[Closed] Community Feedback Survey #4

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello all! Welcome back to the LotC Community Surveys! We’re once again late, but all well. You may notice we now have a new forum section. This forum section will hold staff reports (you'll know more about these soon.) and these surveys! More information on this forum may or may not come soon. ;)

This go around, we have two surveys. We have one survey from Lego XBOX (the MT), and the other is from myself. Lego XBOX’s survey is more focused on RP happenings over time, whereas mine is more centered around OOC.

With the help of the LOTC-BC report, I’m hoping both of these surveys do well, as they can both be very informational. If you don’t have time to do both, feel free to do one and come back to it. It’s understandable. You probably will have to devote sometime time to this if you want to do this to its fullest. The survey will be up for about a week, so don’t rush through it.

As usual, the results will be fully posted in, as stated above, about a week. And of course, this survey is anonymous. There is no section for you to put your MC name, and there is no other way for anyone to find out who you are. However, as usual, this doesn’t mean that you can troll until your heart’s desire. If that happens, these won’t be made anymore, and the community will lose the privilege to submit anonymous feedback to the staff. I don’t want that to happen.

So without further ado, here are the surveys:

-~- Lego XBOX’s Past-Present-Future Survey -~-

-~- My (SparehoeCakes) OOC Survey -~-

Good job sparrow thanks a lot. Lego's survey had a little bit of bias in the questions but overall it was good too.

Pardon? My survey biased? Hah. It may actually be that from your perspective it seems biased because you can't look at it objectively?

I would like to have some proof to these claims, and furthermore, the point of the survey is to look over every issue and propose all solutions and not only the ones mentioned commonly.

Just because I give the possibility for people to express their dislike for what you propose doesn't mean I'm biased, because I give the exact same possibility to do the contrary!

No need to get defensive, I said a little bias, chill. It's perfectly natural, everybody's biased.

A more prudent question would have been "Which method of combat do you prefer for a default combat system?" or something. More people are likely to select RP combat, as I did, because this is a roleplay server and such. Yet, this is obviously pertaining to the ongoing RP/PvP default debate, and PvP default is generally the preferred default combat system - even if those who support PvP default enjoy RP fights more.

"Simple" implies basic and underdeveloped, whilst "Long" only pertains to length. Perhaps change it to "Shortened MA Format".

The Undead was exclusively player directed for a while, arguably at their peak, and was staff directed after a few months. The Black Scourge is staff directed as well as player directed. I'd suggest removing the (player directed) and (staff directed).

'Black Scourge' are FAR more staff-directed than Undead ever were. The only staff that Undead ever had were players that just became GMs on merit. Undead was solely a player faction so yeah the survey is a bit wrong/biased in that respect.

Gronkk, not bursting your bubble.
"Most people who support PVP default enjoy RP Fights" Defeats the purpose. That means a majority rather RP fighting even if they concede to PVP-Fighting.  Flawed logic. I agree with you, but please take that into account. Even if some concede that PVP fighting is needed, that still means they prefer RP fighting.

Erm, I'm not entirely sure what your argument is, but it seems like you're saying that even if players are willing to concede to PVP fighting, that by preferring to RP fight means they think RP default is better. I'm not positive that's what you're saying, but if that is the case, it's simply not true. I prefer RP fighting, but prefer PVP default, as do a lot of the supporters of PVP default.

The current magic application format is as reduced as it can possibly be, making it simple, as you defined. Long is what the old one was, maybe even complex. These are but language quirks.

I'd say your language is more likely to elicit one response than the other, because the two words you used describe different things. It may seem small, but generally when conducting a survey, wording is given a very heavy focus. Technically, it would be considered a biased question more likely than not, even if it was not intentional.

If it pleases you, I shall change this to, 'Simple and Short' and 'Complex and Long'.
