As a recently demoted GM, it's hella difficult to RP out every single modreq you do when there are another 10 people waiting for you to finish the one you're on. There are a lot more people on our server than there used to be.

Thus proving my point. Sounds like y'all need more GM's or other support staff (Supply) to do modreqs (Demand).

Agreed. Most of us seem to be burnt out at this point.

Cliques isn't the issue I'm addressing. Nor am I addressing the community.

I'm just suggesting that after 4.0 we start with a new world with a new setting different from our current one with new characters, new races/lore, and maybe even new plugins to spice things up.

If you think about it we can say the same thing about cliques going into any of the worlds. Friends will stick together no matter how you try to divide it and that's not what I'm trying to do here. I'm not trying to 'split up cliques' or 'fix the community,' I'm just proposing a new setting for us to RP in and that's it.

This is more of a suggestion to just reset RP and just to add new life.

A reset isn't going to solve anything, but just make players leave.

If you wanna fix the clique problem, make cliques rely on outsiders. Create content that caters to the entire server and not just them. Make cliques not have as much fun as the rest.

To say somebody is going to leave just because of a fresh start is really silly. Those people probably would be better off gone anyway because they are too attached to their characters and probably would just cause drama anyway. If they can't handle a reset the problem is theirs.

Why not have us lose completely at the end of 4.0, and start completely fresh, not a wipe of memory, not a different timeline in the same universe.  But literally we lose entirely, Iblees claims dominion over this plane of existence as well.  And we all die.  Another idea would be to go back to Aegis, or something along those lines.  We simply reverse time, and start over in Aegis, then Asulon, and so forth again, and see how history would re-write itself based on OOC attitudes changing over the years.

We've discussed such multiple times in the past: killing everyone just doesn't work.

That being said, a fresh start with a fresh mentality doesn't need a lore reboot. The orcs could all get together and do it right now. So could the humans and the elves and the dwarves. Abandon ya builds, wander off to another part of the Fringe and start anew in every way.

This server is like literally any other sandbox game out there. Large groups with a strong leadership form something very strong and with hands in everything. Smaller groups will fight the larger groups and larger groups will fight each other. The little guys will get absolutely crushed, which I will talk about in a bit. The big guys, will have a long drawn out skirmish with little to no progress. Eventually, the two will put larger and larger spaces between themselves and end up on the opposite ends of the playing space. From there, it will be recruitment drive like all hell. This will go on for a while and the group leaders will most likely keep a friendly attitude with the opposing side.

Know why? PR. They need to look mature and friendly to keep gathering new recruits, to further their wars. They'll offer IG money, arms, armor, and land, should the game allow such.

Then we have the little guys. They'll scrounge together their buds and whoever happens to be around to join them. From there, we have a split. One set of the little guys will remain silent, play amongst themselves and enjoy their time on the game. The other, will attempt to oppose the big guys. And this is where 80% of the Forum drama will emerge. This tiny vocal minority will do everything in their power to *****, whine and slander the big guys.  From there, the underlings may or may not give in. Resulting in petty BS and an excess of forum Drama.

To be blunt, it's nothing new. And if you stare at the forums, you're going to feel like the community is just complete and total ****. In reality, it's not the entire community but instead, a very vocal minority. Actually look at the number of people on the server then look at the number of people crying real tears and demanding change to benefit themselves and ONLY themselves.

When most of us left on the Exodus, it was because we were just too damn invested in the forums. The same like.. 6 people making ****-fit threads made us hate the community and hate the server. To be blunt, we've turned our attentions from the forums because they're absolute ****. The same group of like.. 15 people are going to ***** at every turn, just to *****. That being said, never look at the forums and just enjoy the RP. You'll have A LOT more fun here.

And to get back on topic a bit, no one can deal with change. It'll never work and people will just play the same characters.

People seem to overlook why Aegis was really awesome. It wasn't the setting, lore-freedom, or default fighting mech, it was the mofuckin' Wanderin' Wizard. It was so cool as a player to see one of the server leads actually running around RPing and relating his "modreq" game commands into RP. LotC today is manufactured fun, it's monotonous and predictable. Our GM's and Admins treat this game like they're burnt out customer service reps. The piggy bank shattered when Availer stopped coming around. Ever since then it's been a frantic, yet oddly lackadaisical, piece the bank back together with some duct tape and call it fixed by the staff, like there's one problem and one solution. Once Shift came by and RP'd popping some locks for me after I put out a modreq and it was thug. I bet he's done that for a few of you too. Mog's empire was so popular not only because he hit a homer with media trends, but because he was a tangible staff member and leader whom you could talk to. I tried this back when I was ET and players whether they realized I was just playing an ET char (That's you Malinor/Conclavia) or not had some entertainment.

Bring back the age of staff creativity and RP interrelation with their "job".

