The video wouldn't work with just music. Though, I will make sure there are two made and leave one with simply music but the genre known as "Epic" seems to be open to interpretation, so i will take a jab in the dark.

 

If it won't work with just music, I have to question the direction that the trailer is taking and ask whether or not it will be up to snuff in terms of quality.

Just because it doesn't work with just music, doesn't mean it's in the wrong direction or that it's of low quality. All it means is that, with just music it would be near impossible for new players to understand what it is.

Please, please, please do not use voice acting in the 4.0 trailer. We aren't bethesda, we don't need it. We don't have the resources to hire a professional and when the Setherien trailer had voice acting I nearly ripped my ears off. Take a hint from Availer's trailers - they don't have voice acting

 

YOU CAN DO A GOOD TRAILER WITHOUT VOICE ACTING.

Trying to force it on a trailer because that's what bigger companies do is really, really stupid. Get some decent scenes, get some music, but for the love of god don't use half-assed voice acting, it kills the mood entirely

EDIT: If music cannot fit into the trailer then it's perhaps one of the worst trailers I've ever heard of. You're doing a trailer - it's designed to make HYPE. If you are doing it to show new players what is going on, it's not a trailer. New players don't give a **** what is going on, they want hype. 

 

Give them good music, good scenes, but don't use voice acting. It will singlehandedly make the trailer another in a line of shitty trailers.

If we actually had good voice actors I could perhaps stomach it. Just stop trying and use SIMPLE things like music which have worked for us in the past. We don't need overblown cringey unprofessional voice acting.

Unless it is like the trailer with CountJuno for Asulon and has small bits of voice acting, please God no. And since you said that it is like an 8 minute script, please God no. 

 

Honestly, you're version of 'epic' music doesn't necessarily have to be the Two Steps from hall "DUH DUUHH DUHHH" and glorious heavenly angels playing guitars and ****. Please for the love of God don't do this unless you can get a seriously professional voice actor. Please. Please. Please.

Yes. It is an animated shot. It might not turn out as it has already burnt down one house in an attempt to render it out in time (not 100% truthful). But if the shot does make it in, then the narrator will be seen at the start as an MC player who is male and old.

 

 

 

And for the rest of you who want to debate how a trailer should be made:

As I said in the OP, this trailer is going to be very different to anything we have done in a long time. So therefore you should probably make the assumption that it isn't someone flying around our world and putting on a voice. We have faith that this trailer will be good and well received. It is pulling together to look very nice, we just want to make sure that the voice that drives it forward is the best one at our disposal, so it is being opened to anyone who has a good voice.

 

If there are any further debates about whether voiced trailers work or how we should be making videos then I will have an FM promptly remove the reply without notice.
