, or it was here all along and we just put two and two together.

I hear you. Maybe put the race of your killer in the death message? Then if an elf has his race set to an orc to, well, cheat (and people will), you can catch him.

I don't think people join Oren just because Oren is powerful. And that was a seriously snotty reply and not very constructive. Thank you for contributing nothing but sass to this discussion.

I joined Oren, for instance, because all my friends are here and it's a large RP hub. The other racial cities I've visited are ghost towns. Plus, I've become good friends with most of the White Rose and I'll be sticking with my buddies. If my friends decided to ditch Oren and go make orcs, I'd go make an orc with them. Why? Because I like them and I want to keep RPing with them.

And maybe, I don't know, people want to play human characters? Human is a very easy race to grasp - no alien culture to try to piece together, no language barrier, no difficult lore to understand. I see human as a very "beginner friendly" race, which is easier to understand than the orcs, who use a very hard to read accent, or the elves, who have a very strange and alien culture sometimes.

Wow, look at you, derailing the conversation!

Seriously, what is going to stop the PvP nuts from just switching to the race with the most benefits? Tell me.

Because RP fighting gets boring as sin after it goes on for a while and PvP adds a little spice to proceedings.
