[Ooc] Adunian Clarifications

Adunians should mate with dwarves and create leprechauns

I thought that was mating with halflings.

I can see a select few are pretty angry with these clarifications (surprising the same select few I expected), but I will not go back on these decisions as I am still of the belief that most players wish for Adunians to head back towards their original Dúnedain influence (that is represented in parts of the current lore, and will be expanded on in the new version), rather than to stay with the outrageous Scottish influence we've built up in my absence from the server.

I recommend those who wish to create characters with Scottish influences play half-human/half-dwarves rather than Adunians.

As a non Adunian whose watched Adunians...

Become a culture, not a subrace: It would make a lot more sense if you were just humans with a Celtic/Scottish culture. Like Raevirs with our Slavic/Germanic culture.

Remove kilts(optional): Kilts are..yeah. I remember someone mentioning Adunians wore cloaks a while back. Wear those instead?

Adunian district in Abresi/new human kingdom: Culture gang wars are fun.

No more Adunian Architecture: please. No more. I mean this more as a plea then anything. You guys don't have the best builders and we had a jolly old time tearing down the Westerlands. If you do build, get the professionals as I would like to see some well done Adunian Architecture.

Develop culture more: Like I said, become a culture, but more importantly develop what you have right now and have stricter regulations.

Just me 2 cents. :3

Even as loremaker this isn't your decision. It was a culture created IG by Adunians over a real IRL year and therefore valid.

I don't even RP a kilt-wearing Adunians anymore but still, I think you should clarify that it is not what modern Adunians are, but still alow it. Or else you should have told me this when I got the OK from you when making my Clan.

Okay, I'm looking at this thread, and I'm sorry, but I am not a happy camper right now. This entire thread, as far as I can tell, basically sums up to "You've been doing everything wrong, and we're completely normal humans with funny accents." Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you just told us that

A),We shouldn't be wearing Kilts, or have any other Scottish/Celtic influence beyond accents, and

B), We don't even have a different height, meaning that we are quite literally just plain Humans. I mean, the accent barely even factors in, and it's certainly not enough to make us a separate peoples! I, for one, am not going to make myself a Human. I played Adunians because I liked what they were in early Anthos; Angry fighting Scotsmen, not just another guild declaring themselves a nation, and so I shall keep on playing as I have been before, until somebody gives me a legitimate reason not to.

Not to stop you from roleplaying an Adunian the way that you want to, but I had roleplayed with Axl (the creator of the Adunians) since they were around in Aegis. It was Everblue and I that were roleplaying with Adunians since even before Owl had heard of them, and I will tell you that they were never Scotsmen. I was there when Axl roleplayed rediscovering his roots, and I'll tell you that the roots of the history were deeply tied to the Dunedane (lost sword, last heir of a lost bloodline, longer lived but human, etc.) Artorus himself was very much modeled off of characters such as Aragorn and Eddard Stark.

As for the Scotsmen influence, I have no idea where it came from. I let Axl settle down in my duchy and they set up Ildon, and it was very much a typical Northern influenced human settlement that one day became Scottish. So Owl is right that the Scottish thing came out of left field, but then again it might not be a totally bad thing, the Adunians were fairly vanilla culturally beforehand.

And the Adunians were really nothing more than a group that wanted to have a king for the longest time even though they really appeared out of nowhere.

This man knows his sh*t. Adunians existed for a few months before I became one (I was the third, after Axl himself and then martinvilla822) and as Zeb said, they were based off the Starks and Dunedane, not Scotts (although I will say, before I came along we only had some very sketchy unwritten lore). As Han said...

I was the guy who turned everything Celtic.

Really, everyone needs to stop freaking out that Adunians are "losing their identity" and "shouldnt be a subrace anymore", because we were a subrace long before this whole Scottish-rip-off charade took over who we were. If you only joined the Adunians for their Scottish-ness, a half dwarf would be a better choice of race for you.

[4:15:28 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): We have our own subrace
[4:15:32 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): Because we have our own lore
[4:15:35 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): Our own culture
[4:15:39 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): And our own history
[4:15:56 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): You people need to see that our entire identity wasnt a rip-off Scottish history
[4:16:02 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): There's a lot more to Adunians than that
[4:16:58 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): These lore implementations (rather confirmations) were put in place because our entire identity was taken away by those who turned us into a Scottish history rip-off joke
[4:17:09 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): So now
[4:17:20 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): We can focus on the things that really make Adunians who they are
[4:17:29 PM] Hamish MacDonald (Owl): Rather than all the made up crap that has started to define us

I personally think you all need to calm down and let the Adunians handle it on their own in-game. This thread and the posts upon it have utterly no use for anyone. If anyone wants to try influencing Adunia, they should do so in-game, and everyone who is not Adunian, or who does not play an Adunian character, or who does not play a character who participates in Adunian culture, should stop trying to fill their own sausage, and go back to their own ****.

It is really distasteful to see people who are either completely unrelated or whom have had no recent interest in the Adunians in the first place to attempt to tell them how to do their stuff. Let them build how they feel they should build. Let them talk how they want to talk. Let them wear what they want to wear, and let them do what they feel they need to do in-character.

Who gives a damn if Adunians were not always Celtic? Who gives a damn who created them? This is where they ended up, and now they need to pick up and figure out what they do next.

Rant end.

I agree with this. Despite what they were intended to be like, you can't retconn months of roleplay without doing it in character. So Owl, if you want to change the Adunians your best bet is to get a band of billy club wielding traditionalists to deal with the Celts.

Okay, I'll bite. You're saying that we should basically completely remove all trace of what we have been doing, and go back to "Our Roots." What are our roots? You say it's Dunadain, but what does that even mean? What will we have if we do what you say? We'll lose every bit of our current identity, and gain... What? What exactly? Why would we want do do all this work, just to make ourselves normal Humans? I still haven't seen you telling us what we SHOULD be like, only what we shouldn't be like.

I don't think there's enough playerbase for that. If other people want to do that, I guess it could work, but Adunia is already inactive as hell, I have to tell people to get on on the skype chat to get any RP

I don't think you understand, mate. We've already lost our identity /because/ of all this Scottish stuff. Im trying to get it back and the majority of people /want/ it back. Just because we're removing the Adunia /you/ know doesn't mean we're somehow becoming "normal humans". We weren't normal humans before all this Scottish crap, and we wont be after.

Why not seperate it into two groups

Adunian cloak-wearers

Indunian kilt-wearers

Tried something like this before, didn't work. Though I'm beginning to think I might have to try again. In reality though, there's only about four people that are really against these changes.