I think this is actually pretty telling. It certainly wouldn't solve all of the server's problems, but I think having staff members be more tangible the way the Wandering Wizard was (presumably, I wasn't around then) would result in more people feeling that they're a part of an "epic story" the way the server used to be advertised and perceived. I know a lot of us were probably drawn in because we wanted to be a part of an epic adventure, a piece of a huge puzzle that would be as interesting as the fantasies we've read about and seen in our games since such a genre first intrigued us.

But what do I mean by the staff members being more tangible? I mean having high-ranking staff play somewhat mysterious, powerful characters who are there to provide RP. The Wandering Wizard (again, from what I've heard) was awesome because he RP'ed with everybody, helped out everybody, and tried to provide fun for everybody. He avoided taking sides in conflicts, and instead helped people focus on the real problem: the Undead. I may be slightly misrepresenting him, but I think that's irrelevant because that's what we need. Admins and GM's ought to play cool, powerful characters who don't have a side. Instead, they're there to create RP for whoever is around. If you do this, you also eliminate the need for a Protagonist; instead, simply have the top people on the server be immersed in the server's RP and the Antagonist story (as all high-ranking staff really ought to be anyways), and have them provide means to the players to defeat the Antagonist. This allows or an epic combination of characters to look up to who have exciting powers that exceed the bounds of what a typical character can do, while removing the pretentiousness of a server Protagonist, establishing the staff as an active part of our community, and giving players the ability to be a monumental part of an epic story. Perhaps I could flesh this idea out more (as I am now thinking I will), but I think the ideal I'm espousing is achievable and awesome. I know I joined because I wanted to be a part of an epic story, and have found that players alone struggle to create that.

I know when I was made an SM, I started RP'ing out almost all of my modreqs. It adds a bit of time, but it wasn't impossible, and typically I found that there were never that many modreqs piled up. Of course, that was when seven of us were added as SM, and all of us were pretty active aside from one or two, so while the GM's stopped logging in almost completely, none of the modreqs we were allowed to handle lasted long.

Just because you erase the roleplay, doesn't mean you erase the OOC relations, cliques, and rivalries xD. Everything will be the same even if we do get a restart. Attitude needs to be fixed, not roleplay.

Huh...Ive actually been talking and thinking about this for a long time. IMO, what I was thinking about is something more like...we defeat the antagonist finally and then we just leave it be. I was thinking something along the lines of an alternate universe because of certain things that went wrong with some stuff due to a moderator vanishing at the end of Aegis, tbh. Obviously people are going to want their Pyromancy, Mental Magic, Shade Magic, and Necromancy around still or at least similar and under the control of the people who understand it, but I really do think at least something similar to a restart should happen. But most likely preferred scenario would be a time-skip. An all new setting with an all new world.

Personally, I despise this limited "There's only one evil dude ever" setting. Look at DnD. The gods are at war with each other for influence over the mortal world constantly. There are clerics that invoke the power of war and water because that is what their god covets. They channel negative energies while holding influence over the arcane because that's what their god covets. There are good gods against good gods because the gods are a bunch of powerful kids in the sandbox basically.

Definitely not soon, however. I think everyone's emotions need to be let out for a good, long time before something like this happens- and that's exactly what you're proposing. So yeah. I agree.

Personally, it may be best to have the races win...then a sort of skip ahead. Far, far ahead. Something of a building era, 1000 years, old characters are gone, maybe you're playing their great, great descendants (I know I would) and honestly, people really would change their game.

I'd probably try being a good guy for once. Probably at least two characters, tbh, but one would certainly be a good guy.

Everyone just needs a chance to let go...to really want to, then give them exactly what they need, because seriously guys, too much rage about things in the past. Ive been learning more and more everyday that has gone by in the past months about how stupid the smallest things really are.

So yeah, honestly, I support. Not exactly like it's being proposed, but I support.

Hey, I started out rping my modreqs too. And it's true, when those SMs were brought into the fold the reqs got done real fast. That's how it is with all new GMs. Hell, I did like 700 or something my first month. But you burn out quick if you do that for a little while.

It's nice rping the reqs out however you can, but I found that people preferred getting their reqs answered within a reasonable time after making them.

67% of the server lacks the creativity to come up with a new, permanent, non-trolly character that isn't ripped from a fantasy genre.

I'm still for the idea of removing the event team and making the GM team start doing more events in-game. Bridges the gap and gets the doing more than modreqs so they don't turn into grump grump cave trolls as it tends to happen.

Or the staff could ban every player for two months, have a new map and changed lore when everybody is unbanned. Doesn't necessarily mean it will help.

It could potentially do a catastrophic amount of harm to the server in general, but it's better than letting it assuredly go stale. We've had characters, nations, factions and cliques that have existed for three real years. Nothing is going to dissolve completely, especially what has been established Out of Character, but at the very least it will do a little bit of cleaning.
