  3. ROADSIDE TAVERN RP BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
  4. Deep in the depths of the Witch Kingdom, a single skeleton busts it down necrotic style.
  5. Deep in the Rime, shrouded by a cold miasma of undeath and blizzard alike would rest a corpse in a well-to-do chair. Surrounded on all sides with tomes and arcane writings, dead lungs would exhale long and hard. In front of the thing sat tally charts and missives - penned fresh by a hunched figure in the corner of the room - glorious calligraphy marking pages of 'inventory' set before it; purchase orders, requisitions, and authorizations sat before the corpse-mage. "A full war then? They seek to march on our keep?" A rattle of bones would be the only response from the ghoulish thing in the corner "It has been some time I suppose, though... I can't say their efforts aren't commendable. In life too, I hunted darkspawn - they were a great scourge upon our lands, fitting I suppose I'm now to see the other side." The ghoul would continue to scribble. ". . ." Further scribbling "Sometimes I feel as though our one sided conversations don't allow me to adequately convey my feelings on a situation without falling into monologue." The ghoul would stop scribbling, flesh-stripped face of the level 1 skeleton warrior turning full-on towards Nazkorhus. It's bones would rattle with a shrug, as it would return to writing. With some degree of resignation, the corpse-mage would stamp its foul mark upon each order after careful review - the bureaucratic nature of its evil hidden to most within and without the keep, through through its tireless work, the cogs of war would begin to turn.
  6. Hazy light filtered through the snow-laden windows of a ritual-chamber turned study. Trays and tables that might have held implements of destruction, now stacked high with books and parchment. Behind a large stone dais - ostensibly the room's centerpiece - one would find a reanimated corpse, dry and smelling faintly of sandalwood working away at a parchment. "Nazkorhus." The name would tumble from the rotted mouth of a servant. Draped in robes that would twist with the cool drafts carried by the windows that illuminated it's work, the thing would shamble to the dais with a report, and a copy of the same letter posted for Whitewood to see. Though the penmanship of the report left much to be desired, still the dried creature would take both missives in hand with the care of an archivist, ever-seeing eye sockets scanning the page more out of habit than any true utility. "The work of our Marshal then?" "Mggh." "And there have been no sightings of his re-emergence with the monks." The intended question filtered from the creature as a statement, for if the matter had been brought to it's attention, there was no mistaking the outcome. With a half-hearted wave of its hand, a discarding of its prior work, and the setting of a new piece of parchment down upon it's work-surface, the being would begin to write. [!] A letter was sent to the House of Whitewood.
  7. A particularly restless pile of bone has the notice draped over its skull by a now officiated Gravelord©®™. With glowing Non(yet)-CA-Accepted eyes it peruses the declaration from within the compost bin of a well adorned, holy necromantic lair. "Ave Chivay! " a disembodied voice would sound, its tone pleasing the gravelord - eternal devotion to the Empire of Man (wrong one) sealed once and for all.
  8. I’ll throw my hat in with Phil here. While I at one point might have been vehemently against introducing weaponry of this kind to the server, I came to a change of heart after looking over the emote counts compared to already existing magics and other such things as bows/crossbows. The only real change here is aesthetic – and one I think would be an overall benefit to the server. I consider us medium fantasy, having been a member of the lore team for some time, and when you consider that, and look at other settings with the inclusion of guns (I’m looking at Faerun in 5e primarily) the elves still frolic, the peasants still dig mud for a living, and the wizards still have their floating castles. This adds a new avenue to pursue in rp for craftsmiths, alternatives to learning purely offensive magics such as arcanism (I need my protection!) for weaker characters, so on and so forth. All and all, its been a long time coming, but in its current state I’m alright with what we got here.
  9. (IC) Name: Arzota Shadeleaf – Des’nox Age: Later third century Gender: Male Do you intend to learn, or do you perform, any sort of Voidal or Deific art? Which? I’m knowledgeable in transfiguration. Do you accept that in joining this order you may at times be tasked with taking the life of another mali’ker? Entirely. Do you accept that under particular circumstances you may be removed from the order? And under serious enough terms, executed? Honor my name at least with a fair trial. (OOC) MC Name: You know it. Discord: You have it.
