A messenger arrives in the city of Abresi bearing a letter addressed to the King of Oren. Upon being allowed in, the messenger quickly delivers the letter and then hurries off. The letter itself is sealed with the mark of the bear, and contains an invitation.

To the King of Oren, Heinrick Carrion, and those of his choosing.

The Dwarves of Urguan offer an interest in continued negotiation regarding the Dwarf-Human war, and so invite you to join them in council at the Cloud Temple. This meeting will bring with it a cease fire from both parties until the end of the meeting itself. We ask that no armies are brought, only counselors to discuss the terms of a truce between Urguan and Oren. The meeting will be mediated by Lord Kayrin Earendil of Anadune.

There will be a list given to the door guards of who shall be allowed in, so we ask that His Majesty respond with a list of those whom he wishes to be in attendance.

Many Respects,

Lord Kayrin Earendil

((This will be a forum rp post to make it easier for everyone to participate. Note that I will speak to the FMs directly and ask this post be heavily moderated. If you are not on the list, your post will be removed. Try to keep everything rp because we don't want to have any OOC issues. We're all friends offline, right? ))

A simple paper is returned holding the terms Oren is offering.

I. A line will be drawn at the current territorial borders established throughout the war. Raddusch. south Kaedrin and Brom'Krah will remain Orenian, but no further territories will be taken.

II. All allegiances with the Dread Lord Setherian are to be cast aside by the sons of Urguan. Fighting alongside the spawn of iblees against the mortal races is harmful to diplomatic relations and the peace of Anthos.

III. The dwarven lords whose manipulation of their monarch is considered incendiary will be put on trial by the combined justices of the United Anthos Coalition for their crimes committed against the realm of Anthos by allying themselves with servants of Setherian.

IV. Any dwarven lords tried and sentenced will be executed or stripped of their titles and prestiges as seen fit by the court. Deliberation amongst dwarfkind will be permitted to allow the sons of Urguan to choose replacement for those leaders who were removed. Human intervention will not occur.

V. Fair trial of the dwarven lord Igor Ireheart in the court of Abresi for his crimes committed within and against the Kingdom of Oren.

VI. Immediate deimperialization of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. The prefix of Grand is to be removed from all legal documents as punishment for the great dishonor the lords of Urguan cast upon their race in allying with the servants of Setherian.

VII. 60k minas in reparations for the damages incurred by the Kingdom of Oren.

VIII. Gradual halt of all hostilities between the Kingdoms, and implementation of peaceful commerce and travel between the Kingdom of Oren and the Kingdom of Urguan.

IX. Urguan’s assistance in fighting their former swordbrothers, the scourge of Setherian.

Gradluff continues to stick by Lord Farren.

"Are t'e 'umans are interested onleh in territorial gains, slander and mockereh? T'e dwarves will naever accept I and VI, and will naever accept t'e slander of XI on ah formal treaty. T'e King of Oren knows this. Is 'e nae interested in peace, just vengeance. When 'e's readeh t'e talk peace, nae total surrender, then t'e Dwarves will talk. If nae, then t'e dwarves will fight until all are dead or Oren is driven out of Ithrun's lands."

He proposes the following:

I. Oren forces shall withdraw from what remains of the plains north of Ithrun. The settlement of Brom'Krah will be officially ceded to the Kingdom of Oren by way of reparation and the Kingdom of Urguan will press no further claim to it.

II. The dwarven lords responsible for initiating the hostilities aiding the Oren Rebels and the dwarven lords accused of associating with the Scourge will step down and hand themselves in for trial by the Kingdom Oren under Orenian law. If they do not, The Kingdom of Oren is free to hunt them down without violating Term VI and the Kingdom of Urguan must cooperate.

III. The Court of Oren is granted the power to strip the lords tried under this treaty of rank and office. The Kingdom of Oren will not interfere in the proceedings for the appointment of their replacements.

IV. The dwarven lord Igor Ireheart (aka The Leg Butcher of Kralta) will hand himself in to the Kingdom of Oren to be tried under Orenian law. If he does not, he shall be stripped of rank and office and the forces of the Kingdom of Oren are free to hunt him without violating Term VI and the Kingdom of Urguan must cooperate.

V. 65k minas will be paid to the Kingdom of Oren in reparations.

VI. Ceasefire between Urguan and Oren. Any found in violation of this ceasefire will be handed over to the other nation for trial. If they resist they shall be stripped of rank and office by their nation.

VII. Urguan will publically denounce the Scourge, putting their allegiance to Anthos beyond all doubt.

VIII. Urguan will officially pardon all Lords of Oren accused of attacking the Coronation of Grandking Indago Stormhammer.

Wulfgar stands aside Kayrin, running his fingers through his beard as he looks down at the treaty presented. He chuckles lightly, shaking his head to the side.

"Did ah nawt say t'e Carrion King w'ould nawt seek peace? T'ere is nuh 'onour, in t'is man. 'e will push 'awn ah war, even iff it wer' tu destroy all ov Anthos. Let us 'ope t'e people ov Oren see reason n' dethrone t'is bastard befur' it t'is tu late. 'is warriors will continue to fall befur' dwarven steel until 'e sees t'e utter folly ov 'is ways. Let all ov Anthos know t'at iff 'e wished fer peace, 'e would 'ave attended t'is conference. Qoite clearleh t'en 'e dus' nawt."

Kayrin sighs, rolling up the note that was returned. He looks at Wulfgar beside him,

"Unfortunately it appears as much. He has refused to speak to me to negotiate a peace properly, and will not attend a meeting to discuss it. Oren does not seem to care much for the idea of peace. They continue to ask for too much then say terms are non-negotiable. If war is the only way they'll settle this, then I see no point in continuing peace talks."

