What Is A Raid?

A raid consists of a group going to a settlement, structure, or area owned by someone else, with the intent to steal, cause chaos, attack, or do damage to the objects or people within this area. Raids are not scheduled beforehand between the leader of the area and the opposing group. A consented attack (ie organised prior between the attackers and defenders) is NOT a raid and thus does not need to abide by the following restrictions.

What Are The Rules Regarding Raids?

  • A settlement can only be raided once per day by anybody. For example, if Vekaro was to be raided by Kal'Arkon, that would be it for that day. No more raids on Vekar

  • There is no limit on raiding size. Players can raid with any number of players. (5 or 50, it doesn't matter).

  • The minimum number of players present for an attack to be considered a raid is 3 individuals.

  • A raiding party may not employ the use of siege weapons (battering rams, catapaults etc) during raids.

  • Placing blocks, such as ladders, is allowed if the region allows it. You are not allowed to grief a wall in order to place the ladders or gain access to an area. Normal server rules still stand when it comes to placing blocks and raiding. (1x1 towers, block jumping, planting a tree, griefing ect.)

  • Following the mechanical standard, a general rule in place is that if you can't do it mechanically, then you can't do it RPly. For example if you can’t get over a wall, then you cannot simply RP using a grappling hook and then ask a GM to teleport you over.

  • Additionally, if players try and exploit loopholes in the system, this will count as breaking the rules.

Though not an enforced rule but rather just a guideline, it is encouraged that the owner of the area, settlement or structure that is being raided be online to assist in creating a proper roleplay environment within the raiding event.

What Is A Skirmish?

A Skirmish is a battle between two opposing factions, guilds, groups, or kingdoms agreed upon beforehand between the leaders of each opposing side, usually for a political reason.  Skirmishes are scheduled on a date agreed upon between the leaders of both sides.

What Are the Rules Regarding Skirmishes?

  • Leaders of both sides must agree beforehand on the skirmish for it not to be considered a raid, including a time, location, and area if necessary. If permission is not granted, the skirmish will be considered a raid and thus raid rules will apply.

  • Skirmishes usually have set terms and rules decided upon beforehand by each side, terms that must be followed by all individuals within and during the battle. These terms usually detail the use of potions, brews, and/or siege weapons. They are not required for a skirmish to occur.

  • There is not a set limit of people who can be in a skirmish, unless a limit is set beforehand by both sides.

  • Skirmish parties are not required to adhere to the time cap preventing raids from occurring too often, as a skirmish is agreed upon.

    • Example for clarification: If a settlement was raided a day before a skirmish is scheduled to occur there, the skirmish can still continue despite the fact that a settlement can not be raided more than once every two days.

Random Clarifications:

  • Regardless of the terms of ANY form of war agreed upon by both sides, server rules MUST be adhered to. For instance, even if the terms of a skirmish say that players may return to the battle after they die, they can not because the server rules prevent them from doing so.

  • PvP Zones (areas associated with a war or skirmish where, within the defined boundaries, one can be no-RP killed at any time) are disallowed. They break server rules by merely existing, and they alone have contributed to a large number of complaints, ban reports and drama. The exception to this is between the specified times that a war or skirmish is scheduled to occur.

Why no PvP zones? If two kingdoms, that share borders, shouldn't there be an area where a constant fight is going on? I see no problem with it as long as the area doesn't block RP. But, hey if that's what you've decided I'll follow it.

Because people not involved with the war or skirmish that have no idea of the PvP zone's existence accidentally wander into it and get no-RP killed, which leads to ban reports and drama. Not everyone lives on the forums and knows of these wars and skirmishes that are in effect, and PvP zones are never clearly marked which leads to the aforementioned issues.

Excellent, might just mean we won't need to use the /nodrop after all!

I'll go re-evaluate. ^-^
