4-Month-Climate-Cycle (Not Year!)

It's very rare to see people rping the ig calender, I think this is for two reasons. First off it goes by way to fast, and secound we tend to rp with whatever season is taking place in real life at the time (In the Northern hemisphere).

From the title you are probubly thinking "Hey, characters would take ages to age! I would onoy age it 3 years every elven year!" Well I'm not quite done yet. I'm proposing we change the climate drasticaly, instead of the timeframe.

With this we could actualy decorate for the season, without having to tear it all out a week later.

Mini idea: Change the number of days in an IC year to be 15 Elven days at the start of a month, then however many days left (15, 16, 13) till the end of the monh. Just for simplicity's sake wih the new climate.

I personally think people don't rp the IG calendar much because it's timekeeping and offset are not obvious in relation to real world time. How fast it goes is not as important as the ability to translate an IC and OOC time stamp at a glance.

And I am addressing these issues.

I, personally don't RP the calender because I don't have a clue what season each month is in.

Snow's Maiden - Snowy Season (January)

Malin's Welcome - End of Cold Season (February/March)

The First Seed - Warm Season (April/May)

The Grand Harvest - The Season of Harvest (June)

Sun's Smile - The Sunniest Season of The Year (July)

The Amber Cold - End of Warm Season (September/October)

The Deep Cold - The Coldest Season (November/December)

Why not do seasons that last for years like GoT does.

This would also leave up the option for a plugin that increases and decreases the growth time of crops/trees. I support.

I think you'll find it looks like this.

Snow's Maiden - Snowy Season

Malin's Welcome - End of Cold Season
The First Seed - Warm Season
The Grand Harvest - The Season of Harvest
Sun's Smile - The Sunniest Season of The Year
The Amber Cold - End of Warm Season
The Deep Cold - The Coldest Season

Because the whole world isn't on your hemisphere.

Also, in response to OP, the wiki has this:

Season is one calendar month. Around 2 years and 2 and a half Seeds in-game. The Season was instituted by the Orcs in recognition of the weather's shifts, particularly in Krugmar, every two years and three Seeds. It has been observed that the heat during "Suns Smile" can differ from one season to another, likewise the cold of Snows Maiden. It is unknown why the Season affects over two years of weather, however equipped with this knowledge a cunning farmer knows that Krugmar will only yield harvest for one season before the heat becomes too extreme in the next.

There are smaller shifts in temperature throughout the year, but there is also a larger seasonal shift that happens over our RL month. This hasn't been explored much to distinguish what weather shifts there are. Perhaps it is hot one month cold the next, or maybe it is more in-depth.

Hmm, I guess that would work. Though I think the current "Months" or "Seeds" Should be either removed or drastically changed to fit the proposed 4.0 climate. Yes people somewhat follow the IRL seasonal shifts. Having all of the Sun's Smile months and such is just silly as they are never ever used.