He hesitates and looks over the terms again.

"And yet again they lay claim to Brom Krah. It was not the Chalice's to give. Brom'Krah will remain out of their hands, I insist on that."

Vectis sighs loudly at the head of his meeting room table. Sat next to him is his wife, the Duchess Northal, his Castellan, Brandon Forren, his barristers, Alexander de Stolistes and Branaford Fairheart, and his loyal warrior-chef, Cedric de la Mer. In his hands, the Duke holds the dwarven offered terms.

Aloud, he states his reasoning for discontent with the terms.

"For so long, the dwarves have labelled our great Kingdom as power hungry and blood lusting for pursuing this war with their kind. They do not believe we want peace when they offer their terms and cry out for an end to the bloodshed.

These are the same dwarves that, before we engaged them in our most righteous war, raided and murdered in every town and city on Anthos."

Cedric pipes up,

"Oui, Duc! I zee zem in elf lands, cutting up zem with no regard!"

Brandon dips his head down a bit and says calmly,

"They were the ones that proved themselves to be the bloodlusting ones. Even now, they continue assaults on Abresi and Oren civilians, belittling themselves to common banditry."

Vectis nods, continuing,

"We will not accept their terms until they meet our demands. We have the full right to continue this war, especially considering the atrocity that their entire military made when they allowed a HARBINGER among their ranks at the battle for the bridge! If they do not accept our terms, then surely they are too proud to give up mere prefixes and damn themselves!"

"Yer words speak only of yer ignorance. We be dwarves, nae humans. T'e Grand in Grandking is part of t'e name and has been since t'e days of Aegis, it beh part of t'e word, nae a prideful prefix! It's ahkin to us demandin' yer call yerselves t'e Ngdom of Oren."

Yer kind don't want peace, yer want power! Yer use t'e deaths of both man and dwarf in this pointless war as ah means t'e advance yer imperial goals! Yer can ahve peace whenever yer want it, but yer obviously don't. Yer King only wants peace if it advances 'is goals.

When Anthos united t'e cast down Horen V, did we make ah mockery of yer culture? NAE. Did we plunder Oren's gold? NAE. Did we demand t'e right t'e set up keeps in t'e lands of Oren? NAE. Did we demand t'e power t'e cast out yer lords that raided and pillaged our holdings? NAE. We demanded that yer release t'e nations of other races that yer'd subjugated by force that had nae wish t'e remain ah part of yer Empire and call off yer invasions of others. We nae put a sword t'e yer culture and we nae made yer dance naked in t'e streets fer our amusement.

This barbaric mockery has only been seen once before, which was the Oren Empire plundering, demanding tribute from and making a mockery of Malinor when they conquered it. OREN BEH T'E ONLY NATION THAT FEELS THE NEED T'E PISS ON T'E NATIONS THEY DEFEAT. Had this been t'e other way around, it would nae even ahve occured t'e us t'e make such a mockery of yer kind.

Stop gettin' yer feckin' foreign policy from that game of medieval politics set in some place called Earf that yer play in Oren."

Gradluff gestures towards a tabletop version of Crusader Kings II. It has "Paradox Steelwall Interactive" stamped on the side.

"And as fer belittin' ourselves t'e common banditry, ah point at pretty much t'e entire ruling class of Oren as evidence of yer hypocrisy. Don't stand beneath t'e Oren flag and talk t'e meh about atrocities."

Armas sighs as he speaks to his friend Branford and Abner about the war.

"The dwarves say they want peace, but they refuse the gracious terms that the King has offered them. The dwarves may be greedy but they should know that they will not get a better offer. They lost the war, and they should expect to be treated as such!"

"Ye ar' ignorant tu t'ink t'is war is uveh. 'o won t'e las' battle ah ask? Weh ar' nawt suh cowardleh as t'e rulers ov Oren 'o w'ould surrender suh easileh aftah ah single battle. It seems t'e lust fer powah 'as gotten tu t'e 'eads ov much ov yer nobiliteh. Aye, weh ar' forced tu foight t'is war 'awn or die tryin'. It continues baeh nun' othah t'an t'e 'ands ov 'umans. In his office, the top of his desk stacked with loosely-organized piles of paperwork, Joseph Lane sits.

Reviewing the various reports that filter in, then putting them next to some of the older notices on the diplomatic correspondence between Oren and Urguan.

Joseph Lane raises an eyebrow.. Then frowns.

"I wonder if most of the louder voices truly understand the process that is diplomacy."

"Do they understand that it is a slow back-and-forth process to begin with... And that it involves both sides essentially haggling, much like shopping on the market?"

"All this shouting about how outrageous and warmongering some demands are.. A bit silly. So quick to anger. So quick to dismiss the entire diplomatic process."

"From most humans, one might actually expect asmuch, short-lived and passionate as we are.. But to see the same behavior among the dwarves.."

"Perhaps these negotiatons require some more mediation."

Gradluff stares at Heinrik as he says the strange wors and concludes he's suffering from that brain plague that's rampant in Oren.

Wilson sighs, "This war doesn't need to end in another genocide, I know the lot of you remembered what happened when the elves refused these terms."

"We are not the sovereign body ruling over pitiful Kingdoms and Princedoms of traitorous minorities. We want peace, so long as it ends the so-called 'Grand' Kingdom of Urguan's frequent raiding of all the nations of Anthos."

"Who is the ignorant one now, making such broad assumptions while we keep you contained in your cage of a Kingdom?"
