Fimlin 1997 Share Posted June 2, 2014 MaturityI've been thinking about it for a while, but I believe I understand now why things are so. There is one main reason Lotc has shrunk from when it was better and that is because of age. When Minecraft came out it was a couple of friends looking for a game and they found Minecraft. It's the same way for nearly all of those older players and they made videos, and in turn younger kids latched on. Over time these older players stopped playing Minecraft or Lotc for many reasons like; boredom, school, family, starting their life ect. The problem is Minecraft has acquired a younger immature player base across all severs and this can really entertain or annoy people above their level of maturity. What Minecraft has become is not entirely a good thing, however so long as we keep the players of inteligence beyond clicking your mouse to kill Someone, we can hope to find more players of like understanding. What is maturity? It's when you face a problem from every side, when you listen to others no matter what the answer. It's to suck up something that has wounded your pride or your pixels, it's to judge on what actually happened and not people's opinions. It's to be able to handle something without raging or crying, to not whine (complain without a solution in mind), and to be able to move on and be able to have fun without trolling. It's to remain calm and fair no matter what the other side says, to swallow your pride for the greater good, and to change when you need to change; for the only way to change someone is if they want to change. And above all to question authority, no matter how corrupt or biased or bought it is, to not judge by the tails side but rather heads, tails, and the space in between. It doesn't matter who posts it but maturity is what it is and every above point should be something to strive for in order to make The Lord of the Craft as fun as it once allegedly was. (Any reply pointing fingers or complaining of an event would be immature, for example.) Just reporting don't hung I said a long time ago, doesn't fit entirely right towards the war however it is still a serious issue.

Joe_Blackman 253 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Don't forget that OOC competition should be kept as minimal as possible, for somewhat obvious reasons.
gingernut97 150 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Oh, well, that sure was something right there. As much as I may, in fact, disagree with the idea that younger players are immature across the board: I can see your point that younger players' lack of maturity is damaging the server and its community. However, there us no actual way to combat this "threat" as it would involve discriminating against our younger peers, who's to say that a person that may be an adult is mature enough? We shouldn't be basing the argument of maturity on people's age. I joined the server in 2011, and I was relatively mature within roleplay despite only being 13 years old at the time. So, if you had your way, would you have an minimum age requirement on the server application? Would you so actively discriminate against others, without giving them a chance to show you their worth? If so: then it would appear that the younger players are not the ones who are immature. Overall, yes, I agree with your point that Minecraft has gained a younger playerbase (th-thanks, Yogscast) and that something needs to be done to limit the amount of immature young players- but not all young players. Don't forget: older players can be immature too.
monkeypoacher 8055 Share Posted June 2, 2014 you all need to just chill out and realize that minecraft is minecraft. I've never seen so much competition over pixels than I have on this temp map that ends in a few weeks.
Birdwhisperer 1174 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Youth doesn't always equal immaturity, though it is often a contributing factor. Regardless, lack of maturity is the root of most of LotC's problems. That, and lack of empathy - which could be argued is linked with immaturity.
bungo 3965 Share Posted June 2, 2014 I wish I could be mature but I am a small boy with the inability to grow up. Or I guess its because I hate people.
ski_king3 0 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Some of LotC's most mature players are its youngest players, and some of its least mature its oldest. The shifting demographic of Minecraft (which I would argue has increased in age rather than decreased) isn't the cause of our woes. Mostly it's what bird said, a lack of empathy, although there are other issues as well.
