History

 

The Line of Haumel is a Wood Elven family that has not an especially remarkable ancient history. The first Haumel was known as Feamdat, who in the times of Aegis for reasons unknown adopted the surname of Haumel, replacing the one he had before. Perhaps it was to sever ties with his own family, perhaps it carried a significance for him, the answer is not known and likely shall never be. Feamdat Haumel married another Wood Elf by the name of Meylsid, and sired children over the course of a few centuries. Their sons and daughters made lives for themselves upon maturing, having children of their own. However, the falling of Aegis and the disappearance of Feamdat and Meylsid somewhat cut them all apart from each other, as the disorganization of Malinor began. The move to Anthos further disconnected them, as Malinor was often attacked by numerous powers and so it was deemed unsafe to live in.

 

During this time the eldest son of Bemnat Haumel (who was in turn the eldest son of Feamdat), Asthil Haumel, began to become involved with the Malinorian government to consult on various social and diplomatic reforms. He was the one who sought out the High Elven Sohaer Kalenz Uradir and together crafted the first treaty between Malinor and Haelun'or since Asulon: the Silver-Emerald Covenant. His masterwork was the formulation of the Mali'lumi Ethic, based on the ideas his father Bemnat had imparted onto him. With its adoption as the official set of laws for Malinor, it resounded with Asthil's disconnected kin, who inspired by its words sought him out to begin a new era for their family: the creation of a Line.

 

 

Appearance

 

The Line of Haumel are pure Wood Elves, possessing cocoa or brown skin, black or varying shades of brown eyes and hair and the slightly-shorter Elven stature attributed to their subrace.

 

 

A Haumel often wears clothing which includes varying shades of grey, green and brown, that in general are not overly elegant but humble in composition. This reflects that many Haumel are of the working class. Those of higher positions tend to wear less civilian-style and more fashionable wear - but never in excess. The leader of the Line, the Eldest, wears a small gold-colored hanging circlet on their forehead. The Eldest need not always be whoever is in fact the older amongst the family, but any member whom the previous Eldest elected to take their place.

 

Ideals

 

Their ideals are no less Wood Elven: while other Wood Elves may have abandoned them, the Haumel held close to their beliefs and considers them the highest of morals.

 

• Duty to Others. The Line of Haumel has an intense sense of patriotisim and loyalty for the Elven race. A Haumel considers the greatest of acts to be those in service to the entire Elven people, no matter how small the act may seem or how difficult the task may be. For this reason many of the Haumel are directly involved in Malinorian laborer positions, doing what they can to ensure the prosperity of others.
   
• Power of Emotion and Voice. Their passion for their ideals manifests into eloquent emotional argument, and so the orators of the Line of Haumel often voice their thoughts to the Malinorian people in public speeches and given letters. A Haumel values emotional reasoning over logical, projecting their idealism, which can at times work against them.
   
• Absent of Confrontationalism. They tend to find it difficult to form grudges against others, for a Haumel does not pay much heed to insulting words, gestures or general rude attitudes. A Haumel will only resort to violence when themselves, their Line or their race has been or will be the target of atrocious crimes, whereupon their passion crystalizes into terrible, vengeful wrath.

Familial Relation:

Younger cousin of Asthil, related on the father's/Bemnat's side.

Short Description:

Tython is the son of Bemnat's younger brother Damir and his missing wife Maela. Tython stands 6'0" tall, slightly above the average human. He's only 90 years old, rather young for an Elf. He shares the typical family appearance: Cocoa brown skin, a rather thin build that gives him a nimble appearance and the overall humble clothing. The only thing that makes him somewhat 'unique' are his grey eyes.

Just like all other family members, he puts emotions over logic and has only ever felt home when staying in a forest or at least a nature-dominated area. He can be quite overreacting sometimes and cares far too much for others, especially those close to him. By all means, he enjoys hard labor but only as long as it doesn't stop him from spending time with his relatives and friends. He can be quite naive at times when exciting things take place around him.

The only thing that makes him somewhat 'unique' are his grey eyes.

Surprised that the tradition of better recognition of families past the lust for drama, he takes up the idea of serving as a 'Godfather' in the Haumel line. He is of Subudain ethnicity. Due to his slowly weakening physical form, he has decided to abide by Subudai culture in which the elders pursue more intelligent activities. Short Description: Lyrae has not yet reached full adulthood, and her eccentric, rather naive ideals fuelled by her strong emotions have yet to be tempered by experience in the world and wisdom of age. She is loyal, almost dogmatically so, but will question actions that go against her own moral code, even if such questioning will cause her no end of trouble. She is outspoken, and although she means well, can often cause harm where she seeks to do good. She gets easily frustrated by the troubles of the world that she cannot solve herself - although she will try her damnedest to do just that. She is fascinated by magic and believes that it could be the solution to many problems the Mali face, although she treats the arts with reverence rather than as a tool to be used as the user sees fit - mainly due to her young age and naivety.

Short Description:He was born near the beginning of Anthos so he is rather young. Halser is rather cautious and cold. He doesn't get along with most people easily, and hardly trusts others. However if he is nice to those he knows and loves. Halser is a tailor by trade, but because the times demand it he can work a sword. He is no master of swordplay, or wants to be, he only knows enough to get around.

Short Description:

 

Athri is young for an elf, having not yet reached the age of 100. She is kind hearted and at times a bit of an airhead though she takes her heritage and duty to Malinor very seriously. However she can be incredibly lazy at times. Seeking to take a nice nap under a tree rather then doing her job. She is not a very serious person, and for that reason often times will not take most others serious either.
