The Ravens Guard Clan Audrek “Vintern’s Vrede - The Winters Wrath” Formation of The Ravens Guard: It was the darkest hour of night when the thick snowflakes of the north began to engulf and consume all they touched, deathly cold at the slightest of contact. The snowflakes fell, forming a deathly prison unbreachable by any being. During the process of this, the bloodthirsty wolves of the north began to linger in packs and howl their claim of territory for miles in the icy plains. The howls could be heard from any distance from the snow storm that engulfed the lands. In the midst of the icy plains there was a homestead underneath a frosty mountain, the homestead belonging to the clan of Audrek. It was this fierce night when the clan invited other savage men and women to come join their homestead. This is when The Ravens Guard was formed. Many clans heard of such unity amongst the depths of the surrounding clans many made pilgrimage to the homestead to swear their word to Ragnar Audrek. Men lusting for blood and pillage. A fierce horde gathered making the homestead into a town. This town was known as The Ravens Nest. The biggest and fierce men took commanding roles within the guard itself. Many of the men fought each other for a leadership role within The Ravens Guard but ultimately Ragnar had the final say. Ragnar promised the others that the Ravens are to become the mightiest force to roam the north, then the north shall move south to make pillage of anything Ragnar decided he wanted. It was at this moment when the north made action, beginning their long journey to success. What is The Ravens Guard?: The Ravens Guard was formed by Ragnar Audrek .Upon his death his eldest son Eirik Ragnarsson Audrek took over the control of The Ravens Guard. However he also granted his four brothers the ability have supreme power over the actual force itself. It was originally created as a movement of the north to stake their claim in the southern lands. However after prolonged period of time the guard has slowly been re-established to protect and serve the members of the Audrek clan, who were brave enough to unite the clans of the north and allow all those within the Ravens Guard to have their fill of war and women. Upon reaching the southern lands, the idea was to bring the clans savage, guerrilla tactics from their icy homeland to the young southern lads and girls and teach them the ways of the Northman's savage fighting style so that the Ravens Guard can continue to be a dominating force, even in the south. Ranks: The Brodre - The five Audrek brothers have full control over the Ravens Guard and are ultimately the commanders. Their word is final. Kommandor - He is the liaison between the lower ranks and the Audreks. It is his job to give out the orders given to him by the Audreks if they are not given out directly. He speaks with the voice of an Audrek in their absence. He is the most respected of the military and his word carries great weight with the Audrek’s. Kaptein - The Kapteins are highly skilled fighters who have proven themselves worthy of being within the upper echelons of the Ravens Guard and have proven to be loyal warriors. Ridder - Honoured warriors. They have earned the honor of becoming a Ridder, and are trusted to fight on horseback should they wish it. They are given more freedom within the Guard. Huscarl - Skilled warriors. They are not the common riffraff and have been seen to have potential. They are usually given hard tasks to groom them for higher ranks. Kriger - This is the most common rank. These men and women are the bulk of the Ravens Guard. They are all able warriors and have sworn fealty to the Audreks. Leidang - This is the most basic rank. They are to be trained constantly to test their mettle. They are the basic recruits within the Ravens Guard. They have a lot to prove. Aims: First - To wage war on all enemies of the northern kin. Second - To solidify the Audrek brothers as a noble household. Third - Gaining renown as fierce warriors. Fourth - Growing in size to easier crush our foes. Fifth - Expand our territories and become feared by those who seek to wrong us. Code of Honor: - Never kill a fellow Raven. - Do not betray your oath to the Audrek’s and Ravens. - Marriage is a sacred bond. Do not break it. - Live and Die for your brothers and sisters in arms. - Fight well, die well. - Desertion is punishable by death and you shall forever be hunted by all Ravens.. - Do not steal as this is also punishable by death and will lead to expulsion from the Ravens. May the Vinterns Vrede bless you.” Specialist Weapons: Double Edged Sword: This one handed sword sword can vary significantly. It can be an ornate, steel blade with various embellishments and fancy shined leather on the hilt or a crude iron blade with a wooden hilt. Swords are a big part of the Audreks culture with each significant sword given a name and the sword is generally passed on from father to son. We will grant special swords to those who serve us well. One Handed Axe - Also a common weapon, these axes have a small shaft and are suited to close to mid range combat. They are extremely effective and it is possible for them to be thrown, should they be balanced and weighted correctly. These are easy to make so can easily be replaced after broken. The Daneaxe - A single headed battleaxe with an extra long shaft. The head is made with a “hook” so the user can tear down shieldwalls, making the weapon excellent for any warrior fueled by the rage of a berserker with a passion for smashing shields. This is also a common weapon within the Raven Guards. Request one from your superiors and you may receive one. Viking Shield - A crucial part for front line defence. Nordic warriors used shields for many things. Bashing, creating shield walls for protection from arrows and obviously for defence from other weapons. Essential for any true nord. Benefits of Joining: - Given a bed and use of all unrestricted facilities at our disposal. - Given training in your preferred weapon type (should you need it). - An amount of what we pillage (dependant on how much you aided). - Upon reaching the rank of ‘Kriger’ you shall be granted a uniform and treated as a true warrior. - Rank Dependant benefits, only earned through experience and hard work. Other Rewards: Sword of Honor: Given to the most trusted. You will be given a sword blessed by all five Audrek brothers and forged by the best smiths in the land. This is extremely rare. Pendant of the Berserker: This is awarded to those who have shown ferocity and bravery on the battlefield. Golden Raven: Given to those who have constantly proven themselves invaluable members of the Ravens. This is a rare sight. Silver Raven: Given to those who have proven themselves to be an honorable and fearless warrior time and time again. Bronze Raven: Given to those who are hinting at their future greatness through their battle prowess. White Raven: Given to the significant other of a deceased warrior. Blessed by the five brothers.
