  1. What are your thoughts on magic characters and creatures befriending others meant to be their sworn enemy in rp?  Example is druids x void mages, or vampires and azdrazi 

     

    imho there should be consequences for anyone trying to ignore conflict.  This also isn’t to call out anyone specific, just a general thought

      I got a bit of an opinion on this so I am sorry for the post. I'm speaking from personal experiences.

       

      I was an Ascended player who went out of her way to roleplay with dark magic players in a less violent way because... well, I just want to see how that interaction will go and what my character may discover by not being violent (and I actually gained quite a lot of information about dark magics and beings by doing this). I've had many amazing interactions with dark magic users that wasn't all out-hostile but the hostility was sitll there. It wasn't the 'We're friends now, woo hoo!' or 'Imma ignore you because we're buds' RP but it was the 'We dislike the other for what they believe and will fight one day, now isn't the time' RP.

       

      Lore says you have to conflict because your lore says so, but I disagree - everyone should be allowed to RP how their character interacts with others how they believe their character would. One cleric might want to purge all dark beings, another might want to understand why someone resorted to dark means so they can ensure another doesn't go that route. There will always be in character consenquences for maybe being more neutral and maybe they have a good reason to being neutral or non-confrontational - like say, I can't go kill that spook due to him being in a high position in a nation and killing him outright may cause consenquences for my playerbase, so I seek out alternatives or not go after them, even if it causes people to oocly attack me for not going for them. Sometimes, even enemies must team up temporarily against a bigger threat when it makes itself known, which in itself is an amazing RP instance when pulled off and can lead to a lot of character development. I remember when I teamed with a character named Glineth who was a dark magic character because we were in a demon realm with others and it wasn't the time for me to attack her, so we had to team up to get ourselves out. Better to have one enemy and one ally than two enemies in that instance. After that instance, my character and Glineth had times we fought against each other.

       

      At the end of the day, people who follow this should understand both icly and oocly of the consenquences and have that mentality of 'you cannot be friends - but you can have mutral respect and understanding to your enemies'. You chose that magic and you have to follow the rules but do roleplay with your enemies in ways that do not break any rules if it's benefical for your mission (Example: Druid interacting with a void mage to understand how voidal magic works so they can later heal nature from voidal wounds / a newly made Azdrazi interacting with a paladin to try and understand the other side of the story, etc). Never be put off with the chance of gaining a rival or mutral respect for your enemies, or wanting to learn information in a different method. This is something that shouldn't be discouraged by 'Oh you HAVE to hate them' and 'Your lore says you have to be enemies', I think people need to understand sometimes it gets boring when you are expected to immediately see someone an enemy for what they are, rather than do what your character would feel regarding this. It isn't as fun as you'd think, especially when you've been doing the same old 'we meet and we fight' roleplay for two whole years - you just wanna try something new, even if the community oocly backlashes on you and hates you for wanting to just try something a little different. It should be encouraged for people to roleplay their character's beliefs first, and what their lore says second, and see where they go - face the consenquences but not be hated oocly for it because they were just roleplaying their character. Be sensible about it and most of all, see where it goes.

      6/19 – its the 20th by now in a majority of the timezones and just about to turn 20th in the most Eastern USA states. So it’s really cutting close for Flam, and while he did state he was extending his hiatus – he has not given a specific date as to how long he has extended for. So... currently, people are still likely going by the time he had officially announced to begin with as there’s been no mention of the extension time.

      It is when you’re at risk of being shelved, and we literally just got a rewrite polished up and accepted. And now we’re expected to rewritte that magic again only a month into that magic being accepted. That’s what has members of the Ascended community stressed out – that we’re going to have to potentially rewrite our magic again when we’re just starting to relax down from the six month period of lore writing and using our new magic. Not to mention many of us will have school, college, university, and work to focus on as well.

       

      I hold no doubt that any recently accepted rewrites with a community are feeling stressed out regarding this also.

      I talked with Delmodan. Chances are, its just formatting for the Ascended Lore (which I am okay with – there’s some errors I need to fix anyway and that’s good!)But I am worried that this announcement will cause immense stress for many magic communities and players. Especially with how it was announced, and this is Flambo really – so anything can happen.

      Maybe but I’m going to check with the ST and see if the Ascended will be falling into this area also. It doesnt feel right to expect us to just rewrite our magic a month after the new rewrite we worked 6 months on got accepted/

  11. Will the denial reason for Ascended and Cleric (+soul tree rewrite) be updated anytime soon? It was denied on Wednesday and doesn’t have a reason yet despite one supposed to be edited in shortly...

      Heya! The first Ascended rewrite needed to be denied as a new rewrite that I posted was made. The reason why the first one was denied is basically because that was the base version that Jallentime wrote and it needed heavy editing but we couldn’t due to Lark uploading it then leaving. So we had to upload the now remastered rewrite. It should have been denied sooner but at least the LT did not forget it. The current one is now on pending and me and the members of the Ascended community are working on making the necessary edits that were given to us.

