I have been considering donating for a bit now, but have decided against it. I feel as though I do not gain from it as much as I once did, and here is why: 1.Lockpicking isn't around much anymore, so if I get a friend to do it, I only have to do it once 2.I have enough wealth that I sell my products RPly, as opposed to MCly, through the use of the merchant plugin I feel like right now, the donations only provide an MC advantage, yet I enjoy roleplay above all else. I feel as though I wouldn't use the donation, so maybe more RP-centralized rewards would improve donations? Not sure how you would do this, but this is just a possible solution. Again, if this seems off topic, or not what your original post was aiming for, then ask an FM to remove it or move it to the right place. Thoughts? Hunter (sckolar) 50 Share Posted February 28, 2014 No, not for me. My short answer to this thread is that I do not think it's gateways that keep some people from donating. I do not think it is because people are uncomfortable using specific gateways. However, perhaps This is not the case! Maybe multiple gateways will help! Here is the reason I do not donate (So far, but may change) Short version All decisions are community based for this server. Which means that the donation benefits will constantly change. And they won't change just because of that of course, but this does effect what the benefits of donating are. On top of that, what I get for donating is small, and mostly (actually more like half, but feels like it's more) boring forum stuff like "Infinite size inbox" Stuff like that, I do not care about because I hardly use the inbox. Or another example of something I don't care about like the craft book. I like to get stuff that will be useful in-game and fun to use. The stuff that is currently in the server when you donate is not all that satisfying for me either. The only one I find interesting is LWC, and that's about it. Along with that, the rules of the server constantly change, or some things get removed (Seems irrelevant, but it does have to do with it). These rule changes can either help the server, or worsen the experience, and in the past many of these changes made for not so fun experiences, making me more hesitant to donate. One example of this is how fast travel was removed, causing me to spend 30 minutes each hour walking everywhere, and finding little RP. It's all these little tiny things that keep me from donating All hours of my experience on LOTC add up to how I feel about all of it in the end, and this effects the likeliness of my donation. I am not trying to be mean about the whole thing, but if donations are a problem right now, I want to be honest. I do not know how others feel about this, but this is how I feel about it. So please, no "Oh, that's so selfish, you should donate so the server can run blah blah blah" I am sorry if it sounds like I am complaining, but this is all the truth of it. My reasons for not donating have nearly nothing to do with the gateways Interesting read. Not sure if the following will help, but maybe!: Extended version A long time ago (Asulon was new) I got angry because when you used your Soul stone, you went to your race's city. But if you died, you teleported to CT. I found a bunch of cool stuff in wilds, and wanted to go to CT (Where all players hung out) So when I used my Soulstone, I ended up in Normandor. In order to get to CT, you had to sail across an entire ocean, hundreds of blocks long, and if your angle was slightly off, you missed, and that is what happened. I sailed for TWO HOURS before I found land, then spent 30 minutes finding CT. I made a post about this with an idea (Not a good idea, I just wanted something to be done about this issue). Almost no normal members responded. Only donators responded saying "Kill yourself to get there" Yeah very RP isn't it? They also said "Donate" Now for those who have worked in customer service jobs, and have dealt with angry customers, you should know that people get angrier when you ask for more money from them, and donators were making me angry by telling me to donate. This is what they basically were telling me "If the game is making you mad, donate!!" Who donates when they are angry?? People donate because they are having fun!
