Rp Leading Up To Pvp

The thing is that there is no roleplay, no ic motives or anything. I just get an arrow in my neck, I die, I return a few hours later and it repeats itself.

Did you send them a tell asking if they had a reason?

Did you try to give meaning to your death?

Did you just /damage 20, then returned somewhere and kept rp'ing as if nothing happened?

Pretty simple, there are assassinations. That is one way of doing assassinations. He did 5 emotes to shoot a bow, and he only needed 2 or 3. He could have come from behind and stabbed you in tha back, you would have no chance of escaping that as well. He could had run to you, took his sword, and killed you, and you probably wouldn't have much chance of escaping.

You say there was no RP, but you don't know that. If the character had reasons against the guild, and killed you because you were part of the guild, then that is IC reason. You on the other hand, could very well have used the rp that the villain gave you, the assassination, and turned it into even more rp, but it seems you didn't. You just ss'ed or /damage 20, and then continued rp'ing like before.

So, the villain did enough roleplay, had IC reason to target a member of the guild, and by assassinating, he was trying to send a messege to the guild, and create more rp, which was probably completely ignored by giving death no power and no meaning.

Yes, he just had a grudge against guards. That was his "motive".

I did not die, I got hit in the shoulder and was saved by some figure. Now Thorald is sitting in his house with an injured shoulder.

No, since I did not die.

The thing is that it doesn't make sense to have no interactions between the players and then you are attacked. In the rules it says there has to be some decent rp before pvp, but there is no rp if it's completely one-sided.

Just a question, where does PVP enter in this thread and this situation?

PVP is using MC mechanics to kill someone, not roleplaying shooting an arrow.

PVP = player versus player. Getting an arrow shot at you rp wise is also pvp.

You're confusing the definitions. PVP is using mechanics (left click with sword) to kill someone. You can kill people using solely RP - that is what you seem to have experienced. Yes, killing through RP is still 'player versus player', but not 'PVP'... the definitions are silly and make little sense.

I think if someone used 5 emotes in RP to kill you then that's fine. You shouldn't default to mechanics-based fighting unless that makes sense in RP.

Hey everyone.

I have had a few encounters with people that assaulted me by shooting a bow rp'ly that I could not see coming. The only RP leading up to it was about 4-5 emotes about putting the arrow in the bow and shooting. Is this enough rp for pvp? I asked one of the guys that shot me and he thought that it was, mainly because his character has a personal grudge against my group. My character could not interact with the rp, nor avoid it in any way since he didn't know it was coming ic'ly. That's why I am wondering if it actually is enough rp.

I shot you, I did not request PvP at ALL, I don't see the problemo

Back in my day, if a villain attacked or killed anyone we made sure to go around and get them shunned from every settlement in the realm - not being able to visit some of the biggest rp hot-spots in the game definitely makes them think twice about carelessly attacking, thieving or killing another player

That was my time too and that isn't possible now since literally half the community seems to be playing as a villain.