       

      Will admit, seeing the first rewrite denied actually caused some of us Ascended members to panic, thinking it was the lore I posted that got denied. However, we soon realised it wasn’t the current one but the old one. We got bamboozled.

  12. What’s the status on the recent lorewipes?  Has the LT offered any explanation as to what the heck is going on with necro/holy magic recently?

      What Flambo said, though Paladins have been accepted, Ascended is still in the works, and clerics have been denied. Necromancy is gone though too.

  13. I know there's alot of stuff going around with magic rewrites, but how is the Potion Index coming along? Made on May 21st, but there doesn't seem to be anything here. Not griping, just wondering a bit. We still have the one from Jistuma so there's not really a rush, just wanting an update whenever possible.

      Mhm, I can state that one regent is tied deeply to the new Ascended lore, and I'm also going to be making a clearer bunch of notes regarding the use of lightstone, ruibirum, a range of other crystals, and other regents in Alchemy. All of which is going to follow the same structure as Jistuma's Alchemy lore - written in character (which is consistent since Elvira's Alchemy teacher was Daniel Nodal, Jistuma's character who wrote said lore).

       

      It's a neat little project I gave myself. ^_^

      Not sure really but I know there's a few minor changes coming to Alchemy in the Lore Submissions page. I'm also making a lore post about a few other regents that don't seen to have lore for them, as well as create a few new potions for them too, since Alchemy is one of my most favourite lores on here.

      If this is an alt account you wish you apply for the server, you don't need to create an entirely new whitelist for it. Instead, you must use the alternative account application format which is basically just OOC details to let us know what alt account you want whitelisted, and so forth. Once done, you post it in the same area as all whitelists but make it clear in the title that this is for an alt account, and also log into the server as your alt account so that a member of the AT is capable of whitelisting you if the application is accepted.

  24. Isn't it too harsh to deny someone for being 12? We had a lot of this SJW stuff recently where we need to make stuff new-player friendly or young player friendly. Now, someone has to wait, I don't know, six months so he turns 13 and can finally play on a game for kids?

    We're not going elf cybering roleplay on all of this, and I, from a personal point of view, don't see an issue on someone being 12.

     

    I remember back then when being 13 to ROLEPLAY on a GAME FOR KIDS (lets be honest here, Minecraft is PG 4 and we don't need to go on a crusade by denying everyone that is 12, since people can mature with the server too. Either adapt or leave is the rule of the jungle.

     

    And then again, besides the creepy spook fucks, what makes LotC an "only big boys" game? I don't recall LotC being a game for people with 13 years or so.

     

     

    I'd also like to point out that I'm not criticising the people that made the replies, but instead, the AT guidelines.

      I'm afraid that's the new rules that were changed a while ago - you need to be 13 to join the server, as it is PG 13 and is necessary for any applying players to be 13 years old since such content isn't suitable for kids under that age rating. For example - torture, combat, sexual innuendos and indications, and so forth. It may be hard but it is necessary.

  25. The reason guilds don't build in nations is because nation RP right now sucks bad.

      Just adding on from what was said.

      It also depends on the relationship between a guild and a city in roleplay, such as the history, etc.  For example - a guild may not want to reside within a nation because of the nation's history with the guild, such as guild members being attack or discriminated against by residents and higher ups of the city. Or the nation may not want a particular guild in their land because the guild has been rumoured to do a lot of bad things. It's completely fine and reasonable for some guilds not to be in nations, if they have RP reasons and explanations not to, and the same goes for a nation not allowing a particular group in. Some guilds may work well being in a nation, some nations may work well with a guild within them, sometimes they don't and end up parting away. That's just how things work in roleplay and it's completely natural. 

       

      Regarding OOC , the key thing here is not to rely completely on OOC to state if a guild should be in a nation, or if a nation should allow a guild to establish in them - such as if a nation owner hates a particular group and doesn't want them in their nation just because he or she thinks they are outdated, or plain silly in terms of concept. Or a guild just refuses to go to a nation because of OOC reasons regarding people within that nation. Yes, bad experiences with a nation/guild oocly can make you unwilling to go, but that doesn't mean ooc should fully justify your reason not to go / keep people out. In a way, you will more than likely stop roleplay for both sides from occurring by fully relying on OOC reasons, instead of just swallowing the heistation down and just going to roleplay. There's nothing wrong with OOC reasons but I believe people need to not rely on OOC 100% when it comes to if a guild will be in a nation or not.

       

      Some guilds may want to be separate from a nation, much so for the reasons Blundermore explained, but the guild will also have to be responsible for searching for their own roleplay and visiting nations to get the roleplay - and some of the groups I know are considering being out of nations are willing to accept the risk for such but still want to go to nations. Some nations may not want a guild to be established within their land, but they should at least be willing to allow guild members to visit the nation and be able to roleplay without OOC driving them out - else they will only reduce the potential activity the visiting guild members will give them. That way, we all get roleplay, we all get what we want. It's up to both sides to ensure this is done. But OOCly forcing guilds to be in nations purely to raise activity within nations shouldn't be permitted- everything needs to flow and both OOC and RP needs to work hand in hand with each other.

       

      That's what I have to say on the matter.
