[Ooc] Adunian Clarifications

 Share

Recommended Posts

Im currently in the process of rewriting all of the Adunian lore to give people a broader idea of what the subrace really is, rather than the mess that it's currently displayed to the community as. Recently, however, I have been seeing massive amounts of feedback on things Adunians need to change, and I need to let both the misguided Adunian players and the community know the truth to these things. These things that need to change are mainly things that were never supposed to be there and never should of existed in the first place, so Im just going to state the three most important clarifications that people need to understand.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1: The google translate issue.

This whole load of crap where Adunians google translate everything they say into Irish and claim it to be the "Adunian Language" is nothing but bullsh*t. An Adunian language /is/ mentioned in an older version of the lore that sadly has been archived on the forums. The section on it stated that way back in Aegis when the Adunians lived on Al'Ildic they spoke their own tongue, but some time after they opened trade with Northern Aegis this language slowly died out and was lost to the pages of history. Only certain words used for naming places or things ended up being remembered (an example being "ildon" which meant "haven"). Because of this, no official Adunian language was ever written out OOCly and it is supposed to be RPed as /lost/, therefore no one should be needing to use it anyway. Using google translate to "speak Adunian" or  for that matter any sort of "speaking Adunian" in character is breaking lore and should /not/ be condoned by members of the Adunian community or the server's community as a whole. Please stop it. Now.

#2: The Scottish/Braveheart influence.

If one were to read the Adunian lore currently available here they would find that once in Adunian history, there were Scottish/Celtic influences. However, these influences have since died out as they were used over a /thousand/ IC years ago. Such influences would be seen an primitive and outdated to any modern Adunian, and it makes absolutely no RP sense that they have returned now on an even larger scale than they were at before. Please Adunians, stop RPing this way, it's not how your characters are meant to be. It's alright to RP some minor things that may be Scottish related, such as giving your character an accent, but currently you're going overboard with it.

#3: Kilts/Man Skirts.

Kilts /are/ actually Adunian, though they come from this time mentioned above over a /thousand/ years ago where some Scottish influences were common throughout Adunian society. However, they are no longer viewed this way. At the end of the Second Adunian Era, kilts fell out of fashion, only to be picked up again as the garb of Adunian Holymen hundreds of years later. The Adunian Holymen then merged with the Old Faith, and kilts became the traditional garb worn by it's priests, much like how modern priests still wear robes, even though anyone else wearing them would be viewed as a bit of a wierdo (unless they were in some kind of costume). Because of this, any Adunians that are /not/ priests of the Old Faith have absolutely no reason to be wearing kilts. If an Adunian does do this, they should be viewed by others as strange and possibly mentally unstable to be walking around in such ancient and unsuitable clothing (unless it were one of the certain Adunian holidays when wearing historical clothing is acceptable).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this clears up some of the current issues people are having with understanding Adunian lore. Please be patient for me to release the full new lore post, as it is going to be a fair bit more detailed than any previous ones. And Adunians, actually listen to what Ive written here for once.

I may know the cause of this issue.

No. You're living a lie and you're not a real Adunian. Go play your pretend non-Adunian subrace somewhere else. Thankyou.

Great to know you have a fantastic sense of sarcasm, considering there was a mass amount of ones and exclamation marks...

M8, calm down. No need to be mad. I know sarcasm, but I must be ruthless in my removal of the unpure Adunians.
