WAR IT IS: ULTIMATUM REJECTED

Lord Chancellor Buron of the Holy Kingdom of Oren approached the gates, calling out for Wulfgar. He was at Kal’Arkon to deliver a simple message: King Heinrik would not step down from the throne of Oren. This was the demand made by the Urukan(Orcs) and Bortuan(Dwarves) after a series of incidents between Oren and different factions in the Fringe. Immediately after the message was delivered, the humans attempted to leave, but a scuffle broke out, and soon a rout ensued, with Zion forces chasing the Orenians all the way to their capital, Vekaro. There were many casualties on the Orenian side, with negligible losses inflicted on the forces of Zion.

Mali'Aheral Madness

Kalenz Uradiir, Mad Elf or Visionary?

The Flagship has recieved reports that the Mali'Aheral of Haelun'or have sided with the Orenians in the war with the Treaty of Zion signers. The Sohaer of Haelun'or could not be reached for comment. What this means for the war is hard to say, as the Mali'Aheral normally are not warlike and rarely keep a standing army. However, it will mean that the three nations at war with Oren will also now be attempting to defeat the Mali'Aheral as well.

Known Incidents leading up to the Ultimatum

Conclave Clash: King Heinrik attempted to attack the Concalve, was rebuffed by the uruks and possibly the dwarves.

Orenian Raid on Krugmar: Orenians attacked the uruks at Krugmar, but after a short seige, we flanked and wiped out by the dwarves and Alrasians.

Interview with Grand King Wulfgar

Ebs: I’m sure the Council will not mind us using the Chambers. I want to thank you for agreeing to this interview with me.

Wulfgar: *nods.

Ebs: So, in light of recent events, it looks as if a war between the signatory nations of the Treaty of Zion and the Holy Kingdom of Oren is inevitable.

Wulfgar: Well, t’at ‘as yet tu beh seen. T’ere may yet be ruum fer peace.

Ebs: I see, What steps, if any, have you taken towards securing such a peace?

Wulfgar: Firstleh, I wish tu make it clear t’at t’e Treateh ov Zion wus nevuh intended as an alloiance tu launch an offensive assualt ‘awn Oren. But ‘un made in ordah tu show Oren t’at weh wud nawt stand fer anothah conflict, such ‘as ‘appened at t’e Conclave. Ah ‘ad ‘oped it would brin’ peace. Sadleh, Oren ‘as interpreted it(The Treaty of Zion) as sumt’in’ qoite t’e opposite.

Ebs: I see. What exactly transpired at the Conclave? I’m afraid I have not heard much about the events you are speaking of.

Wulfgar: T’ere ar’ varyin’ accounts. Wut weh know is t’at it sturted w’en King ‘einrik marched ‘awn t’e Conclave.

Ebs: Were his(Orenian) forces intercepted?

Wulfgar: T’e uruks wer’ at t’e Conclave at t’e toime, aye. Ah wus nawt t’ere mehself, but ah ‘ear t’ere wus certain’eh sum conflict. ‘O sturted it, ah fear weh will nevah know. Weh dwarves acted in neutraliteh, attemptin’ tu call t’e varyin’ factions tu Kal’Ithrun. T’ough t’ey all arroived, ah’m afraid little progress mus made.

Ebs: I recall.

Wulfgar: Oren wus intent ‘awn leadin’ an offensive against t’e Concalve fer reasons t’ey would nawt explain. T’ough ah’ve later baehn informed it wus’ over t’e apparenty existence ov ‘ochmeister Mirtok. Oren acted out ov fear alun.

Ebs: If negotiations fail, and war breaks out, how confident are you of a Zion victory?

Shouts of, “Legion, assemble!” and, “Wulfgar!” wring out.

Ebs: Well, it appears you are needed. I will not keep you. Thank you for your time Grand King.

Wulfgar: Aye, t’is nawt a problem.

Wulfagar, shouting: Aye?

The Rex: Nuw, wub duz latz wunt tu blah abut?

