The Funeral Of Rosso.

 Share

Recommended Posts

It not had been long since last someone had seen Rosso, yet many people receive notice of the his death, letters being sent to all his friends and many of those he knew. The letter speaks of his death and about the funeral that is going to happen in VaerHaven. Any may come, but attacks would probably be suicide, considering the amount of friends of Rosso are warriors, mages, killers, druids, clerics and murderers, and they will not fight each other. The funeral was to be held at VearHaven.

The VaerHaven giant bell rings, the sound echoes through the dwarven lands. The ceremony is done on the top of the temple, and outside at the balcony lays the body, in golden armor and a stone mask. Flames under the body can be seen from the entrance of VaerHaven, the body in a position holding a wood staff, instead of the normal warrior's sword. Inside over the balcony a man with purple hair, elven ears and blue eyes awaits for the guests and former friends of Rosso. He looks a bit like Rosso, yet younger. After all gather inside, the man raises his hand for silence.

"I'm sorry about the weird ceremony, my father wished for it to follow the ways of his old village. For those that don't know me, I am Daniel, the second son of Rosso. I received a letter from my father not a few days ago proclaiming, what I could only address, as a suicide act. He did not mention what he wanted to do, but said his chances of success were horribly low. He had done things like this before, but before he said that he wanted and would work his hardest to survive. He disappeared for many months after that, but still it was not like this. He seemed sure he would die. And could even tell what would happen. I am sorry to say to all those here that knew my father better, but I was the last one to see him alive."

He takes a pause as he looks down for a moment. "I have not been with my father for many years, and I haven't seen him except for when he came to visit once in a while. I believe you all know him far better than me, but I could read it in his letters, he was always getting himself in trouble, and keeping secrets. In his last words, he said he wanted to have his life ended by repenting leaving his village, and having his funeral as tradition. Armored for the battles to come in the next world, a mask to never show a defeated look to the enemies, and their weapon of choice. Burning in the fires so that they quickly reach the seven skies."

"In his last words he asked me to convey this message to his friends. I tried to write down what he said, I hope I got it mostly right." He picks up and opens a piece of paper and awaits a moment before he reads it. "I'm sorry... to all those who care about me. I once again was selfish and wanted everyone else safe, and placed only myself in danger. Thank you to all those that have helped me and cared for me all my life." Once more he stops talking for a moment as he places the paper down.

"I ask for a moment of silence, for Rosso Nodal, dead at 67 years old, the Rildun of Stickfighting, Councilman of Silva Insula, Jarl of VaerHaven." he lowers his head and hopes the other present hold their silence as well. He turns around to head to the body, and there he stays for the moment, leaving only the noise of the fire over the body echoing the room.

Daniel creates a long sigh before lifting his head and turning once more to speak. "From those that knew my father better, I would like to listen to. Please, step forward and speak your name, and speak of my father. My father has left notes for all his friends, he had them prepared, as if waiting for this to happen. If there is something written for you, you will listen to what he wrote after your words."

He steps to the side, as he grips the many pieces of paper. Of the many he holds, these are some of the names they are directed to.

Beranabus sighs as he sits in the back of the crowd. The ceremony begins to finish and they begin to read off the names. He turns around and simply begins to walk off in a slight sad tone "The ol' man can nay be dead... I don' believe it.."

Daniel asks the ones in the cerimony to step foward and speak to the others about Rosso, as he sees someone stand up and leave.

"Please, come to the stand and speak about my father, the cenimony still has long before it's over."

Dizzy Irongrinder steps forward and begins to speak, his voice thick and his eyes misty

"Aye, Rosso was a gud friend, but more t'en just a friend 'e was a mentor. 'E 'elped me get on me feet when ah first arrived in t'a kingdom, an look where ah am now... a bloodeh lord o-t'a Grand Kingdom! Even was king at one point! We all could learn great t'ings from such a man, an t'at 'onor, loyalty, and forgiveness are paramount ideals in such dark times. As a lord of t'a Grand Kingdom of Urguan, I extend me deepest condolences tu t'e friends and family o- t'is great man. If t'ere is anyt'ing ah can du, do not 'esitate tu ask

For all t'at 'e as given ah proclaim 'im "Nak Akhoral" - Friend and Guide. May 'e be remembered fondleh fer years tu come.

