Leuvaarden’s Rainy Pond Fishermen Guild Fishermen, a man who catches fish for a living or for a sport. Rainy Pond Fishermen, a hearty man or woman with a passion for fishing, a hand in sailing, and a raging crave for adventure and top of the line action. Edward William Cooke, Trouville fishing boat on larboard tack in rough sea, 1839. Watercolor Private Collection. Photo courtesy of the Martyn Gregory Gallery, London. [!] You walk down to the docks of Leuvaarden. Faint shouts can be heard from a distance, shouts with a tune. The sounds become louder. You hear the pushing waves progress their way to you. Suddenly, a large fishing boat floats up and scoots it way to the dock. Ropes are thrown over onto the docks. Men hop out one-by-one and tie down the boat. A thick plank lands on the edge of the docks. Captain Ro'Dair marches off the boat. He lifts one finger, slowly, into the air. He releases a loud, hearty, shout and yells out a small phrase. "THE WHALE" The crew rushes over towards the back of the boat and unties the beast and move the lines over to the dock. The crew shouts and heaves and tugs the large animal onto the stone docks. It shrieks and woddles about. Captain Ro'Dair looks up from the whale to you. He gives a small wave. The Leuvaarden Rainy Pond Fishermen chant the guild's name and they drag the beast off and into the faintly tinted fog. You wander into the fog. The chants can still be heard. Suddenly, they stop and it becomes quiet. As you approach closer, you begin to see the crew and its activity. They circle around the whale’s limp body and they kneel down, removing their hats. Captain Ro’Dair circles around the beast as he holds his hat to his chest. “Teh’ Creator ‘as given us a gift lads. We’ve worked ‘ard and teh’ Creator ‘as noticed. It’s a blessin’.” After the men finish their praise to the Creator, the crew hauls the whale off to the hall. Captain Ro’Dair puts his hat back on and begins to walk up. Out of curiosity you hurry over and tap his shoulder. He turns around with a smile and you both begin your conversation. After asking what the activity was about, Ro’Dair reaches into his coat and pulls out a rolled up piece of paper. “Why don’t ye’ find out for ye’self.” By untying the knot, you open up the piece of paper. It leaves you with the a few small questions. OOC Mc Name: Skype Name (If you have one): IC Name: Race: Are you a citizen of Leuvaarden: Have you had previous experience in fishing or sailing: Favorite sea shanty (if you know any): Why do you wish to be apart of the Rainy Pond Fishermen: Information about the Guild After talking to Captain Ro’Dair or Alexandre Cossete, you’d be given a hearty welcome and a room in the Rainy Pond Fishermen Guild Hall. You’d be equipped with fishing poles and nets if you need. Aside from the Hall, you’d be given a ship rank. Rank List Captain The man in charge of the boat and everyone on board. Normally gives orders. Whatever he says, happens, no matter how sketchy the situation may look. Quartermaster The Captain’s right hand man. Has almost the same amount of authority as the captain. Most orders will be given by the Quartermaster. Navigator The man in charge of estimating how far and long the travel will be. Often times steers the boat/ship. The Navigator would also map out any area that isn’t already mapped out. Boatswain Preps the boat/ship before sailing off. The Boatswain is in charge of checking the maintenance of the boat, such as inspecting the sails and initial integrity of the anchor. Surgeon/Carpenter Man in charge of repairing the ship of any damages, such as broken boards or ripped sails. Rigger It isn’t the safest job on the boat/ship. Riggers are the men that sit atop the masts and raise and lower the sails and run lines around the ship, keeping the ship’s masts stable. Mate A Mate is the average sailor. He would swab the decks when told to and cook for the crew when commanded to. Mates would be the men on the main decks that cast fishing lines and toss nets and cages.

Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: [Denied]Sean_Desed's [Wood Elf] 5Th Lotc Application Started by sean_desed, 10 Jun 2013 Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): The website wouldn't let me post anything. Have you read the Elven lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes. Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Where you create or you are given a character that fits your personality and appearance and act as that character inside the game. You don’t let go or break character as long as you’re playing as him/her. Meta-gaming: Using out of character information to aid you in-game. Example- A friend of the opposite race is team-speaking you and lets you know about a surprise attack on a location. Power-emoting: Acting too quickly and not letting the other person reply to that action. Example- John is having a duel with his opponent. They both draw their sword and gain a stance. John lunges out towards his opponent and slices his head off immediately. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Finrod Felagund Current Age: 171 Sub-race (if any): Wood-Elf Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Finrod Felagund grew up as the average medium class Elf. His parents owned a medium sized farm house on the outskirts of Malinor. They also owned a lot of land for farming crops. His parents made their living by farming food for themselves and any food they didn’t think they needed they either sold to the great city’s citizens or donated it to the Malinor High-Guard. As young Finrod aged older to his child state his parents taught him to speak fluently and write the Elven language. He practiced these skills for many years. Whenever he was allowed by his parents he went outside and normally looked for friends to talk to. He did find friends though they were normally busy helping their parents farm for food which gave Finrod more time to practice his speech. Young Finrod grew older to his teenage years. When his birthday reached his father had given him a longbow and his mother had given him a quiver of fine carved arrows. Finrod’s father later set up a target against a tree and taught him how to arch. After the first few arrows were shot Finrod realized how well he was at it. He practiced for hours every day and had fun with it. From that day forward he was shaping his future whether he knew it or not. Finrod is no longer a young elf. He has grown older and older. He decided that he would aid his parents in the bills for the house by paying rent each week. He then traveled off into the great city of Malinor searching for a job of some sort. He got an apprenticeship at the local blacksmith, but that didn’t work out so well. He found a position for a baker at the city’s bakery. He learned there to make break and bake cakes. The job was going great and at the rate he was at he could afford a small house in the residential area. However before he bought the house he was laid off of work. While still living in his parent’s house he practiced archery. Then one day low ranked High-Guard member walked by and noticed Finrod’s Archery skills. The man politely asked if Finrod to join the High-Guard to aid in the protection of the great city of Malinor. Finrod was shocked for a moment and took a minute to think then accepted the offer. His parents didn’t approve of this though however it was their choice. Finrod then packed his things and left leaving him where he is now. Ambitions for the Future: Join the Malinor High-Guard and get to the rank of a sentinel and protect the great city. Personality: Finrod is a very comical person, he is kind-hearted, Loves to meet people, and he is patient and generous, keeps aware of his surroundings, strict when he needs to be. Skills: Fluently speaks and writes the Elven language, great archer, handyman, green-thumb (good farmer), runs long distances, not the best with a blade/sword. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Long brown hair, hooded coat, thick heavy duty pants, lightweight shoes. Any other details you wish to share about your character: Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react? Answer: I check my surroundings for ambushes of the opposite races. After making sure the area is safe I walk up to the men and stand in front of the child blocking their vision to him. I ask politely why they are picking on this young one. They reply by spitting on my shoes and asking me why I should care. I then look at my shoes to see that the leather is ruined. I look up and stare into the men’s eyes and let them know that they shouldn’t treat their peers this way. They shove me aside and circle me and ask why they shouldn’t. I reply and surprise them by telling them that I am in the Malinor High-Guard. They ease off and I can see their facial expressions change immediately in nervousness. They sincerely apologize and I tell them that their apology is accepted by me. Then they thank me for that and then they walk off slowly. I catch them and order them to stay. Then order them to apologize to the child. They gave a weak apology and I stop the kid from saying anything. I then tell them that if the child doesn’t accept they will be sent to jail under the charges of child-abuse and that they may want to give a better apology than just I’m sorry. I give the men a minute to say what they need to then listen in to hear the kid crying. I turn around in disappointment and see that they are picking on him again. I then draw my sword and tell them that they are under arrest and that any attempt to break free will result in death under the name of justice. Then walk them to the Malinor jail cells. 2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do? Answer: I rush to the man. I ask if he is okay then grab his scratched up walking stick and assist him to his feet. Then he looks sadly at his coins. I hurry to them picking them up and putting them into the pouch. I tie it together and hand it politely to the man and he thanks me for the assistance. I ask where he is headed and he replies the great city of Malinor. I ask him where his escort is and he claims he is on his own. I then tell him that I will be glad to escort him to the city. He sits down on a bench about half way to the destination and asks for a break. I sit next to him as he pulls out a book. I ask what the book is about and he opens it. I then look in amazement. Page after page was a different species of flower, plant, and sapling. He then flips the page to a nice looking flower and says that he is out to buy these for his wife. I let him know that his wife will love them and that they are beautiful. We continue walking to the flower shop and proceed to pick up the flowers. After he buys them I ask if he needs an escort home. He replies no and relieves me of my duty and says you look like you’ve been through enough today and says he will find someone else. 3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved). Answer: I check the surroundings and walk up to the man and his cart. He tells me that the cart has nearly everything you could imagine. I look into the cart and a quiver of fine crafted arrows catches my eye. I tell his to retrieve them so I may get a better look at them. He pulls out the arrows and informs me that there is a camouflage netting to go with it. I look at the man with amazement and excitement. He gives me the information of the crafters and how well of shape they are in. I ask the man how much it will me and he replies only 30 minas. I look into my satchel and see that I only have 17 minas and a sack of well sized iron shavings. I give him the 17 minas and ask how much iron shavings would sell for. He claims that the shavings will cover about 6 minas. I look into my bag and down at the bottom I see my flimsy knife. I pull it out and ask if this will cover it. He claims that the items would cover the arrows cost. I then realize that it is a bad deal. I tell him that I would like to keep the knife on my for safety purposes and that I wouldn’t give it to him. He looks at me and says well why don’t you give me the old arrows you have and that old quiver and pay the 17 minas and it will cover it. I don’t realize that it is a bad deal and accept the offer. We trade the items and money and he packs up and I walk off. Then it finally comes to me that a good quiver of arrows is just as well as an old one. I rush back to the man to see that his carriage is gone. I then enrage myself but get over it and head back to the barracks.

