[Feedback] Server Monetisation

Horses do change game-play. They allow you to get around a lot lot faster, this is a gameplay feature, it can't be disputed.

You have some points on the other rules but there are still violations. Take it up with Mojang, not me.

You can get horses without donating.

Tythus is fully aware of the situation and will make a post as soon as he gets clarification from Mojang, now I ask everyone else to stop making threads like this and just wait.

I know you can obtain horses without paying but the rule still stands: You are allowed to sell in-game items so long as they don’t affect gameplay

And they do affect game-play. Whether or not you can obtain without paying is irrelevant, you can obtain a game-play changing feature through money.

The fact of the matter is that this restriction is so incredibly vague. We are in no need of worry since we can make a case for every donation perk that we have. None of them restrict the fundamental game.

Besides, quoting some moderators here, LoTC is not even close to the biggest server in Minecraft. Not. Even. Close. Those giant servers that give diamond armor to donators in PvP matches will be the first, not a 400-player roleplaying server. We've got a buffer with these servers, and time to figure this all out.

Do you really think Mojang is going to send a Minecraft SWAT team to Tythus' house for this breaking of rules?

I wonder how they propose to enforce this. Will they start using the authentication servers to block certain servers that are breaking the rules? Will they file lawsuits and ask for judges to shut down the servers? Do they have the infrastructure and staff to monitor hundreds of servers in order to look for violations?

You do realize the mount you get with donations isnt available in vanilla minecraft without a plugin or mod? And the pets are also hooked into a plugin called Mypet. You can still get things without having to donate.

At most, the item pack might have to go, but even then, not really. You can obtain them easily with no issue whatsoever without donation, and its merely a reward to give people an incentive to donate.

This exact same thread has been made and shot down several times already. People need to learn to use the search function.

I made this thread within half an hour after the official post was made, so don't give me that.

And I'd really appreciate it if you didn't direct passive aggression at me, all I've done is bring the news here.

And it's here in black and white for all to see You are not allowed to split your playerbase into paying, and non-paying users, nor can you restrict gameplay elements to different tiers of player."

LOTC violates this rule in all aspects, whether the mount is a mod or not.

It doesn't violate the rule whatsoever. It's not spliting the player base at all. A normal, non-VIP player can find a mount just like any other player. There's no separation.

By the way, people are being a bit hostile because at least five other threads like this were thrown up just to get shot down, so I think people are a bit fed up with it.

You guys need to wait for Tyhus instead of making threads and beating the dead horse.

If the Mojang SWAT team turns up, I'm sure the techs and Tythus will rejiggle things around. Otherwise, no point getting worked up about it.

The donators get a free mount, but that does not mean that non donators cannot get horses?

Guys it's Mojang, who cares?

If they actually specifically ask lotc to make these changes, I'm sure we will,

but there is no need to freak out and start changing the way

we operate the server when nothing is happening to us.

I swear there was another thread about this that got shot down but I can't seem to find it.
