  1. Volume I: The Wyvern A painting, “Lonely Ride” by Hans Thoma Distant shrills called from the deep fog as Dame Valda rode upon the ship's bow, sailing onto the unknown with her fellow crewmembers and captain, Alikos Bayac, at her side. The year was 1913, and she stood silently between the canons, wielding a torch in one hand and her blade in the other. Before the crew could think, a Wyvern hatchling had clung to their ship's side, spraying boiling water onto a crew mate that manned a canon near that edge. Their preparations had fallen flat in defense against such a beast, quickly the Dame, Valda, jumped toward the edge to drive her sword into the face of the beast, easily stabbing between the weak scales of the beast before the Wyvern snapped at the knight’s arm, though did little damage to the mighty Dame. Soon, the beast quickly flies overhead of the crew to the port side, spraying the members of the ship as it made its way to the other side, though before it lands another member of the crew would manage to shoot a bolt at the scaled beast, combusting on impact and redirecting the route of the Wyvern, but setting the large ship aflame as it did so, large flames erupting from the vessel. ~ ~ The Dame sought to put down the fire as the remaining crewmates defended themselves and the boat, Marian, launching bolts and canons in an attempt the throw the beasts off balance, and successfully doing so as they landed a mighty blow with a canon, launching the Wyvern into the sky, only for a much larger Wyvern to appear thereafter, the mother, focusing on a nearby Hanseni vessel that too sailed those dangerous seas. The Crew took this time to prepare their own boat, watching as well as the Haense vessel put up a decent fight against the scaled beast, slowing the creature dramatically yet failing to finish it off, and after a number of successful shots from the crewmembers aboard the Marion, the cannon that Valda manned alongside another crewmate finally killed the beast, the Wyvern creature falling into the depths of those murky waters, releasing a black ichor into the sea… And just at that, a giant tentacle erupted from the sea, snatching the body of the Wyvern and dragging it deep below. The Crew would fire their weaponry at the tentacle, a nearby boat of smugglers identifying the beast as a Kraken. The Captain, Alikos, decided he and his crew were to return to shore, for now, safe from the sea and what may lie below, with no choice but to save what they saw for another day, another adventure. Penned by, Siegfried Ottomar von Alstreim Based on the tale of Dame Valda