When he was born his parents brought him out to the outer parts of his homeland Malinor. Growing, yet still young his parents taught him his skills. His father taught him skills such as farming, archery, building, and survival techniques. Whenever his mother got the time she would teach young Finrod how to read and speak fluently, cooking, and would assist in teaching him how to farm. After being taught how to craft he ventured out to the great forest. He saw a large, beautiful tree where be built himself a tree house. He would hunt for small animals such as rabbit and squirrel through a well sized window space. After knocking another whole in the wall for a window he realized he could see a pathway and beyond that an enormous tree holding structures all around it. Then after ending a small animal through his window he looked at the pathway and saw large men of scattered races with axes in hand. He quickly dashed home before being seen to tell his parents of what was happening. He and his father gathered some neighbors to help defend the forest. Some people set up camp in bushes while Finrod and his father set up in his tree house. The group of friends and family survived the first wave. Someone in the group ran to the great city to warn the troops. The second wave came and everyone was feeling strong, but they couldn’t hold them back for that long. They were forced to retreat and they lost a good part of the forest. Smoke from the burning trees and houses filled the air and then some troops showed up. The army of races was defeated and killed in the name of justice. Growing older Finrod looked back at the night of the attack. He thought he could’ve done better. He felt as is the other elves weren’t proud of him, though they were. The then gathered his saved money of the years and moved out to buy a small residential house. Feeling in dept for the community he set off to join the Malinor High-Guard to repay for the night of the attack. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react? Answer: I walk up with caution to the older elves. I let them know what they are doing and tell them how much trouble they can get into. They reply violently by saying “What does it matter to you. You’re not being hurt. Why don’t you go bother someone else by stating every rule in the book.” Enraged, I walk up to the child and stand in front of him blocking the elves view of the child. I reply to the older elves “ Well I’ll have you know that I am in the Malinor High-Guard and that I will be happy to report you all to the higher authority. One of the elves apologizes for what he has done and then tries to walk off. I stop him and pull out a quill and paper and say “Oh, you’re not getting away that easily.” I hand them the paper and let them know that it is a fine due to the Malinor government. I send the elves on their way and ask the child why they were picking on him. He replies “I don’t wish to talk about it.” And I say “Have it your way.” Then get back to my duties of patrolling the streetss a fine due to the Malinor government. Answer: I proceed to the man keeping an eye out in the trees. I gather the coins and put them in the pouch. I ask him if he is okay and he says “Yes I’m fine.” I look for his walking stick and walk down path to see it all scratched up. I return it and let him know that I’m sorry about the walking stick and tell him to look at the bright-side, it has a nice miscellaneous pattern on it. I assist him up to his feet. Then return his pouch of coins. He asks me if I took any and I reply “No sir I honestly didn’t take any.” He then starts to walk down the pathway toward the great city of Malinor. He asks me to escort him and I gladly do so. He then finds a bench to sit upon and he pulls out a book. He opens it and on each page there is a different species of leaves and flowers. He says “I was just on my way to the city to look at the plants they have. I do this nearly every day.” I sit next to him and ask “You go through this trouble every day to go somewhere to look at plants? Without an escort.” He smiles and says “Some days I have escorts some days I don’t” He then gets up to proceed walking and I follow. I look back into the cart and see that there is a lot of valuable and nice looking items. He tells me that everything is brand new. I couldn’t make up my mind on what to get until I asked what was under a plank of wood. He shuffles through everything to get to the plank of wood. He removes it and a quiver with camouflage colored netting full of well crafted arrows appears. They look extremely expensive and I look into my pockets to see that I probably couldn’t afford it. The man names a high price for the quiver and arrows. I pull out all of my money and ask “How many arrows will this get me?” He asks me if that is all I have and I pull out my old arrows and quiver. He says that he will take the money and items for the quiver and arrows. I walk off to fire a couple practice shots at a tree and realize that these are worth so much more and I go back to the cart to see the trader packing up. I ask what his name is and he says “I don’t wish to give away my personal information.” I reply to him asking where you normally set up shop and he says “Around here every day.” I told him that I would bring some of my friends to help him boost his business and income. He thanks me greatly and I tell him before I go “I think these arrows are worth a lot more than the items and money I gave you.” He replied “I know, but I love to help out the High-Guard no matter the cost. I then leave his cart again to feel proud for what he did for me.

