The Bard's guide

 

 

You may have seen them, people with books full of songs and emoting

a violin or singing sweet tones. But how does one be a bard? How can

you be the entertainer of the city without clouding the whole

chat with one liners of a song?

 

Hopefully with this guide, the club can't handle you.

 

 

 

 

Indentifying yourself

 

As bard you first should consider what your Bard  would be.

Will your Bard make elegant background music, or play the hardest jams while

dancing drunken on tables? The personality of a bard is importnant, as you will be seen

in front of people, you will be the one making the music people will listen to. Not to forget,

as Bard you want to make fun roleplay for you and others.

 

As a start, what instrument will your bard play? It must be something that you can carry,

pity for the piano talents, but necessary for the RP. Often instruments show your

personality, I like playing Violin because.. I charish my elegance. Something like

that should be considered, but contra-roleplay can raise eyebrows as it isn't "normal", but fun.

A wealthy noble bard playing his flute while sipping into ale as the whole tavern dances, that is

fun RP. As a Bard you can make such!

 

 

 

Roleplaying a bard

 

A pity you can't literally sing in Minecraft, but several emotes can already do the trick

in RP. Don't fool yourself by thinking that saying the whole songtext of a song would be fun,

as you may not forget that you would be clouding the chat with alot of sentences.

*Starts playing the fine tunes on his flute, releasing its melodies through the room.

*starts singing with her sweet voice, making the room feel rather warm

The RP is certainly better in game, but as you might see. Version 2 is more informative, yet smaller and acceptable in its size. You won't spam the whole chat, while still giving the idea that you

are singing like an angel. While you are singing and playing your instrument, you can

always add some dance moves to thicken the Bard RP.

 

The insecure part of roleplaying a Bard is that the reaction fully depends on the public, you can emote that you sing amazing, but there might be someone who will just boo you out. Though, that might be RP or a childish troll, as a Bard you will need to learn how to handle that in your own way,

 

The arts of a Bard

 

The Bard is a musical & poetric genius ( If not, you would probably be attacked ). As a Bard you

can have one privilige which you might find delightful, or really hate. As a Bard you can write your

own poems and songs, and present them to the public! Some Bard friends of mine have written very genius songs, you can too! Poems and songs are amazing, and you would be one of the few "living" culture in LotC. Be creative,  sing an orcen bed time story! Dwarven working song, or an elven poem. It is really up to you, and with some creativity and dedication you would have alot of possibilities.

 

Bards and community

 

Now that you hopefully know how to become and be a Bard, the final thing to look out for is the community. As stated before, the community might react negative on you, but Bards are very unique and almost never similliar. The problem which you might experience is, how can you earn money wilst being a Bard?

 

Finding work

 

As a Bard you might want to look around guilds, houses or groups who want some music or poetry RP. Offer yourself on the forums, or even better; Find people in settlements or camps! Some people might even pay you! Beware when you join a group though, as Bard you will attract alot of attention when roleplaying. Doing such in an assasination group might be a bit.. unpractical. Present yourself in towns, get your Bard reputation up a bit, and go look for work as one! There are enough groups being nomands in the north, or patrolling in the south, join them for adventure and Minas!

 

Being a band.

 

Sometimes, Bards were in groups. Each playing one instrument and making a more

complicated, yet delightful song to the public. It is easy getting multiple Bards in one band, but the

roleplay might be a little.. complicated.

 

You see, as a band you need to be coördinated. You need to know that

when Edmure finishes his violin that Emily starts to sing, not the other way around.

As a band it is almost essential that you use the version 2 RP, because multiple people

using loads of emotes and text is going to make the chat go very.. dark..

It is possible and fun, but prepare your act and know your songs!

 

Using existing songs

 

Sometimes, you like being Bard but you just fail at writing songs.

No problem though! As long as you know which songs

are simply possible to play as Bard , you can sing or

copy them with your version and instruments.

 

Here are suitable songs to Sing/Play as bard:

 

 

 

 

 

Why?

 

These are more to the old medieval side then the famous Dubstep PC songs, more based on

voice and instruments. The song text may be too modern, but can be sang in LotC without

people asking what "BMW x10 with ******* Booty shakin' " is.

The songs above may not be played like that, but the text of some may be re used and made into

a suitable medieval song. I don't think DEV would sue you because you sing their song in LotC with different sentences.

Owning a war-lute is what some people might call e-d-g-y.

 

While most Bards are Bards to make music.. I guess yours is a possible version too..

Its Imagenery, you can't get a violin nor flute in LotC, you can improvise with normal items though.

Yeah, you have to just roleplay them. Use, like, a stick for a flute or guitar, and maybe a block of wool for an accordion.

Actually, I once bought a violin from someone. He made it right in front of me. It was a shovel renamed :)
