  3. OOC: Just had two questions about Adunians. Why exactly do Adunians get an extra 50-80 years while other half-elves do not with this new rule change? Do Adunians have any drawbacks, or are they just humans who get to live 50 or so years longer, that look quite similar to a traditional human? Do they face infertility? I just feel infertility is a very easy cure to trade for looking and fighting similarly to a human while having added years.
  4. And a lot more dwarves need to take this into account before bashing humans for not killing off their chars for old age; I see way too many dwarves which are just orcs that can speak better english; they uphold honor to the highest degree, go around challenging people to fights, championing their strength, and rarely act greedy, putting their clan over their personal greedy desires. Kinda silly how twisted many have deviated from their curse. I designed both of my dwarf chars to put the horde of riches above any loyalties. One essentially permanently destroyed a long standing alliance between the Teutonic Order and the Dwarves for around 120 diamonds, the other made Kjell a paragon for the sole reason of receiving a third of the dwarven kingdom land. Both instances created really interesting RP (conspiracies against Kjell, huge wars and splinters between humans and dwarves) but nowadays I see a bunch of dwarves who try to prove their honor and act like orcs, which makes little sense. Most races embrace their curse; I'd like to see more greed injected into the dwarf culture instead of shunning it away.
  5. Environmental conditions like weather aren't going to affect the genetic code to the point of expanding one's life, evolution and adaption do not work like that. IRL Russians don't live any longer then those in sunny, relaxed in Spain, it's quite the opposite (though that is also reflected due to diet, lifestyle, culture, etc. )
  6. Also, to the people complaining that the humans are stuck with the worst boons/curses Curses Infertility (Elves) - Fair enough, this curse is a bit bogus since people can just RP having a kid in 1-2 weeks intervals which is about the normal rate. However, keep in mind that elves have generally been tall, lightweight, and frail. That's downright horrible for melee combat, being too light and too uneven to take a hit or stay balanced. Bloodlust and Ugliness (Orcs) - This is easily the worst curse; while the race has an excuse to kill things, it makes it so every nation despises the Orcs and the Orcs can find no allies/friends in other races. There's a reason why you never see a non-orc living in orc lands, but you see plenty of non-humans live in human lands, non-elves live in elf lands, etc. Greed and Ugliness (Dwarves) - I've never seen many dwarves truly RP this, only really the Ironguts, and them only at times. Dwarves are too focused on honor for little RP reason, when that's always been an Orc trait and they are supposed to be cold and hardy like stone, over wrathful and honorable like a desert sun. But if properly RP'd this is a big curse, you lose a lot of friends due to fickle greed Mortality (Humans) - Humans die early; at least they can make most of their lives being grand warriors and still making friends with other races due to a lack of a personality curse. And they beat out elves due to their hardy nature and ability to have vast groupings of kids. Boons Immortality (Elves) - A pretty good boon, though means little since few orcs/dwarves/humans will kill their chars off due to age Honor + Glory (Orcs) - Means little, except that they can dish out a beating Hardy and Strong (Dwarves) - Means little, except they can take a beating Ambitious (Humans) - Means little, though does mean they can socialize and are more attune in RP with other races (which is true) Pretty balanced if you ask me, if anything the elves came out with the best things but they don't end up with anything special or OP. Fairly balanced, although a bit bland.
  7. Aging your char is probably more fun then being forced to betray your allies for their gold, or being forced to kill and fight those unwilling, or being unable to rear children. Aging a char is a great way of make him change lifestyles or become wiser. Being a perfect immortal warrior doesn't lend itself to much character development, and it's good to see characters age, have their bones become weaker, lose their senses, and cope with it. Sucks for all the half-elves, though to be fair many half-elves have just been humans with longer lifespans and no differences. Also, with the one week = one ic year...that's 1 IRL year = 52 RP years. A fresh-faced 20 year old will age to an older, wise 72 year old man in the time this server has existed. That's a LOT of time to find a time to put your char to rest. It would be good to expand it a bit, perhaps 2 weeks/1 month is a year but this system isn't game-breaking or defying.
  8. Wow, lot of support :D I've been waiting for a GM or staff to actually respond to my thread. Any GMs have any opinions? I'm looking for a currency system that can make economic RP viable and I think my system helps create both OOC and IC incentives to regulate economies and have proper economy RP, instead of the powergaming iconomy and the frustrating gringotts.
  9. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/76870-currency/page__p__637693__fromsearch__1#entry637693 I made a thread about another system which is very similar to the physical currency idea, but with some tweaks to make it more interesting and perhaps realistic, along with allowing nations to have their own currencies. If not that idea, I'd just stick with iconomy.