They own a lot of land but it is nearly all used for the farms. The property also has a large oak tree in the corner of the owned land nearby a decent size oak forest. When young Finrod grew to his child ages, his family taught him home skills and also taught him lessons on how to read and write the elven language. As he progressed to speak fluently he did as told and asked for little. Then the day came when he decided that he wanted a treehouse. Finrod’s father would help him as soon as Finrod picked out a tree. Most of the trees did not suit him well enough, some were too flimsy, some were too dry. Then he went out to the further parts of the land and then his answer, right in front of him, the last tree to be thought of, the growing oak tree. Finrod gazed at it in such joy and he knew immediately that the oak was the answer. His father got the supplies and tool and a few days later, the great treehouse was ready to be enjoyed. For days Finrod was too busy to do anything but have fun in his treehouse. Finrod, still not an adult, but in his teens got a job in the outer parts of the great city. He got a job as a baker and made and sold bread. On occasion he would make cakes and decorate them. He helped his family finacialy, but the business was failing slowly. He made some food and put them in carts and brought them to the great city of Malinor to try to boost sales for the bakery. This attempt of sales worked but he had to make long tiring trips up and over steep hills. Not to mention the cart can only hold so much bread and cakes. A few weeks later Malinor was unexpectedly attacked. A depression had started and many including Finrod lost their jobs. Finrod’s parents decided to teach him how to farm and he helped farm for the family and got his part of the job done. At the age of 17 Finrod received a long bow and an empty quiver for his birthday. His father passed down his skill of crafting and taught him how to make arrows out of feathers and sticks. The quiver was then filled with arrows and at the base of his treehouse he set up a target to fire at. He figured out his own technique on how to aim and shoot his arrows. Then he decided that when he was old enough and trained enough he would join the Malinor High-Guard. He told his parents his idea, but his parents wouldn’t let him go. For the next couple years he trained and farmed. When Finrod reached his 30’s he was offered an unknown high paying job by some random citizen. He accepted without caution, because he knew that his family and their property were threatened to be taken by the government. He was told to loot off of chests and take items from abandoned houses. Then when his boss realized that he was trusted enough he was given the order to rob and destroy a rich humans house. He found the described house then took all he could carry and put it into the cart. Before he left he layed down a burning torch on the man’s rug in the living room. The house was slowly engulfed in the flames, though he hadn’t noticed that the owner of the house was upstairs, he kept walking. He returned to his boss and gave him the items and received his money. Then walked home with his lump of money and he felt proud of himself. The next morning Finrod woke up to the sound of knocking on his front door. His boss was there with a note, Finrod took the note and his boss walked off casually. He read the note and it stated that a Sariant had died in the fire. His boss came back later and said that he was sorry to put him through that and left a large sack of Minas. Finrod informed his boss that he no longer wished to work for him anymore. He then proceeded to live his life training and practicing his skills. Years later he was no longer needed by his parents. He then settled off to the inner part of the great city of Malinor and progressed his dream to join the Malinor High-Guard. Ambitions for the Future: Finrod wishes to join the Malinor High-Guard to protect the great city and the nation. Finrod also wishes to find a nice woman and start a relationship and family. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react? Answer: I walk up to them and stand in front of the child to block their vision to the child. The I tell the older elves a couple jokes to slightly take their mind off of what just happened. While doing that I nudge the child to go and find somewhere to sit. Then tell the men that they should be ashamed of themselves. After scolding the older elves I go off to find the child and question him on what happened. I give him some food and water to confort him, confort him, then have a conversation with him. Once he feels better about what happened I send him off to go find his parents. Once he gets up and leaves I will do the same as he does and I will follow him at a respectful distance to make sure he gets where he needs to be. Answer: I rush to him and bring him to his feet and I ask if he is okay. I quickly pick up his coin and put them into the pouch where they were before and tie it closed. I hand it to the man and let him know that I didn’t take a single coin. I get his walking stick and hand it to him. Then I will walk with him to a nearby bench. Once he is seated I will give him some water and check to see if he is okay. Once he thinks he is rested enough to get back to walking I will point out store and shelters down the road. Then I will send him on his way. Answer: I walk to the cart to realize that I am low on arrows in my quiver. I ask the trader if he has any arrows. He looks back at the cart and pulls out a quiver of well-crafted arrows. He tells me to name a price and I tell him that I would like them cheap. I offer a price of 10 Minas. The trader delcares that he would like 20 Minas for the arrows. I look into my pockets and realize that I only have 16 Minas. I tell him that I would like the arrows for 13 minas. The trader states 17. I compromise with him and we come up with 15 Minas for the arrows. He agree and I hand him the 15 Minas and in return I receive the well-crafted arrows. He lets me know that it was a pleasure doing business with me and I give him many thanks. I then walk off to fire a few practice shots at some trees.
