Will it still be overrideable? Might need to close the gate to raiders at day, or open for a specific party at night.

Looks great, how does the drawbridge work?  What system/commands/etc. is causing it to move like that?

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.

I'm actually quite impressed at whats been done here. Bravo, Senda. You've yet to fail the human playerbase.

I believe the staff should really consider plugins that allow blocks to be toggled into different positions.

Take for example Dark Ages: The Catapults on there a fully functional and use engineering with distance and length. It'd make the server pretty damn good if we had plugins/mechanics like that.

It's just a entrance. But it's one of the best I've seen so far. Awesome job Senda!

I see someone else is Tier 5 in Craftbookmancy. Looks great! You could probably wire in some sound effects and a manual override if you wanted.

Much praise should go to Rickyjctv for helping me figure out the craftbook functionality behind this.

As for a manual override: It will have one.

As for sound effects: We should sit down and have a chat about that.

There should be an inn just nearby so people can have somewhere to stay overnight.

Good job! But my only problem is the automated lighting system and lag that may occur when people are in the capital!

Feel free to publicly execute me if I ever design a city without one.

I was waiting for this very remark to pop up.

Essentially, when confronted with lag, a number of things might be the case, as has been the case (and seen on these very forums) countless times thus far.

In New Abresi, we have seen people encounter lag in the city, spot the automated lighting system (or anything run by redstone) and quickly point to it as the cause, when in reality, one should take a step back and do a far more detailed analysis of the situation at hand.

First up - what kind of connection do you have to server to begin with?

Second - what kind of computer are you using to play minecraft on?

Either one might be a problem, far before the redstone can do anything but sparkle with a soft, red glow.

Long ago, I decided not to worry about it.

I live in Holland and play from a semi-decent computer.

So far, I have yet to design a contraption so elaborate it has any ill effect on my game whatsoever.

If that it is good enough for me, without a high-end computer, without a sterling connection to the server.. it is good enough as a benchmark for performance.

Much like those that are quick to blame 'the large amount of plugins' on the server for 'all this lag'.. anyone should take the above as encouragement to do some careful research into things like this, before pointing the finger of blame, with only rumours and hearsay to back it.

There is a voice inside my head that says "Boo! Unfair! How will raiders or attackers ever be anything to be afraid of with a drawbridge?!"

Then there's a louder voice in my head that says "I love sneaky villain roleplay."

Then there's an even louder voice that says, "woah that's cool."

Tl; dr:: sweeeeet.
