"Where the ice lurks, the sun melts"

Basics

Sun-Elven history can be narrowed down, for they are not as they seem to be. Half-Breeds originally, started in Asulon by the breeding and intermingling between impure high-elves and wood-elves, they are not separate nor a sub-race, merely a culture. Beginning to truly live by the ancient religion of Aephism, a belief by ancient elves that they were a higher species, and that a sun-god, or rather, the Phoenix lurked above them, and gifted them to be above all other races.

Believing themselves to have been created by this god, while the other races evolved from a common element over time.

Dwarves from hardened stone.

Humans from clay.

Orcs from mud.

Ancient Lore

In the beginning, the Phoenix had first defeated the old, chaotic gods of the western Aegis, the Haepholi, and the Aemoli, it is then that they dedicated themselves to creation just as the Aegali race of gods did, which consisted with both the Haepholi and Aemoli being cast into the broken mountain, Roris. Molding the elves out of molten clay, he placed them onto his little board, and from which they came to life in a new world to them: Aegis. It is then, that the Phoenix rose his hands, he declared the Aemoli a free people, since they had surrendered to him unlike the Haepholi. He then cast them with immortality, and told them to watch over his creation, one of which was Mistruous. Mistruous, however, had different plans.

He had long since decided, that he would use ancient, dark magic to free the Haepholi, and so the ancient giants once more broke free of their prison, under their new king, a Haepholi turned Mistruous. Mistruous then summoned his creations he had forged from Hellfire, the drakes, the dragons, the Ancient Ones. The haepholi and their new king then went to destroy their gods creation, Aegis. And the peoples within.

The pompous, yet intelligent Krog however, saw this along with Zaephaline, the first of the elves that this day was coming. They had their peoples pray. However, the Humans and the Dwarves in their long standing idiocy and greed, joined the Haephali and their king, ransacking villages of the other two races. It is then, that the prays had worked, after years of undeath and the dead being turned to the Haephali side. It is then, that the Aephali truly no longer watched, but joined in to the battle, aiding the two pure descendants, but it would not be pleasured long, for Mistruous had begun his curse.

"Petty Elves, for your guises and beauty and life, not long shall your race live or endure, for thou shall feel no children, and from your womb will come less as you grow old. Your race shall die out, for my curse is to punish you. You shall be infertile."

Mistruous rose his hand, shaking with rage, despite him starting to be chained by holy, heavenly light.

"
And.. thy Krog.. shall be punished worst of all... your descendants shall be evil, heartless, and seared green and ugly, for they hath done aid to those.. Aevs... You will have bloodlust, you will--" Suddenly, and Aevali lowered another chain around the Turned's mouth, he could not finish his curse, for it is then that he was cast into the deepest pits of Roris, into the brimstone and Hellfire.. never to be seen again.

The Aevali turned, silently murmuring curses towards the Dwarves and Humans that they could not hear, before departing back to where they had came, the Heavens, the realm of the Phoenix. No Aevali has been seen since,   lest in vision...

Appearance:

Often having eye colors ranging from orange to brown, they are often tall, their rough height often being 6'10 to 7'1. Though the tallest can be around 7'4 feet tall. Most common hair colors are white, or a pale silver, though brown hair is not unheard of, to have brown hair is to be blessed by the Higher.

Language:
The Sun-Elven language often mangles in with their common, assortments of both words being used.

Aephessprech

Aephessprech(or, Sun Elf speak) is a very literal and confusing language in the sense that it shares many similarities to common, though has separate differences in grammar that make it extremely difficult for a native speaker of common to wrap their mind around. To start off, we'll talk about the Alphabet.

Laephae (alphabet/letter(s))

Aephessprech consists of both characters (a - z) but also a combination of two to make a specific sound. All of their words are spelled phonetically.

a - ah

ae - eh

ai - eye

b - veh

c - zee

ch - sh or tch depending on the dialect

d - pronounced like the d in common day

ck - pronounced like the Common pronunciation of it

e - uh

ei - common a

g - g

h - common h

ho - interesting combination, you pronounce it like hoe, but the H is emphasized with phlegm

i - common e

l - l as in like

m - muh

n - nuh

o - oh

ph - pronounced like gh in enough

r - ruh

s - common s

u - uuh

z - j as in common jester

Zaeruae (plural(s))

Plurals in Aephessprech aren't as simple as adding a letter to the end. Usually it is implied that the word is being used in the singular tense unless it is specified otherwise using the verb "to be". For instance, saying "I have two Bow". Bow in the sentence is singular, though using the word for two you understand that they mean plural.

