A smile would come to his face as he remembers the downfall of Brog Dhoon, where the High Seneschal 'accidentally' dismantled the entirety of the Military District of Markev--Those were the days, indeed. @Seuss

  12. THESIS ON THE DIVINE RIGHT OF KINGS BY ACOLYTE JOSEPH DE JOANNES 7 Sigismund’s End, 1806 --- Introduction The absolute right of Kings has existed since the days when Exalted Horen was granted stewardship over the World, as King of Man. In modern times, the absolutist regime of the Pertinaxi emperors has left a sour taste in the mouths of those in the Canonist Realms. However, I say that as long as God truly guides the hand of the monarch, unlike the Pertinaxi, his rule should be without question. “‘See, Horen, your wife has borne you three sons of flesh. And heed, she shall bear you three sons of spirit. And witness these, your sons, O Son: Here is the first, the purifier, and he is aflame with righteous justice. Here is the second, the redeemer, and he is awash in august glory. Here is the final son, the preserver, and so I enlighten him with holy wisdom.’ So Horen was blessed with the divine Word, and the Lord released him from the Skies.” Scroll of Gospel 2:71- 77 Monarchy of Horen The coronation of Horen by Tesion, on behalf of God, creates the concept that rulership of God’s World is entrusted to those who are directly chosen by God. In the days of Horen, his rule was absolute, because his subjects could trust that he was guided by God’s wisdom. The wisdom given to Horen by God was passed to his children, and eventually his descendents. I suspect this wisdom was stripped from the Pertinaxi regime when they murdered a man of the cloth and appointed an Anti-Pontiff. However, when a monarch rules with the wisdom of God, we must not question their rule, or establish parliaments to check his power. Because, the power of the monarch is the power of God in this World. “And the Aengul said ‘Here, I cleanse you. And you join God’s servants.’ And again Tesion raised his hands, and placed the laurel upon Horen’s head. And the Aengul said ‘Here, I crown you. And you are His prophet.’” Scroll of Gospel 2:36-38 Inheritance of Women The Inheritance of Women in nobility has been raised in the parliaments of many nations of the Canonist Realm. To that I would say, there is no mention in the Holy Scrolls of sole male inheritance of titles of royalty and nobility. While the Scrolls do place God’s Divine Right with the male monarchs of Aegis, this could be solely due to the fact that Horen had no daughters to raise to the status of a monarch. However, perhaps this was God’s will? I would argue that all monarchs are granted the Divine Right of Kings--even Queens. Though, through their unfaithfulness to the Lord that bestowed this grace upon them, one may lose this right to receive God’s guidance. To conclude, I would say that the inheritance of women is not for the church to decide, but for the current princes of the human realms. “And He placed the Sons among their people as kings, and they testified to His glory.” Scroll of Gospel 1:50
  13. “Good to see you here on this day, brother. We shall begin quite simply. What is your name?” Joseph de Joannes “How old are you?” Approaching my sixteenth name-day “This question is obvious, but it is for the sake of these records. What race of the descendants are you of?” Human- Heartlander, more specifically “You are able to read and write, am I right?” Aye “And with that, I hope you are familiar with the Holy Scrolls and Catechism of our Church?” Aye “You are of course baptized?” Aye “Good, good. Are you married? Do you have children?” No “In what way of the clergy do you wish to serve? As a Priest, or a Monastic?” A priest “This really depends on the needs of the Church, but in what Diocese would you prefer to serve in? You can simply name a city or Kingdom.” Providence “A rather personal question, why have you chosen to walk this path in God?” I have chosen to walk the path of God because of the divisions within the faith. I seek to be a preacher of unification of mankind- to preach the restoration of the great Tapestry of Man. I have seen the hatred between the descendants of Horen, and I pray every night for the grip of Iblees to be cast away, and for brotherly love to be restored. “And lastly, are you truly devoted to this way of life? Prepared to take any vows involved with ordination and commit oneself to this lifetime bond with the Lord Almighty?” Indeed, I am.

