Your View: Suggestions For Updated Donor Perks

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone :)

For the past few weeks, I and the members of the Staff have been working on completely overhauling the VIP perks. As many would agree, the current perks are rather outdated and some of them don't even work anymore or are incredibly trivial. For this reason, we've taken the time to buff them and even introduce many new, awesome perks (as well as return old popular ones!) that will definitely be more well liked and useful than what we see presently. Although I will not expand on the details in order to a) prevent false hope in case we change things around more, and b) ruin the surprise and hype when they are officially released, I still need some assistance from you guys with working out the kinks.

Our philosophy for this new perk system revolves around what I've coined as "Key Perks". Essentially, a Key Perk is the main perk relating to a specific VIP tier (Iron, Gold, Bedrock, etc.) that both acts as the most useful perk of the tier as well as the primary incentive to donate for that VIP level. For instance, the Key Perk for Iron is LWC, while the Key Perk for Gold is Shops. Before this update, the only tiers that actually had a Key Perk were Iron and Gold (and Diamond back when there were VIP plots) while every other tier instead involved a lot of smaller and minor perks, something that was and is still a huge issue. We hope to finalize the system with each tier having its own Key Perk as well as a few smaller perks to spice the donation up a little more!

We have since provided every single tier with a Key Perk EXCEPT for Aether, and that's where you guys come in. As of now, the ONLY difference between Aether and Ender aside from tiered perks (Perks that exist at many levels, but where you get more from it at a higher tier, such as Forum Inbox maximum) is the Custom Tag, as the Forum++ perk in the update will be combined with Forum+ for Diamond since it's relatively useless. Obviously this isn't even close to being worth the $200 difference between Aether and Ender, and we've struggled with coming up with things to give to Aether that would make its value more appropriate. Some of our better ideas are being reserved for the Nether VIP tier (yes, we haven't forgotten about that) that we mentioned a little less than a month ago, which leaves us in between a hard place in a rock. Thus, I'm creating this thread to open the pool of suggestions to a much larger crowd of bright minds that could help us with discovering the perfect perks and thus finalizing this update, as the sooner it is done the sooner we can release them officially!

All in all, here is what we need to finish:

Iron VIP: 1 medium perk (not trivial or minor, but not a Key Perk either) OR 2 small perks

Diamond VIP: 1 small perk

Aether VIP: 1 Key Perk + 1-2 medium perks OR 1 Key Perk + 2-3 small perks

Examples of different perks:

Key Perk: LWC, Shops, NPCs, etc.

Medium Perk: Donor's Den, Custom Tag, Forum+ (Updated version, which is Forum+ and Forum++), etc.

Small Perk: Minas, VIP Access, TS Channel, etc.

So please, get to suggesting ideas and perks for us! What would you like to see as a perk for a specific VIP level? What would make you willing to donate for that tier? Although I know it can't be prevented, try to keep an open mind and suggest perks that would actually fit with the tier, rather than being biased/selfish and suggesting perks for your own tier that don't fit in, or perhaps suggesting perks that are extremely crazy, impossible or easily abusable. Keep in mind that we will not necessarily acknowledge every idea that is mentioned, which could perhaps be due to the fact that someone else already mentioned the idea before, the perk is already in use in the update and we don't want to make that known, or maybe we're even considering your idea! Of course there's also the possibility that we could just have accidentally missed your idea in the swarm of replies, or it didn't contain anything that necessarily warranted a reply.

Thanks guys, and hopefully we can get this done as quickly as possible!

So let me get this straight, Gold VIP gets shops..but doesn't get LWC and Iron gets LWC but not shops?

I'm not sure what to suggest as the examples are kinda confusing.

No, Key Perks are merely perks introduced at that level for the first time, higher tiers still have it. So Iron is the first to get LWC, but they don't have Shops which are introduced at Gold, while Gold has both perks. :)

OOOOOOOOH Oh that sounds much much better. So basically you just want us to suggest new perks? Kay I got one, Ability to name items and add descriptions, Gold and Up, and add that stamp thing to, like with ale.

Uh, no. When you buy Gold you're also getting the perks of everything under it.

Teli discussed having a bound item for your player so you have key things after you die. An obvious one is more bind slots.

And land plots, but not in the way it used to be. For Diamond or something you have 30x30 plot that you can have secured. So you set yourself up with a place in the open build area and if you're a high enough donator you can have it protected.

And whatever the new status will be on testificates. The ability to place one with your own custom message/s.

I have to agree with Lark here, it would be great and cut down on /tons/ of modreqs if we were able to rename our own items. Of course it'd have to be moderated in the way he suggested.

As for my own ideas, all I really want to see is a larger buddylist for VIP's.

Make shops for iron VIP

I think making it any higher is just limiting the sales of stuff, especially for the new crafting stuff coming

Iron VIP: Get diamond shoes.  (Oh yeah)

Diamond VIP: Allow to create cages and carry animals around to sell or move animals.  Like a pokeball.  Or have different animals follow them as pets like cows.

Aether VIP:  I urge that Aether should be able to make minor regions for homes and personal areas.  They will be limited the amount of area and maybe three available regions.

I would like to see plots returning and minas for each donation level. The idea of NPCs returning after the invasion of them during 2.0 might not be such a good idea. The novelty of having one around is pretty nifty but that wears out very fast when you have constant chat spam and the same "Shop Keeper John" watching you with those vacant, eerie eyes and the same three recycled catchphrases.

A quick one regarding a mina perk:

It has its pros and cons, really. Like the other perks, some people would naturally complain that it gives donators an unfair advantage; so be it. However, financially, having a mina donation perk will more than likely convince a greater sum of RPers to donate. I'm not the guy funding the server or taking home any left over revenue but from one guy to another... it'll fill your pockets. With an arguably iffy economy, giving this monetary perk to the higher donators can also have a positive effect on the economy with more minas in flotation which will mean more trade. But how will this make sense in roleplay, some may ask. It doesn't. Many things don't make total sense in roleplay but if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, I see no problem with it.

Just my view anyway.

Iron Vip

Shops (This will be necessary if we want Nexus-Core to work, it's going to be needed much more than it is now)

LWC

+1 soulstone bind (be able to have 3 total)

Forum thingies

Appropriate server tag

IDEA limit character cards so people can't have so many damn characters and +1 every donation level or something, also helps RP

Gold VIP

NPCs

Naming/Describing Items OR 20x20 Plot (small enough for you to put up a shop which would be a donator perk for Iron, basically so that the Perks build off of each other a little more)

Maybe have somebody do character art or something?

Minas - 5,000 - 10,000 (This really isn't much, not enough to give real advantage)

Everything in Iron

Diamond VIP

50x50 Plot

First choice when something needs to be tested (ie. New Plugin, New Map)

X amount of skill points toward a profession? (Just thought of this, maybe give smaller amounts for Gold, Iron, etc.)

Everything in Gold/Iron

Allow me to make more shops than three (as in shopchests) and I am satisified in that aspect.

NPCs are already on the server and, as far as I can tell, do not cause the issues that were the result of the last NPC plugin we had. They don't speak until you click on them, which means chat spam doesn't happen, nor do NPCs look at you unless you're like 3-5 blocks away (not sure the exact number) so if you're for some odd reason creeped out by that it still shouldn't be too much of a bother. I suggest checking it out in game if you haven't already and seeing how much you like or dislike them, as it's certainly worth seeing for yourself! ^^
