Patch 3.9: Character Cards And Vip Perks

.:: Patch 3.9 ::.

Hail LotC, by now you may be thinking the world has ended. A lot of panic, a lot of commands you have to relearn and a lot of functionality you aren't familliar with. Perhaps you are wondering if all these new things and restrictions are even necessary? Well, allow me to go over the things that have been added today.

Remember to provide us with your bug reports as always. The plugins have been tested extensively, but all of you will stumble upon a lot more issues than just the few of us coders, so please forgive any inconsistencies you might find.

UPDATE: As of right now the restrictions of Alts have been slackened somewhat, allowing 2 Personas by default, 3 Personas for Gold VIP and up, and up to 4 Personas for Aether and Ender VIP.

Character Cards

Indeed a rather sizable change that may be daunting. For one thing, a lot of stuff has changed and a lot of OPTIMIZATION has happened under the hood. Change is scary, so you are scared. Luckily, there is assistance available for you to work with.

  • Change personas, receive help or find the 'main' menu by RIGHT clicking a Beacon. Alternatively, you can use both /beaconme and /me for the time being to achieve the same effect
  • Ender VIP get access to an Ender Chest if they use the above channels.
  • There is now an extensive Help source available either via /help or the above mentioned Beacon Menus. These help topics will guide you towards setting up your Personas, Soulstones, and various other features
  • Descriptions are not gone. To safe space, empty descriptions are not shown on your character cards. /setinfo works as it always has, as do additional commands for setting your description.
  • For backwards compatability, commands like /setname, /setinfo, and /setage are still usable for the time being, so feel free to use the commands you are used to
  • Gender and Race can NOT be changed by players (How does a Persona suddenly change Race anyway?). GMs can change the 'displayed' race (as can Event Team to provide good events), but these will NOT change future Racial Soulstones and Racial Bonuses.
  • While based on various feedback sources, we have decided NOT to release individual skills one by one, you can learn and get familliar with the various features the Skills Plugin is going to offer you soon enough. Skill Tomes will grant you XP, XP gain can be toggled off, and a list of commands is available that will let you interface with skills soon
  • Some features have been restricted to normal users for the sake of cleanliness and readability. Page-long biographies are no longer allowed, nor are excessively long names. Setting a Persona to an age below 10 is not allowed (but then again neither was it in the OLD character system), nor is setting your age above 1000 (as it is not Lore-proper to have a character that old, thus requiring you to consult the Lore team/admin)
  • PROTIP: You can add a 'prefix' to your character name by using the /persona prefix command, allowing you to have both a title and a name for a slightly longer total name.

Chat Changes:

Here are just some changes for convenience and efficiency. Clicking someone's name in Roleplay chat, for example, will now bring up their character card.

Knockout Plus:

Has been brought back! Choose to execute or revive fallen warriors. The 'Skulls' Plugin has been removed temporarily in order to compare Player experiences, but if you feel like you want both these plugins running synchronously (and aren't concerned about 'horrid lag' for 'useless plugins') make sure to let us know

  •  Execution time has been lowered from 4 to 2 seconds.
  • GMs may now turn off Knockout temporarily, for certain cases, for wars or events.

Renaming Items:

  • Accessible to Bedrock VIP
  • Named items are a SUGGESTION to Roleplay (read the related Help Topic): This means that if a Bedrock VIP names their item 'Unbreakable sword', you do not HAVE to roleplay that the sword is unbreakable, but you are recommended to play along for everyone's enjoyment.
  • Event Team Members and GMs can rename items in different colors, which are item names that are MANDATORY to follow in RP

Soulstones:

Have been changed, also wiped. We apologize for this fact, but also remind you that Redstone Pillars as a VIP perk were meant to replace Emerald Pillars. GMs may be less inclined to place an Emerald Pillar anywhere if you Modreq it, so you may have to find a gentle VIP.

  • Race homes are going to be set in consultation with the Race Leaders.
  • Based on your feedback before, you can Override slot 0 to teleport you to Spawn instead (Spawn Emerald Pillars will be available shortly), thus allowing you to opt out of teleporting to Racial Homes.

I'm not too crazy about the new changes, though I do really appreciate the guide to the new plugin, makes things a little easier. I do think it's a little silly to require a GM to change your gender and race, though.

I like it all besides making it so that only Bedrock VIPs can only rename items. I thought you wanted to get rid of ModReqs that said "I need you to rename a Item for me" making it exclusive to a perk that barely anyone has it not gonna do that.

I'm sorry but why?

Why are there more restrictions to character cards? Especially when I have a character with multiple aliases, plus two additional characters?

There's a prefix command so you can set aliases.

Not having the ability to change my race or gender is pretty damn scary, I just want to throw that out there. Now, if I ever want to hop onto my Dread Knight, or vice versa, I'm going to have to call a GM? Really?

Oh so it comes out as [Alias - Ashley] John Smith? Sorry but no.

No, it just says [prefix] with prefix as what you set it as.

Thanks for the hard work, sorry some people can't wait a day or two to test everything out before jumping on the forums and raging about it. I actually think the new changes are interesting and just need some time to sink in with people.

What about these spell tomes? How do we find them? What if we ICly have certain skills but can't find these stupid books? >.>

Or did you mean by all that that they aren't available yet?

It's a framework for systems that will be used in 4.0.

Ah. So it's not usable right now? Maybe you should edit the tool tip to say that.

"WIP" or something for new players and those who have no idea.