Ebs: I take it you have just returned from a battle with Oren?

Ebs: So, I have a few questions regarding the lead up to this war. From what I understand, you were in the Conclave when King Heinrik attempted to attack it. Is that correct?

Interview with Viceroy Ptah Remneal of Alras

Ebs: Thank you for sitting down with me. I suppose we should get right to it. I just recently skimmed your statement on the war, and your position intrigued me.

Ptah: How so?

Ebs: You called the current conflict a “war of mercy.” That is a road not usually traveled. Could you perhaps elaborate?

Ptah: The Kingdom of Alras has always desired to honor the debts it owes to other powers. Indeed: Oren was not and is not the only one in this respect. However, our complication is that, with humankind, those to whom we owe a debt are long dead. Such is the unfortunate nature of the human curse.

Ebs: Indeed. So, I take it that you intend to repay the debt in a more… creative… way?

Ptah: However, the ideals of a person can be honored long after death. We believe that the Aegisian Oren to whom the debt is owed would not to desire to live as the deformed and bloodied shadow it is now.

Ebs: I see. You think that the current manifestation of Oren is not appropriate in the memory of individuals such as King Pampo Perea or Saint Dan?

Ptah: What you see beyond these hills stopped being Oren many years ago. It is vile to suggest King Pampo Perea, whom to him and his people our debt is owed, would be satisfied to label what exists now as ‘Oren’. Therefore, we shall act in accordance with the ideals of the dead.

Ebs: I would assume that would include removing House Carrion from the throne?

Ptah: It would include removing any cancerous elements that can be identified.

Ebs: I see. What do you envision a post-war Oren would look like? How would it even get to that point?

Ptah: As with any birth, it shall be bloody at the start. But there is no reason to believe that the ideals of old Oren cannot be reestablished as governing principles and social policy. I hope to one day see something similar to what I, and many other, remember.

Ebs: Would you be maintaining the Monarchy, at least for the foreseeable future?

Ptah: It is very likely, but that shall depend on numerous factors. Recall: we are collaborating with the Dwarven cause, and so their interests in a reborn Oren will be answered to in a joint plan on both of our parts. Meaning, monarchy is very likely, but we are willing to listen if the Dwarves know of a system that would resolve our interests, their interests, and the interests of the human race.

Ebs: Is it possible that all three nations interests could lie on the same path?

Ptah: The interests of Alras are with all inspection identical to that of true human ideals in this respect, due to the nature of our debt. The Dwarves too understand the desire for a reformed Oren as evidenced in the Grand King’s declaration.

Ebs: Well, I suppose that if you do win the war, one could only hope for a reformed Oren.

Ptah: Hope is what happens before the war, Mr. Telrunya. After, comes success or failure.

Ebs: Well, thank you for this… enlightening interview.

Ptah: It was a great pleasure. And now, there are grim deeds to be done.

Interview with Lord Chancellor Wilfrich Buron

Lord Chancellor Wilfrich Burton of the Holy Kingdom of Oren, appearing to be picking his butt.

I arrived at Vekaro, intent on interviewing the Lord Chancellor of Oren, Wilfrich Burton. However, after waiting around for an hour while he ran along the wall, I don’t know what to say.

Treaty of Zion

Three elven days ago, the leaders of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, Krugmar, the Kingdom of Alras, and the Conclave signed a mutual defense treaty and non-aggression pact name the Treaty of Zion. It could not help but be noted that the Holy Kingdom of Oren was the only major power not to sign. The agreement requires that all signing nations refrain from attacking each other, as well as if one nation is attacked, that all the other nations must come to their aid. At the time, it was thought this pact would prevent Oren from violating the territory of the other nations. However, now, it is expected to bring all four nations into the conflict with Oren. There is no way tell if the Treaty of Zion will survive the coming chaos.