  10. A certain elf thing contemplates 「TRUE DEATH」
  11. To add onto this – if you care to ask any questions about specific lore, magics, where we are in the world now or anything else that seems vauge, feel free to drop myself or any of the other LT a line and we’d be happy to help.
  12. I like it when they use your screen name instead of your real one. These guys are real good at doxing.
  13. Im aware, however I wanted to make sure that was clear just incase future posts came up citing this as previous experience and research. More of a precaution.
  14. (Nothing included in any of these posts is endorsed by the LT. Make of that as you will.)
  15. Question - why is, in the tiers section, Astra stored as gallons, while in the ability descriptions its quantified just as 'Astra'. How much Astra in a gallon? Does it mix well with fruit juice, or is it a chaser?
  16. "How can they expect us to glean anything from these cryptic pin-ups?" An elf would state disgruntled, "If you're going to announce some great injustice or make a threat, at least make an attempt to write in plain common."
  17. Remember that a villain isn't something that only does villainous things. Decide what kind of villain you want to play - do you want to be a common bandit with a shockingly short lifespan? Maybe a corrupt official, or even a normal member of society who has a habit of digging up bodies from the local graveyard for some reason. What it all comes down to is that by establishing your villain as an actual character, they'll survive a lot longer, offer a lot more to rp, and generally be a benefit to the server.
  18. ((Small OOC note: This might be the best way to PK a ton of people in one sitting possible since death in an immortal realm well... does that. I wish you all luck. Theres also the fact there no way for y'all to actually enter the fey realm unless your druids under groups of three so that also might be a slight kink in the plans here friends))
  19. You cant just put snow in-front of something and call it a new race. Its a culture that's been around for less than a millennia. Snow elves were a mistake, don't do this. [This is my personal opinion and not indicative of any other LT opinions on this topic]
  20. Well I just read through 7 pages of repeated vouching and arguments. Lets make it 8. Guns, something I never really thought that fit into LOTC (read till' the end, this **** is a preface). After about 6 years on here with breaks every so often, I can say with certainty that a lot of my reasoning was unfounded however, and the same holds for the arguments presented in this thread. Currently, it seems as if the arguments against this lore can be sorted into the 'we don't need this theres enough already' or 'it makes no sense lore wise' camps. Note before moving forward, very few people have expressed an issue with the actual lore written, or the substance therein - its good lore people, now I'll try to give you all an idea of this is a good idea. Where were you when the first dwarven air-born division glided into battle to Ride of the Valkyries? Personally, I was laughing my ass off watching it take place from the sidelines, however I know that the people who planned, and were victim to that attack never forgot the innovation that came around that day. This community has no shortage of innovation, which carries over to characters when appropriate. For the last 6 years we've been tech locked, while arguably progressing further in magic and alchemy than would ever be rply possible. The characters who facilitate alchemical reactions and brews are some of the most scientific around in the way they operate, and for that reason I'm of the belief that the concept of a 'boom stick gun thing' would have most certainly made it into the minds of those characters by now, and rather quickly established given the current state of alchemy. Since its pretty easy to establish a reason for these things being around lore wise, lets consider why adding alchemical boom sticks wouldn't be the end of the world for magic users and general rpers. Much as magic rp is a quite exclusive thing, not just anyone and their mother is going to be able to get their hands on a rifle, infact I expect that rifle rp is going to stay a very tight knit group with a few tangent cases. Now while the whole concept of exclusivity is another argument entirely, so far with group based magics its worked quite well, and when you consider the roll based system being presented here, the ability to power-game a rifle is going to be damn near impossible in practice. I'm of the belief that giving individuals in the alchemy profession a viable option for long range combat in the same vein as magic however not directly utilizing the void would also allow for some interesting characters to come about as well, and lift the restriction of alchemical being a mainly utilitarian craft. With all of this said, I'm confident that the addition of this lore to current game-play won't make anyone's rp dissipate, or harm the fragile sensibilities of the mage or warrior rp communities. Instead I believe this will provide an interesting alternative specialization for those entrenched in alchemy rp, and further push a drive of innovation and creativity among the player base. This man writes good lore, lets get it implemented.
  21. ((Glorious as always my friend, glad you're keeping the spirit of Errant alive. Amazing read.))
