Functions too strongly against too many functions of mages. 

I.E. Can cut through wall & shield spells from the evocation, disperse a spell with an attack at the same time (imagine cutting through a fireball & also getting an attack in on the mage behind it with a pole-arm), counters atronachs & all lesser conjurations. You can stack & spam it in combat, there's no counter to it & most mages can't don armor.

this isn't really a good all around guide, this guide is about specifically how to use the basic vortex crafting functions just on the temp map with all their locations right there and all the crafting benches already right there and tools spawned for us and the entire server ready to help one another in OOC.

tell the players what node items they need to get a specific tool

find the new node materials in harvestable areas

wait a day for your energy cooldown

get a new tool

new nodes

different benches

new tool

craft the 1 item you want

repeat but only after you wait another 24 hours

as opposed to the vanilla minecraft way of doing things, which everyone a-priori understands because... they bought the minecraft game, which is often as simple as a 1 to 5 step process. Even dying glass only takes sand, wood, stone, flowers. Anyone can do that.

RP and OOC are separate for metagaming only, otherwise the RP is a direct reflection of what people are OOC’ly interested in performing on a game. Sure, there are okay ways of going about doing some discriminatory RP, but there’s no need to discount that someone willing to RP a homophobe lovingly and with a lot of RP rhetoric to back it up is probably OOC’ly fixated on something. I mean, it’s honestly weird to find whole pages of people writing homophobic content just to then go ‘I’m only role-playing, all this homophobia is in the spirit of big fun and immersion!!!”

@SquakHawk What I question is the range of most magics compared to these new ranged-weapon balances. Some of these spells have ranges listed which seem much shorter than the range of bows and crossbows at 45 blocks. I think shooting someone from 45 blocks away is insane, that’s outside of some render distances and outside of #rp channel ranges.

These spells seem to outclass crossbows, and they are certainly more destructive than a single bolt. You can say that a crossbow can kill someone in three emotes, but it won’t, not if they have any amount of armor or awareness they are going to be shot. 

Guess I just wasn’t around during this, my bad! How many players in total joined the discord and contributed to these works? 

It takes four emotes to draw and can’t ‘reliably’ pierce chain. What do you think the crossbow was invented to do? This makes forms of bows better than crossbows across the board, where’s the upside? Look at the crank crossbow and ask yourself why I would ever use it instead of a recurve bow? Why did Auric_Saint get to decide all of this? Where was the player feedback?

Travelling merchant! Good way to expose yourself to the differing cultures of cities. I’m always getting told the town I just came from is filled with jackasses and morons.

Alchemy is an incredibly difficult feat to RP requiring meticulous precision and a natural grace in emoting that most slobbish LotC players are utterly incapable achieving with their inexperienced, chicken-grease covered fingers. Only the truly high class of our server should be allowed to take flexible reagents and combine them with genius and innovation to craft alchemical wonders. Do you really want everyone on the server to have an infinite supply of exploding bottles of death? Unlikely that you have considered the impacts of your foolish presumption that the weak-minded can handle this subject matter, lmao.

I don’t much mind players being forced to tell the truth through magic, because most players powergame lying anyway. If all a magic is good for is preventing players from lying in such a way that no one can tell that they’re lying from their emotes, that doesn’t seem that bad. It’s not unfortunate when you are used to the high privilege of being able to lie in RP without ever having to deal with verbal ticks, confusion, or the stress of a real tribunal that someone may strip you of that right to basically cheat, through magic. 

As someone who got a lot of use out of mental magic roleplaying as a shade and a frost witch, I greatly enjoyed the heightened creativity in the sleeping illusions. I rarely used the magic to sway trials or interrogations, and I mainly just PM’d people ((Got a ward?)) so my character could read their name to come across as a little spookier. I taught a lot of magic through mental magic because it made it easier to control surroundings to make it more fantasy-esque, and as far as spooking people goes, mental magic was tier 1 for scary RP.