  10. Good article, I'm glad someone went out to actually help clarify on some level, how the body when it comes to having a healthy level of fat and how it's far better then claiming to be 1% body fat (which is nigh lethal) and 200 pounds of raw muscle. There's a couple misconceptions which can come up if you misinterpret the article and while the overall article is true I would like to clear some things up. I just would like to mention however that the reason why powerlifter's acquire so much fat is it gives one more mass to leverage weight. This is great when you have to do one repetition of a 1000 pound squat. However, while that means more raw strength, that added fat tends to act as a drag on organs and arteries which the body tends to rely on for more then one repetition of an exercise. Bodybuilders go for multiple reps, which is why they try to keep their body fat low below 20%, while the high class powerlifters don't really care about how many reps they can do, just trying to do the most of one. So when planning your char out, don't just add 50 pounds because you think it'll make you win fights. Fights involve a bit of endurance and a bit of strength along with instinct and luck. And for some numbers 20% body fat (so 20% of your weight is fat) is going to give you a big ole' gut 13-18% is not going to be flat but won't be overbearingly fat (think Urara's third picture, though to be honest that guy isn't even that fat, he's just beastmode, could be at 10-12%) 8-12% is a flat stomach but most likely your abdominal muscles will only show a little unless they are incredibly strong 6-8% is where you get a well defined six pack Anything below 5% is not healthy. 1% or claiming to be 100% pure muscle is essentially lethal; you'll die of cold weather, any blows and strikes won't be insulated by protective layers of fat to absorb shock, and you'll be plagued with sickness too. The higher your body fat, the more likely your muscle is going to be explosive and give you raw strength while the lower body fat will have a tendency to give an ability to have prolonged exercise at peak condition. Fat has its pros and cons; so design your char based on how he lived, his diet, and how he fights (slow, killer punches mean high body fat %, artful dodges and weaving could ask for a lower one) Here's a video of a fat guy versus a smaller guy with around the same amount of muscle but varying amounts of fat, just to show you how sometimes a guy with lesser body fat can destroy someone with more body fat through utilizing their ability to stay in peak condition longer and tire out his foe. While in the beginning the fat guy takes advantage of his explosive power to easily pin down the smaller guy, the fat guy utilizes a lot of energy trying to pin him down, and the smaller guy takes advantage of it by using his endurance to just wail on his foe. Note how the commenters think the fat guy has is going to win, but the MMA fighter utilizes his endurance to tire out his foe, and finds the stamina to attack his opponent into releasing him. Also, what you said about bodybuilder's working out only one part of their body is quite the contrary; powerlifter's, the fat guys, are the one's who only work out one or a few parts of their bodies and lack the core, full-body strength while body builders usually work out their entire bodies, or at the least one half of their bodies having more overall versatile core strength. It's intuitive, as bodybuilders need to impress the judges with their whole body, while powerlifters just need to do one exercise, which usually only hits a few muscles, with the most amount of weight, thus they'd focus on those muscle groups over the whole body. It's also a bit offensive to say that bodybuilder's are just going for a beauty contest. Those guys put a lot more effort into their weight lifting then powerlifters, since powerlifter's don't have to give a hoot about their diet while bodybuilders have to hit the right macronutrient's in order to make gains in the right direction and bodybuilder's have to hit all muscle groups across the body while powerlifter's tend to only a few.
  11. Gorgoth, the youthful brash son of Gorgul, manages to find his way back to the Orcs after the heated battle against the Krugar Tribe or Mar Tribe for short, a rebellious faction of orcs which splintered from the Uzg, lead by War Chief Pok and Zogtar. "Bruddahz!" Gorgoth comes to view of the wounded Orcs of the Uzg Tribe, bearing an array of broken weapons and armaments, hauled by his pet Jabbernak. Next to him is the eccentric, mysterious Auguzt Dinoluk, an Orc who is more then meets the eye. "Peep wub me hab!" Gorgoth holds out signature armor and weapons which he looted from those he defeated himself "Agh more! We hab conquered dah Mar Tribe, skahurs. Me popo Gorgul wuld be proud det dah spiritz show Sharku az true Rex, agh da true Rex, Shar'ku Gorkil am proved to be dah true Rex by dah paw uf Krug himself." "Now...AGH WARGAME FER DAH LOOT!" Gorgoth blares a warhorn, causing many of the wounded Orcs to get up. Snarling at each other, Gorgoth smirks as he begins to arrange a small tourney to dole out the remaining loot. The tourney ended with the son of Shar'ku, the bearded Vrograk Gorkil in the lead, with the crazy Kapo, Gorbo the Gobo in 2nd, followed by a wounded but still strong Shar'ku Gorkil, and last Grool'Gorkil. As the Orcs ended their tourney with whoops and cheers, Motsham Blawharag and the Goj Mogroka come to the encampment. Above the petty conflict, they still reward the victors with raid loot they had stumbled upon. Grool'Gorkil accepts the loot generously, utilizing it for the Uzg Tribe's progress in insuring the Orc's regroup to restore the War Nation. The Uzg Tribe rejoices and accepted the loot graciously. As dusk struck, the Orcs fervor began to die down. They begin pitching tents and setting a camp fire, gathering together to discuss the day's events. Gorgoth speaks first, cocky and brash, proud he managed to survive despite his newness to the Uzg. "Bruddahs, we did it. Eben if me am dah unlee ash to knub get me rump kicked, we still did it agh flat dem Ugluk agh Lur. Dah Uzg Tribe wyll prevail agh reunite dah Urukz. Me unlee kame to dah Urukz, to peep me popo. But eben if me nub peep em, me kame out krushin skullz agh takin namez! We kik'd ass bruddahs. Be proudz!" Gorgoth smacks his brother, Baruk'Gorkil, on the back, emitting a loud cheer for his tribe. The other orcs chatter quietly amongst themselves, a hard battle made victorious. While the Azogs slightly keep to themselves, even they too bond with the other Orcs over the hard-fought victory. In the far off dark corner, a solitary Auguzt Dinoluk counts a pile of loot which he had hoarded away from the other orcs. (Uzg Tribe RP Thread)

