Well: An Interesting Morning

Hello chaps and chappesses,

This is by far what I expected to be doing this morning - my plans for gallivanting around the town with my pals have been broken and burnt after waking up to what can only be described - excusing my French - as a shitstorm.  I'm sure we've all noted the recent flood of people who've taken it upon themselves to make themselves vocal in their leaving. You'll likely also note, I've now locked all them threads (including the ones where people were saying they were staying) - were they giving anyone any benefit? Nope. They were simply stirring bother and making this drama-storm turn into a hurricane.

Some of you seem to be of the impression we've lost hundreds upon hundreds of players. Lolnope. We've lost a small amount of players in reality. It does sadden me to see players leave, as always, and especially when it's this amount at once - however, the show must go on.

Whilst this isn't to say that the above goes for all of the people who have left, it simply does for the majority.

In future, we simply look back on things such as this as a small hindrance in our past. For now, what we must do, and what we must focus on doing is to get ourselves back on our feet and hopefully climb higher than ever.

Hopefully, this has opened some of our eyes to the fact that the glue of the community, is indeed the players themselves. What we all need to do, and what we all must remember constantly is that the aim and objective of the Lord of the Craft is not to "win", but that the objective of the Lord of the Craft as a whole is:

"to provide a platform for cooperative, and entertaining roleplay for all who seek it"

Shiftnative summed it up best a long time ago, when he wrote in a thread: "LoTC at it's core, is cooperative-roleplay". Even six months after this was posted, it stands 100% true today. Let's focus, not on the players who chose to leave, not on the staff who chose to leave - but let's focus on those of us who remain.

There's no running away from the fact that - yes - the staff has become stricter over time, and - yes - more rules have been introduced. We know. We've already said we're dealing with it, and that is what we intend on doing. However, one of the primary things that has resulted in a feeling of dissent in the community is indeed the attitude that many of us show to each other. There's entirely no doubt that OOC drama has been on the rise, and that people have taken to using IC events as OOC tinder for their flames. That needs to stop.

Make sure that IC hate stays IC. Don't make ban reports for pathetic things, and don't insult each other because of something that happened IC. Think before you do something - will this help the server? Will this actually do anything good, or will it simply kick a potentially brilliant roleplayer out?

Anyway, enough malingering, fatuous sentences and dramatic writing. Let's simply focus on improving the Lord of the Craft, and not dwell on the past. We'll have the server functioning fully as soon as we can, but until then, feel free to sit in TeamSpeak or lounge on the forums without an air of negativity, and instead being cheery, friendly and helpful to each other. Things are still very unclear within the staff itself, so please do appreciate that this is a difficult time for everyone, and that we can't have people mewing and complaining during it if we want to sort it quickly.

Please, no crying about people who have left, idiotic posts, trolls, or flaming in this thread (or anywhere) - they'll simply be removed. Let's show an air of positivity and cheeriness for once - and when the server comes back up, and all you Americanos pad back on after a good night's sleep - let us make the server better than ever.

PS: Danny, I wouldn't gallivant around anywhere in Scotland, you might get cleaved in twane by a rusted claymore.

Aside from Mogroka's leave which is unexptected and surely surprising for many of us.

I am seeing the staff handling the situation, and I trust it to be adequately dealt with.

Good to see everything is peaches. Fine work on handling this. No doubt there will be people who will say this or that could of be done and their way is obviously much better, but the fact of the matter is that it was dealt with.
