SULTANATE OF EGYPT
ALLAH’S CHOSEN
Alhamdulillah! The British Empire, if it can even be called that, had failed to keep it’s terrible grip over the dedicated people of Egypt. With the Empire busy dealing with the multitude of other threats, closer to home, the Egyptians, hardened by the horrors of the first World War, were quick to adapt and take advantage. A widespread revolt, bolstered by modernized Egyptian soldiers, and a mix of civilian guerilla warfare, forced the British out of home territory. Soon after, soldiers take to the streets calling the name of the Sultan: Fuad the First. Not all is well within Allah’s domain, however! It would take a fool to think that the British, would lie like they dogs they are. No, the revolution may have been over, but war has just begun!
WORD OF THE SULTAN
The battle for independence had been hard and well fought, for the burgeoning nation. But they were not to rest on their laurels. While the streets of Cairo were draped with the red flags of the Sultanate, and the air filled with the name of Fuad, the Sultan and his advisers were hard at work within the recaptured palace. Independence did not come without it’s detriments; their army needed to be strengthened, and their economy needed to flourish in order to stand a chance against the British and leave their mark in the history books. In conjunction with this, the Sultanate needed to contact its close neighbors: The Ottomans and Italian occupied Libya.
FIST OF ALLAH
Fuad I and his advisers are quick to realize that a Navy, competent enough to hold the waters of Egypt and exert their force. However, their army required innovations and manpower to hold both against a naval invasion from the Mediterranean, and down in the south, where the British still held colonies in Africa. Therefore, the Sultan declared that an emphasis would be put on the production of submarines and battleships, in the hopes to hold the coast and protect their ports. Machineguns would also be placed on the production line. In order to speed up the process before an imminent invasion, the Sultanate forcefully converts a large amount of Egyptian civilian factories to serve in creation of military equipment.
Along Egypt’s southern border, a series of trenches would be worked on, planned to stretch from the border of Libya until the Red Sea. Pillboxes, bunkers, and watch towers, were to also be set up. The same would be done on Egypt’s coast of the Mediterranean. To facilitate this, the government would pay any and all who would work on the defenses of Egypt, although minimally. It would be the use of fear, and anti-British propaganda, that the Sultan hoped would get the large project underway. Troops would be organized both on the Mediterranean coast and Egypt’s southern border, with a sizable left in reserve within Egypt.
Cradle of Civilization
With the Egyptian economy finally belonging to the Egyptians, there was much work to be done in these trying times. The Sultan believed personally, that if the Sultanate were to survive and carry out Allah’s will, they would need the means to do so. This means, would not only be in the form of arms, but rather in money. The government heavily invests in Egyptian oil, in order to fund later campaigns and endeavors.
The Sultan also establishes a Council of Islam (COI) and Council of Enlightenment (COE), which would both be heavily entwined. The COI would see to the religious matters of the state, and the COE would produce propaganda while also investigating dissenters within the Sultanate. Commissioned from them, would be the job to encourage young men to serve Egypt in the name of the Sultan and Allah. It would also to instill fear of the British within the citizenry, to further encourage even civilians to work.
The Prophet’s Words
A telegram would be sent to the leader of Italy, regarding Libya:
”The Sultanate of Egypt is anticipating an attack by the British, and we humbly request that you see to it that your territory within Libya does not be tread upon. Ages ago, the Romans and Egyptians held eachother in high regard; here is to hoping that will happen again, without the Anglo barbarians.
In the same fashion, another telegram would be sent to the Emperor of the Ottoman Empire:
”My brother of Islam. We may have had our differences in the past, but with our newfound freedom we wish to amend that and form a pact of brothers, brothers within Allah’s embrace and grasp. And, it is as a brother, that the Sultanate warns you of the British Imperialists, a direct threat to your own. They seek to take back the Islamic land of Egypt, and soon, you. We hope you respond wisely.”
Furthermore, the Sultanate wishes to make it known to the rest of the world:
”With sovereignty comes national freedom. We, the prestigious Sultanate of Egypt, are happy to announce that we are open to trade resources in exchange for military equipment.”
Fuad sighs! “Speaking to these infidels! Pthu!” He spat on the ground after making the orders.