  13. My mom called my doctor and said to him "What's the most accurate measurement for weighing" The doctor said..."an underwater weighing test" and just like that my mom said "when can my son and daughter take it" and the doc said 2 pm

My sister constantly talks about her hair. "Should I wash it?" "Should I pull my hair up or leave it down?" Stuff like that.

It wasn't my idea to take this underwater weighing thing. The doctor puts you in a tank (and I didn't have a shower), makes you do certain things of breathing, and you put your head underwater for a few seconds. Not hard at all.

So...why did you mother go to such great lengths to weigh you? And why underwater?

To answer you question, before my sister and I got into the tank, the doctor did a basic weight test then I got into the tank and did some breathing excerises to see how my lungs would be situated underwater. Then the doctor took the temperature of the water inside the tank. After I taken my underwater tests, I had to stick my head underwater for 8 seconds and it was done. 30 minutes its all it take.

Well, the fact that, earlier some flay was attakcing Malinor, and complained when more than one character attacked him at once.

Flay needs good players. The surge in Flay numbers has resulted in a few undesirables in their ranks.

Was never the biggest fan of Flay back in their original days. If they're still all about clicking people to death after five minutes of RP, I can only imagine the OOC rage that will come from their newly massed numbers.

  20. ( I read it; good job. We could use more day to day accounts of things and interesting lore pieces. They don't have to be super significant, but anything to flesh out Orcish customs and society would be welcome. Good job! )