Evacuation to the Fringe

Predictably, after the gateway to the Fringe/Verge 2.0 was opened, there was a great flood of people colonizing the new land. However, unexpectedly, all major groups have migrated to the Fringe, leaving their lands in Anthos behind. It is almost comical that all these groups would abandon the land that they fought so hard to keep, but such is the way of the world.

Vekaro Founded

38f47817149a6d3a394e9eabdf6fec2d.png

Via an edict passed by the Church of the True Faith, the capital of the Holy Kingdom of Oren has been shifted to the town of Vekaro in the Fringe. Construction is under way, and a Maer is expected to be elected soon. However, the competence of Orenian officials have been called into question as of late, and with the coming war, it is unknown if the Orenians are in the Fringe to stay. At press time, it appears that Oren is attempting to centralize it’s military around the city. This move comes after several losses by Orenian forces to the Treaty of Zion nations.

Alras Reestablished

d8efbae76d6e38ed699285583dea5955.png

The flame of Alras, under the dutiful rule of High King Syrio, has been rekindled atop the dwarven city of Kal’Arkon, the dwarven settlement in the Fringe. It is ruled by High King Syrio, once the richest person in the word. as well as the Council, which is made up of several familiar faces. The Flagship will be maintaining its main offices in Alras. A side note: The druids and most of the wood and dark elves have also moved atop Kal’Akron, with the druids building a grove there.

Dwarven-Uruk Construction

There appears to be a great deal of construction going on underground near dwarven and orcish lands. Eventually, after a terrible noise, the “Raidway” was opened between Urguan and Krugmar. It cuts travel times, though they were pretty close anyway, so the more interesting aspect is whether these “raidways” will be expanded to other parts of the Fringe.

Lelien stares at the Flagship with a furrowed brow.

"Kalenz isn't Sohaer anymore? Nor has -anyone- contacted him or me about an interview. Unjust.

Elmali'aheral aren't siding with anyone. This information is incorrect."

A statement is issued from the halls of the Triumvirate, the governing body of the High Elves of the Silver Enclave of Haelun'or.

"This statement is issued to dispel rumors of elmali'aheral siding in any upcoming international conflict.

Elmali'aheral maintain consistent neutrality in all matters. The information given in any article is false on all accounts, as it is by nature naught but biased interpretation and opinion. Elsohaer could not be "reached for comment" because none attempted to reach said individual. The Triumvirate notes that this article is actively published by a disgraced 'prince' of the fallen nation of Mali'nor and a general incompetent. It is suspected that his biased writings are influenced by the Black Scourge, the enemy of all sentient races, for he seems to seek to incite conflict as much as they.

Elmali'aheral are neutral, as always. Be wary of those attempting to prey on the fears and concerns of others."

Wilfriche grumbles.

"If you come during a battle, do not expect answers. I was busy commanding men and I did not have enough time to do an interview."

Ellir, by chance, is handed a crumpled copy of the Flagship, and begins to peruse it with a gleeful expression. She reaches the section about her beloved people, flashes an amused smile, and lets the papers flutter and drift off in a brush of warm summer wind.

"How curious," she giggles,  "that the Elf that could effortlessly collapse multiple Princedoms should try so hard to chip the surface of the Mali'aheral." She then prances off gleefully to splash cold water on her face.

Merit picks up a copy off a dead elf after the recent battles, slowly readying it as blood drips off some of the pages.

"Yah' cant stand loos'en so yah' make papers ta' try to make yer' people think yah' winning, Pathetic."

Sinyail looks at the copy of the Flagship in his hands, his thin shoulders shaking with laughter, his normally cold attitude replaced with senseless mirth, his laughter ringing around like a gale. He throws the offending article down, and grinds it beneath his boot, shoulders still shaking beneath his heavy coat. "Such fiction is to be disapproved, despite the mirth it causes. I do rather wish that I could meet this writer for... educational purposes. It would cause much mirth to see him squealing above the drop from the walls." he states, without caring who cares as he marches off, tears of laughter brimming in his eyes, face red from a lack of breath.