*sits at the funeral, watching with an emotionless face as she starts to ponder "What had he ever been... I wonder what..." before she would lightly rise, walking off to the North with a rather pale expression*

A middle aged woman with crowsfeet by her eyes and long red hair smiles at the young man. She sits in the back with some old cloth. She seems pleased to be watching this yet her blue eyes give nothing away. She writes something down before picking up her stitching. Her human ears picking up everything quite well as she keeps her eyes on Daniel.

Daniel listened carefully as Dizzy spoke. As he ended, he asked in a whiper to him for his name, before looking through the notes and picking one of them.

"Dizzy, the non blood seeking dwarf. I still remember how he wes before he became a delver. A lot calmer than most of the other dwarves, less swear words as well. It was as clear as ale could get you drunk, that Dizzy was sure to become someone great. He lacked the annoying behavior that the other dwarves had, he talked and comunicated with other races, and he had more purposes than just fighting, killing and gold. Yet, he was still a dwarf, so much that he even became a king, I knew he was to be great. Before that, he joined Vaerhaven in their dispute with the dwarven Kingdom, and we even had a good laugh at the dwarven prisons. He was a great friend and companion, and one you could trust well to do the right thing. Stong of heart and stong of spirit, and a king which lost a bet, and danced on a table. Glad to have known him.

He sighs lightly and turns to Daniel bowing his head lightly "I am Beranabus.. Yer fatheh.. Well 'e was a great man. Good ol' lad.. I will send me condolences at a lateh date if I see ye again friend.. May Aeriel guide 'im in eternal peace..." He says as he takes a sharp breath inwards his face lighting up lightly as he thinks of Rosso then nods once more in respect to Daniel.

"Beranabus is one of slight weirdness. Never the less, not many are the people of Antho of pure of heart and good. He is one who fights for good, and wants good in others. A mage that I believe has the right standing in mind, and as so, can one day become great and known. I wish him luck in his new quest, and in his olds, to one day his wishes come true."

Daniel places the card down.

"Thank you for the words you game of him." He then makes a slight bow with his head.

((I will answer to everyone who speaks at the funeral, but tomorrow, I need to go to bed now =p))

The woman slowly stands. "I have something to say." she says softly. Her voice holding a slight accent. "Something I wish him to hear now." Her eyes stare straight at Daniel as she smiles softly.

"My name is Rose Elbery. Your father did me a great favor just a few elven days ago." she says. "I had hoped to learn more from him but alas, I never saw him again." She closes her eyes and straightens a bit. "I wanted him to know how grateful I am for what he has done and how much I owe him. He not only gave me new life, but helped me find peace. Now I am a nanny with a family, helping watch young children grow and play. Its nice being able to see the world again." She smiles kindly at Daniel. "I just wish I could have told him while he lived how much I appreciated his help. An old fool like me would be dead by now if it wasn't for him."

Sherria hesitates before meekly stepping up. She bows respectfully to Daniel, her eyes already stained with tears. She takes a deep breath, somehow managing to gather herself enough to talk.

"...I-I'm... s-sorry for your l-loss, Daniel..." She pauses again to keep herself from outright crying. "...I-I'm Sherria... a-and I've kn-known your f-father... f-for quite s-some time..."

"...H-he was... a v-very selfless m-man... O-one who w-would... r-risk his h-happiness and s-safety... f-for those h-he cares about... even i-if it m-meant doing h-horrible things... a-and being l-labelled as evil..."

"...H-he loved... t-teasing me and C-Carver..." she says softly with a faint, teary-eyed smile. "...I-I'm happy that... C-Carver had s-someone... she could t-talk to... s-spend time with... S-she will m-miss him, I'm s-sure, even though she... w-won't admit it..."

She pauses, pressing her scarf to her face to hold herself back, taking in a deep breath.

"...I-I'm sorry... H-he's done s-so much for m-me and Carver... I-I only w-wish... I-I could've d-done more for h-him... Be p-proud of your f-father, Daniel... H-he was... a g-great man... even if o-others d-didn't know it..."

She chokes a little, letting out a soft sob as she closes her eyes, unable to hold back her tears anymore. Carver doesn't step in, for some reason, leaving Sherria to cry for a bit.

A coadjutor of Rosso's development oversaw the funeral, the wire-thin and emaciated person of the old friend wrapped in its newest attire.

The forlorn Wilven Adonnan watched on in silence, the skeletal and ribbed monk-robed exanimate observing quietly; sunken in the gaunt sockets of the holyman's  skull stared out the glazed watch of a bleached violet and misty cyan, the mismatched hues of the eyes shifting in a mild shudder, in their dull and drab survey riddled with a myriad of simplistic emotions. The demon's eyes were sewn with gloom.
