There seems to be too much of a focus on news in the Media Team currently and not IG footage, lore or trailers. The inherent flaw with news programs that aren't deliberately farcical (Lotc with Me) is that their news will be somewhat outdated or irrelevant. Focus less on news and more on things that will draw new players in, like location features, in-character stuff (e.g. Arcadius's Journal from Aegis) and trailers. We have enough news, if people care about it - Lotc with Me is, lets face it, good comedy with a dash of news. That works, no more needed.

 

TL;DR Less news, more content.

Yes, LoTC with Me is good, but it doesn't come out that often for news. LoTC with Me, Jades weekly Herald, and LoTC News are currently the only three on going news projects.

You ruin the surprise if it's IC news. Do not.

OOC news are ok. Everyone would like to know about what new plugins are being made and stuff like that, but IC should be kept out of this.

 

IC is brought to an extent. We are not going to tell you guys information such as:

• Location of that player or group.
• Who that player is IC
• How to stop this character.

Basically anything that can most definitely be meta'd. But I do see where you're coming from on this.

we have some of that with Beast's video

we are also in the process of making new content that should come out but not weekly.

LotC with me isnt really news

Media Morning Herald is only Media Team news with a snippet of stuff from RP

This is meant to show more of what is happening in and out of character. Only what is REPORTED to us will be put in the LotCN

We have plans for a few new videos that are in process to bring in new players and advertise the server, however it is harder to do those weekly

An overall nice video however somethings that I believe might make it a wee bit better.

 

-Make the entry shorter, 30 or so seconds is a bit much.

 

-Make it less like you're reading off a script and more lively.

 

-Refrain from repeating news.

Well considering you are /media/ it is legitimate feedback. Obviously it is not entertaining for your entire demographic, so perhaps time to look at making some changes. Sure he could have said it differently, but you gotta take what people give.

a minute or less view of an area was not what i meant. i meant a tour of the area with the  leader, what goes on, what you can expect when joining it, different activities, what it looks like from a normal player's view.

My real criticism for this is just the idea in general. Why is their so many "news" outlets? Try and do something to draw in new players, not cater to current players. Why do we need this much news?

There aren't so many news outlets, there's only ever one at a time. Catering to old players is also a way to get new players to join, if a player from the outside sees that we do this and get intrigued by the goings on of the world, then they would be more likely to join more so than watching a thirty second clip of a person flying around with shaders galore.

 

While this is all fine and dandy, how about making some stuff for new players rather then for the players who know what half of this stuff is. Keep IC shite IC. A hell of a lot more better that way.

We do have videos being made for the new players, and the non-existent players. We will continue to report on IC news, there is no reason not to and most of the IC news, is news that would be known worldwide.

 

The problem is that we have had.... how many? Like, 5-6 different attempts at a news outlet now? Also, I have seen little no none in other aspects. It is good that they are actually doing things.... but why always news? The news is hardly even important... make things to bring in players, not recycle a washed up idea that only caters to current players

We've had only two, The Report and now this one. We have plenty in other aspects, go to the herald that gets released weekly and you will see a couple videos posted in there. Again, news caters old as well as can be used as tool to bring in new players, if we continue to report on IC news a non-existent player may see something that interests them and then come to the server.

I don't understand what you mean, "lore" is something that we don't touch and can't really do anything with. As for trailers, a trailer is used for advanced publicity, there is nothing to make a trailer about currently. The reason that news seems as outdated here, is that our "world" aka. community, is not as big as the real world. With real news, you get told about incidents and events which were done later than you are seeing it, therefor it is outdated and some cases irrelevant. The reason ours looks worse, or you can see through the cracks, is that our world/community is so small that if something happens on the other side of "The Fringe" everyone will know about it that afternoon. I would love to opt in and make the news a daily thing, but it's not that easy to do and it isn't something that needs to be done. Again with the drawing new players bit, I am glad to see people leaving feedback but if it's going to be the same line over and over. We have things in the works.

 

IC news belong to IC context. Make a bloody newspaper in character. Have people running around, gathering news and then selling the newspapers like they did in Aegis. You are essentially allowing, or promoting, people to metagame all of this. C'mon!

I will not be forcing my team members to making newspaper characters, just because you believe that IC news cannot be announced anywhere else. It's selfish. I am not "essentially allowing, or promoting" people to metagame. How do we ruin the surprise? There is no ruin, if you didn't know about it before you saw, that there is your surprise. New plugins don't come in weekly.

Unlike most, I like it! Although we have many news outlets, I still enjoy seeing new content distributed out.

 

As some might not know, LotC News is taking the place of LotC-BC. Its rival, my very own LotC With Me, is simply a parody and comedy show in which we make jokes. In no way should anything I say give you information (unless you want a ban, of course!). Keep it up, Leon, and great first episode! Just a few minor things:

 

1.) In the intro sequence, perhaps include credits (ex. Directed By [name] or Written By [name])

2.) When using voice actors, be sure their mics are clear and low to reduce spiking.

3.) Less dubstep and more casual techno and guitars.

4.) Cookies. Much more cookies, pl0x.

 

Aside from those, episode was pretty smooth. Enjoyed they simplicity and not having the frame covered by a multitude of links and annotations. I also enjoyed the character models in the bottom left! Great work and keep going! :D
