An Idea For The Justice System

Aurelius approaches the royal keep, it is 3am and he has nothing better to do.

He approaches the king in his throne and begins to talk;

"Too long has Abresi been known for murder and corruption,

killings in the streets pave our roads with blood and death.

Justification is in order. We need to end this my king"

He kneels as the king looks down at him

"I suggest a court system, a way of prosecuting the guilty, and preserving the innocent.

A court in the town hall is deserted. We should use this area to allow criminals to plead.

A fair trial system will show the masses that you can show mercy"

Aurelius gulps in air as he continues his speech

"I believe that a criminal held in a cell for a sentence is a waste of time and resources,

investing criminals in manual labour or community service is a great way to rehabilitate as well as punishing criminals. The demolition of Caven is under way. Why not send criminals there to live

out there sentence by helping in the demolition?"

He stands up and looks out the window, lighting a pipe and beginning to smoke it.

"I firmly believe that with time and effort we could get something like this to work.

Evidently it would need planning and commitment, I am willing to dedicate

time and effort to this project if it were to exist, I just need to hear  your view my king?"

Aurelius nods and waits for the kings response.

Tiberius fixates his eyes on Aurelius as he speaks, most of what he says is known to be Elven propaganda, and nothing more. Tiberius takes a step forward and opens his mouth for a brief moment only to be restrained by Abner and a few other members of the Decterum. Tiberius sighs after Aurelius is done speaking, what he suggests is already an idea which is applied in Abresi. He thinks to himself, "Oh...Um, the guards are meant to do this for the most part. The Imperial army I mean, how much of an Elf could I be?" Tiberius slaps himself, a few people in the Royal Keep stare at him in awe as what he did was not ordinary. Tiberius continues to talk to himself, "We don't even have criminals which we hold in cells unless they're high profile. Most just are killed or fined. Lets be frank here, everything he's suggesting is Elven propaganda and it sickens me that a comrade, a close friend even would say such a thing."   ((THIS ISNT BEING SAID OUT LOUD))

Tiberius breaks free from Abner and the other Decterum soldiers and starts to shout, "Shut up! Shut up! What you're saying is fl-" The soldiers restrain him again and force him back to his seat, his yelling is now muffled.

Aurelius looks over at the struggling Tiberius

"I stand un-corrected, if we have an attitude like this then

how are we ever going to break free from

this barbaric murderous system. You tell me to shut up?

We accept the murder and stand by watching because

people like you and your Flay ancestry murdered people

who spoke out against the murderers.

Aurelius then goes back to the window and begins to smoke again

Tiberius bites Abner's hand and breaks free for long enough to say what he wants to say.

"MALINOR IS RIDDLED WITH CORRUPTION, INSTABILITY, BAD LEADERSHIP, AND MANY MORE PROBLEMS. OREN WILL NEVER DEGRADE ITSELF TO SUCH A LOW STANDARD!"

Tiberius is subdued again by the very strong Abner.

Looks over to Abner and Tiberius once again, rolling his eyes and pointing to the door

"Will you please remove Tiberius Abner?"

Edward had only today suggested a new court to handle noble disputes, and would support a court to hear criminal complaints as well, though he is not present for the man's speech.

((I think a functioning court system not only serves to alleviate some of the petty burdens from the King, but also creates cool legal RP and forces an appreciation of the laws and histories which form our kingdom.

However, I'm not sure how far I'd venture into the realm of rehabilitation instead of punishment, simply because the nature of the server is not conducive to long public-service sentences, and wrong-doers wouldn't learn effectively from the punishments. I think tangibles like fines and executions with pre-existing PK citizenship oaths is the best way to handle punishments. Those who commit more minor crimes or those who are unable to meet fines could be forced into state-labour, I suppose, though the execution of tasks would need to be near immediate.))

((That's the bit I'm primarily responding to.))