  18. 7th of Tov and Yermey, 356 E.S. The waters between Aeldin and Almaris. “I am here for you, my dear.” Sergey Kovachev said to his wife, Valeriya of Vasiland, as she looked down to her stomach. She was heavily pregnant. Aboard a ship, nonetheless. While many would describe her as a tough woman, ever she was frightened of the prospect of giving birth on this underequit vessel. They had been sailing for several days as they returned from visiting distant relatives in the lands of Aeldin. These were troubled waters, and they knew as much. The waters between the continents of the descendants and the lands of Aeldin were violent and storm-ridded. They knew they were bound for troubled watters, though they knew not when. Valeriya grew restless- even more so than the average woman preparing for the possibility of childbirth- as she hoped to give birth to her new child before they came upon the storm that was destined to strike their vessel on the journey home. --- “AHHH!” Screamed Valeriya, now in childbirth, as the ship was violently rocked from side-to-side. On every deck of the ship, people scurried about. Whether it was sailors tying down cannons and cargo, or women rushing to provide aid to the noblewoman giving birth. “I am here for you, my dear.” Sergey attempted to comfort his wife, but to no avail. “Why does Godan do this to me, Sergey?” She asked as sweat and sea-water dripped from her head. Sergey could offer no response, for God works in mysterious ways that he could not understand. “Almost there, my Lady.” One of the ladies called out to Valeriya. The noblewoman continued to sweat, squeezing her husband's hand so tightly, he began to attempt to loosen her grip with his other hand. A sigh of relief fell across the birthing chamber as the new-born was pulled from the womb of Lady Valeriya of Vasiland. A sigh of relief that was almost immediately followed by renewed tension, as another child had been pulled from the womb - two boys. Valeriya’s intense grip on her husband's hand, finally loosening. Sergey planted a kiss on his wife’s forehead, for she had delivered two new baby boys to the House of Kovachev. The sheets of the bed and the towels that littered it were soaked in blood. The women that tended to the birth all appeared with the same concerned look on their features. As the babies were rushed off to be cleaned by a maid, the remainder of the women continued to attempt to soak up the blood caused by the violent birth. “She is bleeding severely.” Uttered another of the women. “W-What do you mean?” Sergey stuttered, looking up from his wife, who had leaned back against the pillows that were stacked behind her head. --- Lady Valeriya of Vasiland would not even be able to see her children, before her untimely death - the wounds of childbirth becoming too much to bear. As she passed on into the Seven Skies, the storms that rocked the Reza Elizaveta began to clear. Sergey and the sailors and maids onboard were finally given a moment to absorb all the trauma that had just occurred. Sergey did not cry for his wife. Their relationship was never one of love, but of mutual respect - himself a member of the House of Kovachev, and her a member of the House of Vanir. Theirs was a union formed to usher in the return of the House of Kovachev. What would he do without her? Sergey thought to himself. While he did not love her, as some men loved their wives, he did respect her. She was a strong woman - far stronger than he was. Sergey had always thought of women in a subservient role to men. Though now he questioned how much of this belief was actually true. While, at first, he did believe their marriage was solely to produce an heir to the House of Kovachev, now he began to realize what he lost in Valeriya Vanir. Valeriya’s strength and persistence was something unique that could not be replaced. She was not just a wife to Sergey, but a partner. --- As he sat back in a wooden rocking chair, Sergey Kovachev held in each of his arms the two new baby boys of the House of Kovachev. He looked over the newborns, their eyes closed as they continued their deep slumber. “I admire you, for you know niet the events of today.” He said. One of the boys - the first born - opened his eyes as Sergey concluded, looking up to his father with his emerald green eyes. A smile extended from ear to ear as Sergey peered down at his heir. “You shall be called Jan.” He whispered. The first born - Jan Kovachev - smiled a newborn smile, almost as if he agreed with the name. The name taken from Blessed John of Carnatia, the first Kovachev duke and veteran of the Dukes' War. “And you…” He uttered with a low voice, turning to his second born son. “I shall call you Drasko.” And with that, Sergey smiled one last time, thinking of how Valeriya would have loved to lay eyes upon their two beautiful children. He leaned his head back against the wood of the rocking chair, closing his eyes, and falling asleep.