(Pru)Nunaen ((pro)nouns)

Nouns in Aephessprech are always capitalized unless they are nouns from a different language. Also in common some verbs also act as a noun. To provide difference between the two in their writing, they capitalize it. This originated from a lack of an ability to communicate through writing. For instance the word "love" is pronounced the same as the verb form "to love", but instead of keeping it lower case, they capitalize Love to make it understood through writing that they mean their nouns. Pronouns work almost exactly the same as common, though there is no word for I in Aephessprech, that's implied via their sentences. For instance one wouldn't have to say "I am going to Alras", they would just say "am going to Alras".

Unoreph (honorific(s))

Mr. and Mrs. are used the same way as in Common, though their location in conjunction to the proper noun is different. For instance, instead of saying Mr. Vladimir they would say Vladimir Mr. Also, they always use their last name when using an honorific, so if someone's first name was Steven, you wouldn't say Mr. Steven, you'd use their last name.

Zeiraen (verb(s))

Verbs are used similar to Common. The only known differences (as in, no dialects have yet to use another form) are that there is no "ing" form of verbs and that past tense works differently. Pronouncing "I run" and "I am running" are exactly the same. Also, there are no past forms of verbs, it is implied in the conversation. (There are improper forms but they will be discussed later on) For instance, asking someone if they ran a mile would be "Have you run a mile?" and would be replied with "yes, I have run a mile". This is a very difficult and strange concept in comparison to other languages.

Mozeiraen (adverb(s))

Adverbs in common (for example, perfect = perfectly) are used rather differently in Aephessprech. Whereas in common the most basic idea would be to add "ly" to the word i.e perfect becomes perfectly. However in Aephessprech there is no such thing. If you want to use an adverb you would just use the adjective form. For instance. "He did that perfectly" would be "He did that perfect". Or, to use a phrase used in common - exactly - would just become exact.

Zuch (question(s))

Questions are much more simpler in Aephessprech. For instance, if I were to ask "are you running?" I would merely say "run you?". It provides much simpler and quicker form of communication. Also asking for things just ends in the world please, with the exception of the usage of the word "to be able to (may)". For instance "Please pass the salt" would be "Pass the salt please". But "May I have the salt" is the structure, just without the "I".

Holom Zeiran (imperfect verb(s))

Now this isn't normally a thing stressed on when being taught common, but it's a very important part of Aephessprech. The entire basis for the language is about who you are talking to and who is talking to you. Now, in common the equivalent of an imperfect verb would be ran. I ran can also mean I have ran. Now in Aephessprech normally ran wouldn't be used in formal conversation. Let me emphasize: FORMAL CONVERSATION. So when writing words like ran and jumped wouldn't be used, it would be I have run and I have jump (past tense). However, in Aephessprech if you are speaking to someone who is classified as lower than you (language hierarchy will be explained later), you would use informal speech. For instance, in Aephessprech it's okay to say "I ran yesterday" to someone who is classified as someone you can use informal speech to.

Sprech Ceiaemuz (language hierarchy)

As stated previously, social etiquette is an important part of Aephessprech. So how do you know when to use what? This has been perfected by the Aephes, and there are basic guidelines to follow, though explanation of the finer points is almost impossible (meaning there will be certain hierarchal situations that are lost on people who know common). But let's go over the most basic rules. When writing notes it is considered informal (it holds more meaning to convey your words face to face in their culture). When one is speaking to someone of another race, use informal speech (yes this even means if you were speaking to a human king - while they may know Aephessprech they are not considered part of Aephes culture so they are put in the informal category). When speaking with someone you consider to be personally lower, use informal speech (and vice-versa). When you are speaking to someone you are talking to for the first and second time (exceptions stated above), use formal speech. When you are talking to a member of their government caste, use formal speech (exception being if you are part of the same government ranking, or if they are your friend). If you are speaking to an Aephes in the military or their police force, use formal speech (exception with you being part of the same police or military ranking, or if they are your friend). Your mother, father, and siblings, use informal speech. Your grandfather, grandmother, uncles, aunts, and cousins, use formal speech. When making an address to a large group of people, use formal speech. When speaking to their government to write out a bill or law, use formal speech. When discussing to a religious figure, or while in their church, use formal language. When speaking to a mage, you can use informal language if you so choose, but you must use an honorific when addressing them (exception being friends).

