This honestly, make me alittle upset, maybe its because i just got a MA accepted, and i went though a ton of work to get it. But i see that ALOT of people are going to abuse this new system and i feel, even if some people see it as annoying or wasteful, the App is genuis, it stops people from powergaming and abusing the system, i feel everyone is going to make a character now "Im 50 and ive been learning magic for years" it will be quite hard for people who legit earned and reseached magic... i feel even thou i only had magic for a few days, that this is going to hurt alot of people.

That sounds very awesome, I hope you develop something like this :)

ANTHOS PREPARE YOURSELF! FOR SOME BADASS MAGIC RP!

The definition of screwing over in this context is. Everyone has access to terrifyingly powerful magics now, with no regulation to make them learn what the hell they are attempting. I believe the only problem with the magic system was the mages hoarding magic and not being willing to teach those who have the ability to understand its gravity in RP. This response is the mountain compared to the mole mill.

That is the thing. It doesn't effect PvP so the "OP" magic is simply OP were people want it to be and are enjoying the roleplay. Isn't that the goal of the server simply to enjoy roleplay? No hoarding, no elitism  just roleplay.

Those against this, it's worth a shot. If it fails, we can always bring back the MA.

And what, grandfather anyone who has magic during this period into thier desired tiers? That is already a bad idea to begin with.

Tiers are out of the picture, though. You are a T5 and T1 simultaneously because everything was flatlined to be the PvP equal of anybody else.

Mages are being "stomped into the ground" for suddenly being on equal terms with everyone else on the server? Is this not the exact elitist attitude that we're trying to get rid of in changing to this new system?

Nothing is preventing you from using your awesome magic in awesome ways outside of combat. A powerful druid can still grow a forest on a whim, a shaman can still maintain a connection to the spirits, and a beard mage can still grow out the most interesting beard in the world with a thought. This system merely removes any advantages a mage has over others in combat itself. The lack of restrictions that go along with that are merely there because little else is restricted on the server. If learning magic is restricted, why isn't learning swordsmanship? Archery? Blacksmithing?

Forcing magic to be learned legitimately through a method overseen by a team is what forced new players looking for magic to leave, as they had no way of learning it without staying for extended periods of time, something not everyone can do, and this contributes to our 10% new player retention rate.

By you saying that EVERY mage is being hurt because of us balancing combat between mages and non-mages, you have only reinforced my personal belief that this change was incredibly needed.

No. I don't care about not having an advantage over swordmans. I care about providing roleplay.

Imagine being attacked by bandits, or guards, or idiot edgies. It's not about winning anymore, it's that providing roleplay is taken away from me when I'm being clicked in the face. And my character gets attacked every day when she has done nothing to deserve the attacks. What do I do in this situation? Nothing.

I like how almost every magic user is Q.Qing. Give it a try before jumping to conclusions, just like with PVP default.

Like.... what the hell are you guys thinking. This will completely screw over any magic user, at all.

Why what nonsense Vice!  If anything it helps magic users.  Put it this way.  A magic user can continue learning magic as they currently were, or if that's not their cup of tea they can change the way they learn to anything that suits them.  If they don't like the change, they can continue learning the same.

We really need your positive attitude and commitment to this change guys, we're all responsible for bettering LoTC and so inspiring others to try out this change is for the better.

Honestly, I think this is a terrible move. But we'll see how it goes, I guess.

I think magic is better as something reserved for the people patient enough to learn it, that way it has much more mystery and intrigue, that's why I at least found it appealing to seek, since it's so exclusive. Making it available to everyone on a whim just kinda' feels... Meh.

And this is coming from someone who has been pursuing magic for awhile. I 'dunno, maybe I'm just annoyed all that time I spent searching for magic now means practically means nothing, when some random guy can claim he has also been trying to obtain magic for a long period of time, even though that is not really the case.

Picture this, Regular Illusionist Joe is walking down the road and is confronted by three bandits.

Regular Illusionist Joe proceeds to start casting a spell that will help him ESCAPE AND RUN, i.e a big flash of light or invisibility.

The Bandits immediately scream PVP DEFAULT and cut down Regular illusionist Joe who is helpless to their whims, because he must PVP. Reducing any magic that may have helped him escape into either clicking, or running MCly.

Additionally hasn't a magic plugin been COMING SOON for about a year and a half, now?

I see /a lot/ of people saying that all mages are complaining, and simply laughing about it.

Though, isn't this a portion of the server which feels like they are being screwed over?

That's a very disgusting thing to see.

Why don't we remove VATs while we are at it?

the Magic users thought they were bettering LotC by shaping and going along with the status-quo system for the longest time. It is not easy to follow the endorsed routine for so long, only to have the higher-ups suddenly drop you back to nothing.

Ask their understanding, not their postivity. I would've thought a consolation price is in order, anyway.

I wasted a few months of my life for this!? (sarcasm)

but really, I like the changes a lot, I assume there will be a few more mages running about before it will die down though, which I'm fine with, da more mojo, da better.
