  7. The Order of Ursus Mission Statement The Ursurian Order operates in the lands surrounding Pembroke, Arbor, and Curon. Originally established by a contingent of Curonian Knights following the collapse of the Principality of Curon, the Order was created to uphold Curonic virtues, values and culture. As the years have passed, and the Curonic people scattered throughout the land, the Ursurian Order has remained a bastion of Curonic identity, fiercely protecting their people and their values. Alongside it’s militaristic aspects, the Order serves the purpose of gathering beacons of Curonic ideals and uniting them. Knights and Lords who are willing and able, can provide men and funds to the Order as a show of good faith, as well as giving permission for the Order to operate on their lands. They will become allies of the Order and form a camaraderie with them. In return, in times of war, the collective force of the Order will stand with them, in victory or defeat. Members of the Order are trained individuals equipped in full armor, proficient with the sword, the axe and the spear, in conjunction with a shield. They roam the countryside, patrol the villages or act as stationary guards. Regardless of their position, they are tasked to follow a code. The code inside the Order is absolute. Their Code is simple, but requires strict discipline and commitment. They must display absolute loyalty to their Lord and their Commander. They must trust and defend brothers in arms. They must be courageous and sincere. Finally, they must protect the helpless and Curonic values. Members of the Order fighting bandits. Ranks Captain The Captain is the senior-most official of the Order. He is the highest authority within the Order and controls every aspect of the Orders’ affairs. He handles ceremonial promotions, granting of awards, as well as providing the resources for the Order to be well supplied and well maintained. He is assisted by the Masters of Arms. Master of Arms The Master of Arms is an Officer inside the Order. He is a squad leader, commanding troops for missions, patrols and skirmishes. He is in charge of training the Ordermen, as well as informing the Captain about possible promotions and hardware requirements. Above all else, he is the safekeeper of the Code. Man at Arms The Man at Arms is the rank appointed to the experienced members of the Order. These men have experienced the blood, the smoke and the hardships of combat and have prevailed. They are capable of handling tough missions and are sometimes tasked with showing the younger members the ropes. Initiate This rank is given to the newer members of the Order. They undergo rigorous training to strengthen their body and minds and become capable warriors. The missions they get aren’t the hardest, but they ain’t short in danger either. A Man at Arms Requirements To join the Order you must be a Human male of at least sixteen years of age. The Northern Research Guild Founded by Ser Thorburn Grimbeorn, 1548 The Northern Research Guild was created with the purpose of giving those with bright ideas the chance to pool their knowledge and resources with others of similar capability to invent magnificent contraptions, discover new findings, and excel in their field of knowledge. People of all race and ethnicity are allowed and encouraged to join, should they meet the proper requirements. The guild’s base of operation is situated in Courland. Any member who joins that desires Housing may speak to Ser Thorburn Grimbeorn, founder and Head of the Guild. Information Although the Guild is stationed in Courland, that does not mean it doesn’t take outside requests, information, or otherwise, so long as it is at friendly terms with Oren. The Guild will refuse to supply outside factions with weaponry or siege engines unless permitted. The Guild is seperated into three departments, each specializing in some aspect of the known world. Each department may have their own sub-department, studying the likes of other or closely related fields of study. During certain projects, the departments may often collaborate with each other, each handling what the other does not. Researchers may also conduct projects of their own, and may even ask for assistance from other members. ~ Department of Physical Studies The Department of Physical Studies focuses on the inner workings of the physical world, studying the properties of nature and physical matter. The researchers of this department not only work experimentally, but theoretically, devising new ideas and notions, then testing them to prove their accuracy, or perhaps to discover otherwise. Department of Engineering The Department of Engineering works to develop new machines and contraptions, often assisting the other departments in testing their theories, collaborating to invent new designs and useful tools. Not only do they serve this purpose, but this department also works to develop siege weaponry, also comprising of architects. Department of Magic The Department of Magic studies the works and concepts of magic, ranging from the Arcane to the Dark Arts themselves (within boundaries). They may spend countless hours researching that which relates to the mysteries of magic, inluding abstract thoughts and ideas. This department may often send expeditioners to recover and study magical artifacts. ~ Members of the Guild are often given assignments or tasks, usually relating to that of the current Project. Major projects are assigned by either the Head of the Guild or the Head of Research, whilst minor ones are commissioned by the Heads of each department. Projects are given with the goal to develop something new or discover a new level of understanding. Records are to be kept of each project briefly before, during, and the results. The records will be stored in the Hall of Records, which is open to all members of the Guild, researchers, and the curious. Non-recorded projects will be considered for personal interest, and the Guild shall refuse any affiliation. Chain of Command Head of the Guild Ser Thorburn Grimbeorn The Head of the Guild is the one who coordinates everything inside the Guild. He delivers the project ideas, ensures that resources exist, hands out tasks and makes sure everything works like clockwork. Head of Research James Hawthorne Kyd The Head of Research oversees and manages all the main departments. They will often deliver assignments, propose ideas, and participate in the workings themselves. The Head of Research also assumes command if the Head of the Guild is absent. Head of Magic N/A The Head of Magic oversees the Magic Department. They specialize in the field of Magic, proposing ideas and assignments, and reporting to the Head of Research. They deliver word to and from the Head of Research, and may act as an advisor for future projects. Head of Physical Studies N/A The Head of Physical Studies oversees the Physics Department. Mastered in their understanding of the physical world, they participate in projects and report to the Head of Research. They may act as an advisor for future projects. Head of Engineering James Hawthorne Kyd (Self-appointed until further notice.) The Head Engineer oversees the Engineering Department, helping develop and build new machines and contraptions.