Phrasen (phrase(s))

Most colloquial (informal/commonly used) phrases in Aephessprech are the exact same as their common equivalent. For instance: All's well that ends well.

Aeph - Refers to an elf.
Zaesel - Greeting(s)
Rockmetu - Refers to a dwarf
Aesenu - Refers to a sun-elven cheiftain
The Phoenix - The highest god, the one existing true god.
Aephali - Refers to a lesser god of holy light, religions equivalent of an Aengul.
Aeumai - death
Oimen - refers to a person who doesn't believe in the fanatical religion of Aephism.
Aephes - Refers to a sun-elf, or rather, a believer in Aephism with sun-elf linage.
Hoph - General swear word with no common tongue equivalent, refers to something akin to bastard, but much more dastard and rude.

Culture

The Aephes commonly during their day, hunt, and collect materials for the tribe as a whole. They train their wolfs, and raise their children. While interbreeding isn't seen as "bad" necessarily, as long as it's elven sub-race intermingling. If, for example, male elf marries female sun-elf, the sun-elf is the higher person, makes all decisions, no matter what. Their religion gives them a superiority complex, which even shows itself in marriage.

If an Aephe mated with a dwarf, human, or orc, they would be purged, slaughtered like cattle, and burned. The offspring would be burnt as a sacrifice to the Phoenix.
Combat is also a huge part of their lives, demanding their attention, they defend their huts and village as they should, never allowing outsiders into their territories without great purpose or need.

Military

Aephes have no intense military structure, the chieftain handles these duties, leading the people to war when necessary, when war or battle occurs, it is often that the men of the tribe call each other brothers even if they have no blood linked ties at all, or even War-Brother. This is often how families gain more people, as they adopt people into their own family or clan within the tribe from another.

Ranking

Having no official ranking beside the leaders of the tribe, the "Triumvirate", Aephes often are for the most part, fully equal to one another. The current Triumvirate ranks include Caeluck, the religious leader, Chieftain, the war leader, and Elder, the peace leader.

War Chief - Aeveron Celadithel (PiercingDarkness)

Instead of making a completely new sub-race, make a specialized character. The elven playerbase doesn't need to suffer with another sub-race.

((but there are only two selfs?))

There're around four or five, we're waiting for 4.0 to really build any civilization

((wait what? Since when did sun elves exist?)

Middle Anthos.

We've gone completely stupid now.

Thanks for being a nice person, I hope you enjoyed the lore, if not, it's none of your business what me and my friends play or do.

I have been playing a Sun Elf on the server for 5 months now it's just everyone chooses to neglect it or call heresy/edgy/every other stupid name they have for people they think are horrible in role play. Sun Elves are fun though :D It's nice to be one of the last.

Not a subrace, a culture. I've had this made for around six months. I logged lore in this guide for some players since they wanted to know it, and I might was well put it on the forums so that I could link it to new Selfies.

though I don't agree with a whole new set of elves, I find it stupid these people are getting slack for it. Just like snow elves leave them be and let them have their fun. Roleplay how you want to roleplay it's up to you; don't let the negative nancy's get to you. Best of luck!

This is a form of elven culture, I see no purpose on why everyone must insult it so.

This is an elven version of Raevirs, Hansetians, etc made by a small group of friends, much like the other cultures we already have.

Why must people in this community be asses?

The server does not need another subrace. Not at all. Just...why?

edit: oh, its a culture? I thought it was a subrace because of their distinctive appearance.

He's proclaimed no intention for a separate recognition of a sub-race. In fact, he goes so far to explain a simple fact: They are a cross breed of the impure High Elves and the Wood Elves. He wishes for no sub-race. Leave well enough alone - he wants to make a culture, and if it was so created in roleplay, then let them roleplay. Sheesh. This sort of hostility is what makes this playerbase so toxic. You want to cross bridges, heal rifts, close gaps? Then do it and make peace. There is nothing to be gained from this hostility towards them.

Piercing, here's a suggestion though: Don't use Sun Elf, as the prefix + elf thing DOES make it sound like something more than a culture and more of an attempt at snelfification. Choose a more original name: The Easterners are not East Elves, they are Easterners. They are easily identifiable as a culture.Don't mean to be rude in any of this.
